Ooh... I love the apprentice... Got some inside info that I'm not allowed to tell, nothing juicy, but I know stuff....
Unfortunately here in Spain I don't have UK telly so I can't watch the drama happening!

How are you all?
I'm sorry for not checking in earlier, been suffering very badly from allergies due to the dryness here, and my medication is so strong that I'm either sleeping or trying to catch up with life when I'm awake!

I can actually see the pollution here, and it needs to rain badly. They have predicted some rain for this weekend, but seeing is believing...

Nothing to report weight or food-wise, as I've been good and not strayed from my clean eating path... Now it's just the alcohol bit to get under control... LOL!

BF and I are still stupidly happy, and this does not seem to be getting any less anytime soon!

Hope you are all very well, enjoy the sunny UK weather,

xxxx!

Darn, I lost our works Fantasy Football league in the end, though only on goal difference. The top four all had the same number of points, goal difference decided the result, and mine was a bit crap!

Never mind, it was fun while it lasted and it spiced up the bank holiday weekend, making me follow the scores and try to work out who was going to win. It all came down to the very last match of the weekend, Newcastle v Chelsea on Monday, and I could technically still have won at that point! If N'zogbia had scored at least two. But since he so far hadn't manage to score any for me, my hopes weren't high. Also, if Chelsea had really battered Newcastle and put four or five past them, it could have done in the goal difference of my rivals. But that didn't happen either. Bah!

Football is now boring again, until our next Fantasy League starts in the autumn.

DH and I went on a trip up the Thames to Hampton Court yesterday, 3.45 hours there, 2.5 hours back. Tidal river!!!! It was a perfect day.

Back to the gym today and food shopping and real life.

At last the scales went down, 131.8. You know you are desperate when you don't call that 132.

Hi all

Busy here with the planned move - just over 1 month till we leave - aaagh!!!!

I am not followin LC at the moment - doing the Paul McKenna 'I can make you thin' and the dratted scales are moving down - probably because I am eating less calories - still not stuffing face with carbs - ie most nights don't have any - or that much at lunch time - and still very little in the way of sugar. Started 1 1/2 weeks ago - and am down 7lbs - so am quite happy with that.

Plus have been doing some walking - at weekends I have been getting up to 4 1/2 miles - up and down the hills where I live - but the middle bit is nice and flat by the sea - so that's nice.

Off to bed now as have an early start at work (had a late one this evening - interviewing people for my job) - but tomorrow afternoon should be fun - we're taking the afternoon off work - en masse - and going 'barefoot bowls'. Bowls is not just an old people's game here - and barefoot is really fun - get to have the odd beverage whilst playing too!

Well done on the induction Mum - keep up the good work - and everyone else!

Hi all! How are you enjoying the weather in the UK? Hope it's still lovely!

Here things are wet, windy and grey... The whole weekend was one big wash out, literally! Haven't seen this much rain in one weekend since I moved away from the UK!

And whilst most people in Europe and here in Spain have a day off, I have to go to work because the region where my office is situated does not have this holiday... GRRRRRR!

My BF did have a day off, so I had to leave him this morning, still tucked in bed... This is not good for my mood today! Also have a meeting this morning, so I guess after that I'll need some cheering up!

On the bright side, I finally found an excellend health food store, with loads of great products that I thought I would never be able to get here, so I stocked up on some great whole foods!

I haven't lost for the last couple of week, but then again, I've also started exercising and I've done that every day I was meant to, so that's maybe the reason. Anyway, I only count my 1st of the month weigh-ins now.

I've moved a tentetive toe up to the next rung and added in some beans. Not very many, a whole 60grams of them in a chilli to divide into four servings for this weeks, comes to less than 2g of carbs for the beans per serving. Maybe up it a bit next week. If I can think of anything to add them to besides chilli! They're nice with salads I suppose and now the weather is better I might start eating salad more regularly.

And that takes me to a max of 35 g of carbs a day.

Hey All! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! I don't remeber the last time I weighed myself! I just decided to stop obsessing about the scale and feel good about myself. If my pants or skirts start getting snug I just cut back on the carbs and up the cardio. Seems to be working!

Mimosa - Sucks to have to work when everyone else is off. What was the holiday for? If it helps, I worked on Sunday also. Sunday isn't a weekend here.

Mint - on the loss!!!!

Shy, Kissa - Good luck with induction or whatever you're going to do.

Junk - Exercise may be the reason you haven't seen a loss. You're probably losing body fat but gaining muscle - which is ALWAYS a good thing!

Do you mind if I join in here?

I assume the holiday was for Whitsun/Pentecost. Wasn't the Monday after Pentecost a holiday in England at one time? Then they fixed it at the end of May and renamed it Spring Bank Holiday. If you're in Abu Dhabi, they're probably not big on Christian holidays .

We have two public holidays in May, one at the start for May Day and one at the end, the Spring Bank holiday like you say. I don't know about its association with Pentecost, but whatever, as long as I get a day off work, I'm happy!

You must be younger than me . When I was a child, the second May bank holiday, and the half term that usually fell around that time were always called Whitsun.

Yes, I think it's something to do with pentecost... Anyway, here it depends what region/province you are in whether you get the holiday or not...

Just spent 2 hours of my life I'll never get back again in a useless meeting....

Now you say it, I vaguely recall that half term being called "Whit Week". I went to Catholic school, I should know this stuff!

Hey

I don't think Whitsun is celebrated anymore! If it is then it is called something else!

Oh I cannot wait for summer, then I am taking a month of work and doing DIY and going to the gym and hopefully shifting some weight, I'm stuck!

I did physics. I used to work at a power station, but then I got married and we were only managing to meet at weekends, so when they started to pay people to leave, I volunteered .

I lost about two stones (from 10 and a bit to 8 and a bit). I'm 5' 2". I lost the weight following Protein Power, but I've recently incorporated some of Schwarzbein's suggestions because I was finding that although I could maintain my weight OK, I didn't have any energy. So now I'm eating about 100g carb each day, divided between five small meals. I do feel better, but I hope I'll be able to get back to three meals at some point, because I spend all day eating .

oh i would of volunteered for that too lol

well done on yr weightloss!!! 110carbs a day sounds impossible to me but i think i am supersensitive to them but thats fine as long as i know i am happy with what i eat.. i havent read any of the schwarzbein stuff but i am a grazer for sure.. when people say what have u eaten i just sort of spread it between brekkie and lunch but in reality i am just in and out of the fridge at odd times lol

glad u found us

I thought that many carbs were impossible too, but I was just desperate enough to try it. I kept expecting to find I'd added half a stone overnight, but it's been nearly a month, and no change!

When do I hear your life history?

If you're happy with what you eat and with the way you feel, then there's probably no reason to change. If you do want to experiment with higher carb levels, pretty well all the books seem to suggest doing it gradually.

Thanks for the potted history. I'm sure I'll pick up more details as we go along .

Hi everyone,

How you all doing? Where does the time go? I've been snowed under with uni assignments and work's manic

Managing to stick to low carb (<30g/day) but weight loss is slooooowww

Anyway, I have a few things planned for the forthcoming weeks:

1. I go home to NI this weekend to watch motorbike racing, and see my
best friend's new baby - 10 years and multiple attempts at IVF so I'm
REALLY excited for them

2. We are back from NI for 10 days and we head to the Isle of Man for
just over a week to watch yet more motorbike racing. It's also our
anniversary of meeting there - 7th! Can't believe it, before I met
hubby I had not dated anyone for more than a year!

3. Home from IoM for ~ 4 weeks and we head to Cornwall for a week -
the craic should be ninety as there's 8 of us and our mad dog going
(other posh peeps are in motorhomes and caravans but we're in our
new mega posh TENT )

4. Home from Cornwall, and we have to build the conservatory I bought
from Ebay in August.

Then it's time for uni again

Where does the time go?

Anyone heading off anywhere exciting on hols? Trips to Oz don't count for 2 of you!!!!!

Oh, and in-between all that, I have my birthday and our wedding anniversary to deal with
