Elvita - I don't have any advice, but I'm sorry you've had such a terrible week. Getting bad news from the doctor is always horrible. And I'm so sorry you have to do the finger sticks. I hope things get better soon for you!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Jenn |

Elvita's stress out
Hi Elvita,
I don't know anything about your health issues but as for stress...you gotta get it under control. It's so detrimental to your health. Just get in a quiet spot and close your eyes and breath real deep for as long as you can hide out from the family. Prayerfulness at this time is good but not panic praying, just let God's love/acceptance flow to you and back at God. This is important. I'm sending you good vibes. Hope you're numbers get better and the finger pricking is painless. Breathe. CindySue ps...ahhhhh, I'm back in Texas. |

Confession: I know we aren't supposed to weigh ourselves daily. I know our weight fluctuates throughout the day. I weigh myself every morning (for now). I get up, pee, and weigh myself to see how good I'm starting the day. I figure, THIS is my lowest weight of the day and it's the one I'm going to count.
So I weighed a few days ago and showed a few pounds drop and I was happy and celebrated. Then on my official weigh in (Sunday) I showed that I had only dropped 1.6 lbs... and I was sad. So I must have just been extra fat at that moment b/c I hopped on the scale today and I'm showing a 6 lb drop since Sunday (yesterday). I take this victory and do my happy dance all over the house and then share with my LC friends! The moral of the story: If I'm going to insist on weighing myself daily (like I'm not supposed to) then I'd better not be disappointed when I'm having a fat day. I hope you all have a great day and I'll check in with you again later.

Yay on the 6 lbs Jenn! Good job
Elvita-- as a stressed out person myself I can sympathize- but it has been awful for my health. Sometimes I just have to shut the door and take a soak in the tub and ignore everything for a while. Hope you feel better. Hi to everyone else- hope your Monday is good |

I too need to finger prick and hate it!! I think I am driving my numbers up with the stress of it. This morning I got two errors on my strips and had to poke again. My machine has been asking me to program in the code and date each time when it never did before . I called one touch to see how to make it stop and it told me I had a half hour wait. What kind of meds are you taking? I get the kind that has the side effect of putting on weight joy joy. Asked my doctor for juniva which advertises that you wont put on weight but doctor wont ok it... yet lol

Hi, & welcome to Soon & Elvira,
![]() I know just starting out pricking your fingers for checking your blood sugar can be stressful & can hurt. Do either of you have the kind of meter where you can test on your arm or thigh? These new meters take a smaller "drop" of blood and using the arm or thigh doesn't make your finger tips so sore. I can tell you, it will get easier, thought it doesn't seem to be the case now. Relaxation, like was mentioned, will really help getting those numbers down & make it easier to become confident to learn to check your sugars. Jennbaker, now you know that weight fluctuates, so if you must weigh, weigh in the am after you pee and don't worry about the fluctuations. I do weigh daily after I pee, then average the numbers for the week. This gives me a truer photo of my weigh loss. Congrats on the 6lb weight loss ![]() Here is to a great week. Talk to you all later. |

Hey, y'all,
I accedently logged in under my name for another web site, Claudette and realized I must have signed up in this site under two names, Claudette & Slendercate. Since I forgot about registering earlier, I think I will keep on using the later name, Slendercate. Hope that is not confusing. |

Hi, y'all,
How is everybody doing this week? I was so happy, today, the scale revealed my lightest weight since I've been on this lc diet. I am hanging there on plan. Where is everybody this week? |

Hello to all. I have checked a few times this week and was going to post but well ya know...I have been working so many hours. We are going through a total re model at work. I haven't had a day off since a week ago Wednesday. I clocked out yesterday at 52 hours and I still have 12 to work tonight. The paychecks have been awesome but I had absolutely nothing but meunster cheese in my fridge. Got up this morning and bought some groceries. Now I have food - $130 later. Its nice to be able to open the door and look around and have options! One unhappy thought - while I was at HEB I noticed a red and yellow "BlowOut" tag on the Dreamfields pasta. Another one bites the dust. When I leave work tomorrow (Randalls) I have to make sure and pick up some $2.99/lb ribeyes! Hope everyone has a great weekend and I will touch base soon. Eileen

Soon,
Wow, I love the Bernstein book, trying to get my BIL/sis to re-read it as I truly think it is the way to go for diabetic's. If I ever develope diabetes, that is the plan I am going on. A lowered blood sugar of 30 points is fantastic! Way to go! I think that more than the weight loss is saying you are on the right track with your lower blood sugars. 1/2 lb is better than none. Don't be so hard on yourself, I lose weight incredibly slowly as it took me a whole year to drop 18lbs.! This year, I have only dropped 4lbs, but something is happenening, as I must be building muscle mass or something, because I am losing inches & can wear a smaller size. It may take your body a while to adjust to the new way of Berstein eating and lose the rest of your weightm so take heart your sugars are going down. I bet eventually the weight will start coming off, also. Went to the grocery store, diet stuff bought, ready for the week. Say, where is everyone? Brymic, Cindy Sue, Jennbaker, Teresa, Anita, Elivita, Recluse and anyone I forgot? I can't do this alone! Hugs, Slendercate |

Hello! BUSY week last week- I checked in but did not have time to type anything. I am letting the kids sleep in a little bit so I catch up before beginning my homeschool day. Im also out of dog food so I am being harassed by 3 large furry girls. I had an OK week last week- no more loss but no gain- I feel yukky though- just bloated and run down. When I eat cleanly I don't feel that way so it tells you about my menus!
I have some hamburger in the fridge already cooked up and am having some broccoli for breakfast! Slendercate- Will you go to the store for me?? sigh- guess I have to go get at least dog food! Recluse- ribeyes? Yum! I'll be there at 6 ![]() Soon- awesome on the sugar levels. I have relatives with diabetes so I know how hard that is. I have passed the age that both my mother and grandmother lived to, so I am well aware of how that feels. It is very motivating lately for me to be able to be here for my children. Hugs and wishes for a great day.

Hi everyone. Just checking in real quick here. Worked 62 hours last week and I'm looking at close to that again this week. Have some meatballs cooking and getting ready to boil the Dreamfields spaghetti. Think I have some salad stuff left also. Not much going on here in Austin. Did anyone get those awful storms last Thursday night? Near UT got hit really hard. One lady on the news had 11 windows blown out of her living room by 3" hail! Just alot of thunder and lightning here. Well - getting ready to wind down and wanted to make sure everyone is doing OK!

Hello all!!
I have had a serious sinus infection for the past week. Finally today, I have started getting some relief. Unfortunately I have not exercised for the past week, but I hope to start back in the AM if I am feeling OK. Just when I was getting the hang of exercising again. I have been eating clean, but my weight is still fluctuating 161-164 (yuck). I am starting over on induction today. B=Oopsie and sausage patty, coffee & cream x1 L=2 cups of salad, Ken's buttermilk ranch dressing and left over Italian casserole D=meatloaf and 1 cup of brocolli I do get frustrated with the lack of weight loss (since January), but I know that I will never give up this WOE/WOL. I will never go back to eating high carb junk. But I have at least 20 lbs that have to go!!! I am hoping that kicking up the exercise will help.

Hi, y'all,
I've been missing in action this week with serious overtime since a dept colleague was off on vacation. I will have more money to spend with the ot. Welcome, Coolmonies & Cindy! Coolmonies, 35-45 lbs in 9 weeks, sounds like heaven of a weight loss to me. Congrats and welcome! Anita, sorry to hear you have been sick, sinus infection is the pitts. Glad you are feeling better. Your post is inspiring to me, as when I got on the scale this week, I have gained back the 4lbs I had lost this year. I did have a day where I "carbaged" out, so maybe it is bloat. I am under such emotional stress with the "empty nest" syndrome & at work that might be part of the problem. I seem to be very sensative to carbs. Congrats on being at 160! Byrmic, hang in there. I would have gone to the store for you if I lived near ya. Recluse, glad to hear from ya. We didn't get the storms as badly as y'all did, but lots of rain. CindySue, I know how hard it can be to stay on plan with relatives visiting. You'll get back on track, I know. Have food planned, catching up on chores not done in the week. Have to get a new microwave as ours' died, also a new garage door opener which we have never had. Have a great holliday, all. Will check in later. Hugs, Slendercate |

Hello everyone. I feel your pain Slendercate - today is the end of our work week and I clocked out at 72.45 hours! Thankfully I'm hourly. Not much else going on here. Proud of myself for still cooking with the groceries I bought a week ago Thursday. Been very very warm here - almost June so you guys know the party is over here until October! Got what is probably my last small electric bill ($52) for a while. Enjoy the holiday. Will check in soon...Eileen

Hi, y'all,
Feeling better today as the scale says I have lost 2lbs of the weight gain. Started exercising again yesterday, as well as back on the Protein Power plan. I plan to do those exericse tapes daily for a week or two to jump start my inch loss. Body Flex (orginal) & Callanetics. Can't beat 'em for how they tone and help you lose inches. Hope all have a great holliday. |

Hello, fellow Texans! Well, I'm not sure I would really be considered a "Texan" since I just moved down here a year ago. I had lived in Ohio pretty much my entire life. I noticed one of the other posters saying she hadn't had sinus problems before moving to Texas. I can sort of relate. The pollen here in East Texas is awful!
Anita, I noticed that you're close to Longview. I'm in Tyler. Congrats on your weight loss. I know you're frustrated by your stall, but you'll get there. You seem to have a great attitude and you're not giving up. Just wanted to say Hello!!

Welcome, Chixrule,
![]() YOu are so right, North Texas area, especially East Texas is the worst part of the state. As a native, I have battled sinus problems since I was a kid. Allergy shots have made the symtoms better, but I am still viligent. You are a "transplanted" Texan, so don't worry! Tereasa, glad to see you posting. Will check in later, where is everybody else? Hugs, Slendercate |

Just found out about this thread (thanks, Claudette). I normally hang out at Protein Power and Dr. Bernstein's forums since I've been on PP for years, and I'm a type 2 diabetic. But am glad to see other Texans here. I live outside Santa Anna, about 60 miles south of Abilene.
I'll probably be checking in a couple of times a week. As of today, I am 20 lbs. from my first weight goal of 145, which is what I weighed in my early 40's. It's been a five year on and off journey to get this close -- just hope I don't blow it before I actually reach goal. Then depending on many factors, primarily how the diabetes is doing, I might try for 135 which is where I was in my late 20's/ 30's. Since I'm 59, that seems like a real stretch. At any rate, it's good to see this supportive thread up and running.
