UK/Europe May

Hi all, ans a happy May Day to you. Pass me my hanky and strap on the bells, Morris dancing must be good exercise right? Or dancing around the maypole? I feel like the Queen of the May today, as I've lost over 3 pounds in April (I know, I'm slow, but it's down, that's the main thing) and am currently pretty much dead on 12 stone. And I've lost nearly 16lbs since New Year's Day.

May is exercise month for me. That's my challenge, to establish and stick to a routine.

Hows the weather this May Day morning for you all? It's a tad gloomy here, but that's not going to dampen my good mood.

Hey, Shykins. My intended routine is Monday to Friday, non negotiable and weekends if I fancy it. As soon as I come home from work is my time, and it's going to be Step Aerobics. I've got a proper official step and everything, it's been doubling as a bench for a few months.

I'll have to start at about 15 mins, I'm still too out of condition for more! But I intend to work my way up to 30 by the end of the month.

June I'll add in strength training.

I spend a FORTUNE on gigs. Saying that tonight is a freebie as guest listed, so that is cool! Wait till June, I have so many gigs booked I am going to have music coming out of my ears. I am a little bit deaf but that does not surprise me.

Absolutely! Always best to announce goals, so there's the pressure of living up to them to help motivate me. Otherwise I'd easily let them quietly drop after a week.

Hi, Happy Mayday!

Had a lovely day in London between the showers.

Went to the Tutankhamun Exhibition at the O2 Bubble, came back to Embankment on the Thames Clipper, such a lovely trip and so cheap thanks to my Freedom Pass.

The Exhibition was great too, though not quite as good as the Terracotta Warriors. My DS and her DH have been with us for a few days and it is always fun being a tourist in your own city.

Yesterday we went to see 'Gone with the Wind' the musical. It has been really slagged off by the critics but it is not at all bad. Darius was brilliant and I am not really a fan of his.

We are also all over 60 so buses are free everywhere for us all. We have been playing to see how many interesting places we can get to for free!

I am starting induction tomorrow. The scales say 135 lbs and my clothes say "tight".

Hey All! Can't believe it's May already. Middle DD's bday is tomorrow - 12 years old. I got her a mobile phone - her first. Now maybe she'll stay off mine!!!!

Junk - YEAH!!!!!!! on exercise month! Why don't you join me and Kissa on our exercise challenge - Allies Exercising Around the World! We started last summer in NY and we are now halfway between LA and Hawaii!!! It really keeps you motivated to exercise. I know if I miss a workout I feel I am letting the whole group down!

Kissa - was it your birthday? Hope the party was nice.

Shy - Werthers are my absolute favorite!!! Never tried the sugar free. How are they?

Cosmic - If you really have nothing to do you can come and clean my house and do laundry!!!!!! I still don't have a new housemaid!!!! I'm sure you did great on the exam!!!

Alceme - WOW!!! you must really like music! I can't even stand to LOOK at Bjork, let alone hear her sing!!!

emslight - losing inches is better than scale weight! Can't remember the last time I weighed myself! I think how I feel and how my clothes fit is the best indicator!!!! You're doing great!!!!!

How is everyone's bank holiday?

Me, love music, never!!!!! It is more than love, I guess it is a lifestyle. I play as well.

I love going to gigs, I do the local band circuit too, it is ace. Best way is to catch bands BEFORE they become famous, then you don't need to pay ha ha ha! I keep meaning to sit down one day and write down everyone I have ever seen live. Wish I had kept a record from the beginning.

Does no one else go to gigs?

Another day of clean eating and no alcohol either!

Glad Wisley was good Shy, hope you all enjoy Tussauds too.

Music is good Alcmene but theatre is my addiction.

I'll be back exercising around the world this week, Maryam, company have gone now!

Cosmic, hope you pass the exam. It feels like forever when you are waiting for results doesn't it?

Junk, I read that you get double cream in Starbucks? I had no idea they had anything but that horrid sweetened fluffy whipped stuff here. I will be asking for it next week as I am on induction for a while.

Enjoy your Bank Holiday Monday everyone.

quick pop in before i go snoozing....the sugar free werthers taste as nice as the sugared ones which is good.

thnk as the weather is going to be nice we are going to go legoland instead, aah the vagaries of venue choices made by an 11 yr old lol

kissa.. i always ask them for pouring cream (costas do it as well) therefore its induction friendly unfortunately their cakes arent <sigh>... if u ask at starbucks they will whip the cream without syrup if u get a good barista

alc... gigs will refigure when my choices arent child led lol, i used to go when i was a singleton aaah well ... just think u can say aaah i knew them before they were famous

blondie.. hope the bday goes well and she likes her phone

Lord! I had no idea. Coffee is a science these days. I always have to ask for decaf, extra shots and extra hot as it is. Now even more complications!

Oh Maryam, I didn't answer your question, sorry. It wasn't my 60th, that was last year worst luck. This was our neighbours, who both had 60th birthdays within a week or so of each other.

Ok, since I'm not in UK and not even British, can someone please tell me what the holiday is for? Happy bank holiday to all of you anyway!!!!

Alceme - Very cool. I don't listen to music. But cool that you can know people BEFORE they get famous!

Shy - Ah yes, the cultural choices of pre-teen boys!!!!! Have fun whatever you end up doing!!! Yes, dd loved her phone! Was texting her friends all evening!

Kissa - Very cool! Miss you on the exercise challenge. Hope you make it back soon!

Morning all.

Kissa, Shykins already answered there, but yes, ask for pouring cream in Starbucks. Get it on the side, even if you're getting a drink to go, so you can control how much you put in. The staff will likely be a bit heavy handed if they do it. They should give it to you in one of the tiny take-out espresso cups.

The company owned stores should all have it, as they actually make the whipped cream from it. Airport outlets and so on might not, but always ask.

Exercising is going okay. I've done it every time I've been supposed to so far! Will be doing it later today. Maybe next month I'll join a challenge. Just getting the habit established is enough of a challenge this month!

Blondie - the holiday is just May Day bank holiday. May Day has been celebrated in these parts for a long time, going right back to pagan days.

I love Tuna, thanks.

Managed to get to the gym this morning for the first time in over a week, great aerobics class. Then we drove to Cambridge to visit dreadful SIL. Stopped in beautiful Saffron Walden on the way and looked around the church and museum. What a lovely place.

Had a delicious meal this evening and stayed on induction all day. I was cross this morning because the scales were up a pound instead of down. Better not be tomorrow!

Ohhhh tuna, having 3 cats you can imagine how much we love tuna in my house!

How is everyone anyway? I am soooo busy at work, we are in the middle of exams! eeeeeek

Also two good friends of mine have just opened up a computer business/cafe so spending a lot of time there just for support - good place to hide and do my marking actually. I have not been to the gym in 2 weeks, although on Sunday I was sat in said cafe recovering from the night before (gone to bed at 8am got up at 11am) and 2 friends of mine decided they needed fresh air, we went for a 4 hour walk!!!!!! Good exercise!

It is really hard to concentrate on work at the moment, the weather is gorgeous here, in some ways I wish for rain, easier to not want to be outside!
