Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and just found this thread. I'm near Dallas but out in the country! I've done Atkins in the past and last time I lost about 60lbs...and then fell off the wagon. I gained it all back and then some. Feel horrible about that, but I'm ready to start over and I think I will be stronger this time. Gaining it back is just the pits. My husband is going to go on it with me. We both need to lose at least 100 lbs. We are starting this Monday after I get the junk out of the house and go to the store. Any suggestions what to buy? I remember doing a lot of fish and chicken breasts, tuna and salad. But I want to be more creative this time. I think boredom led to my downfall last time. Also, I learned since then that I am type 2 diabetic and am taking Actos to keep my glucose down. Will that affect anything? I think I am glucose intolerant as well. Cat~

Wow - glad to see people still here! I check from time to time but am guilty of not posting. Hope everyone wheathered the hurricane alright! Not too much going on here in Austin except for the wonderful weather - 59 this morning when I got up at 6 am! Have my daughter back here living with me (got married in Oct and moved to Pennsylvania - marriage isn't working out to well...UGH). She will transfer to a beauty school right up the street and finish her 3 months that she has left so she can get her license and start doing hair! I feel so sad for the poor kid - she's trying to put on a good front but I know she must be hurting bad....Still maintaining weight - found Dreamfields pasts at BigLots for 1.50/box so I'm having spaghetti and meatballs tonight. Hope his thread stays up and running. Talk to everyone soon...Eileen

Wow, glad to ' see ' some posting here, y'all.
Welcome to Catarina & soon. So good to hear from you, Recluse and lowcarbprincess. lowcarbpprincess, wow, 63lbs, how terrific! Recluse, I do love dreamfiels pasta with reduced fat cheese as in macoroni & cheese. I hadn't thought of a Texas meeting, sounds good, Soon. Catarina, I would buy non-starchy veggies, salad fixins', lc salad dressing and lean protein, like chicken, beef, eggs, lower fat cottage cheese or cheese, hood lc milk is great and doesn't interfere with my losing. It has been awhile since I did Atkins, but maybe you could check out a copy of his new diet revoulution book to refresh your memory. If I went back on it, I'd have to refresh my memory, too. Best of luck, you can do it. From what I've read, I think when you start losing on Atkins, your doc might have to re-adjust your Actos. I also think Atkins or lc plans are just the ticket to reverse glucose intolerance. Today, on plan. 1st day back on. Who, hoo for me. Tonight, will walk with my neighbor as we have several hills in our neighborhood. The weather is great here, also in the 60's this am, only got to 80 I think today. As far I am concerned, it can hurry and get to fall for all I care, I am tired of summer. Heard from DH, he is attending a conference for his work in Austin in late Nov before Thanksgiving. He wants me to attend and we can spend a day after just "chilling". Now I have it. More motivation to be as light as can be. Well, off to exercise. Best of luck, ya'll. Hope to see some more frequent posting. Hugs, Last edited by slendercate : 09-17-2008 at 06:42 PM. |

Hello from Dumas! I have been on Atkins (this time around) since June and am sure glad to see some fellow Texans here! My total loss so far is 13 pounds with a lot more to go. Anyone from the Panhandle?

Ah so nice to see so many texans! LOL! Slendercrate, Im w/you and Im about done with this summer...I loved the beginning of this week barely 80's..that was sweet! But I think everyone would feel a little 'stronger' if it werent so darned hot outside and walks would be an open option for exercise! I do my DVD's 5 days a week but I sure would like some fresh air w/my 4 mo old..
Also, food ideas, did you check the recipes here? there are alot of really good ones... pizza in a bowl or on a big portabella mushroom, dips w/porkrinds or cucumber slices, tuna cakes, spicy deviled eggs, clouds..just a few of my favorites that are quick and delicious! I personally make/grill out a bunch of meat on the weekends so its an easy grab and go for me during the week... Everyone have a great weekend! Lisa

Dallas is here.
Lowcarbed in 2000 (208 - 168), right from these very boards, kept it off for 3 years then started piling the lbs. back to 198. It's been one month, going on my 5th week. I'm stalled at 190 (from induction) no loss in the past 2 weeks but definite change in the way my clothes are fitting. Cutting way back this week to meat, eggs, a little cheese to break the stall. I got strep last week and put on anitbiotics, I didn't eat much and somedays not at all. I hope to see even a 1lb loss tomorrow. So glad to see so many other Texans here. When I was on the boards here back in 2000 a group of us did meet to celebrate our successes, a couple even flew in! The support, ideas, and information here works!!

Slendercate, thanks for shouting out.
Lowcarb Princess, your doing great! congrats and your right the weather is fantastic! Catarina, I'm with you girl. The main page has a list of foods with carb counts. Induction is pretty simple; meat, eggs, cheese, allowed veggies, lots of H2O. There is a recipe board with great recipes to try after induction. Let us know how your coming along... Dewlover keep up the great work. |

Hi, all,
Day 2 on plan . Proud of myself as I went to the store to get some stuff for sick neighbor and there was my favorite Halloween candy. I took one look and walked on by. lisa, I'm with you and the walking outside. Fresh air is great. Cat, glad you are excited about getting healthy starting the plan next week. DiSa, I started this thread in July I think, it seemed to take off, then sort of died. I didn't even check it Aug, because nobody seemed to be there. I am determined to be 10 lbs lighter by January 1st, so I am on track. Also, I want to look as good as possible when I go with DH to the conference in November to Austin. |

Slendercate, sounds like your on track, keep up the great work.
From my journal: Finally, I dropped. I suppose though, it will be a slow pace going forward. When you think that the body has to actually burn the fat to reduce the weight, that process can't be fast since I have not been exercising and I live a sedatary life style. I hope to start walking (use to do this and loved it) next week when I feel better after being sick. Goals for next week: Continue on my path, Start vitamins this weekend, Start walking. Foodwise: Add carbs, 5 carbs from a LC tortilla, add 1/2 avacodo (apx 5 carbs?), nuts (3-5 carbs). |

Hey, Recluse, that sounds great. I am PM ing you .
Day 3 on plan: Last night's weigh in: 158 So , I am starting back down to where I was when I slipped. DiSa, congrats on the scale moving downward. I love to walk, also. I have a walking job, but still need to add exercise to lose weight. I guess that is because I have stopped & started the weight loss process so much. Do you journal in something like fitday or just a recording of what you eat? Hope the rest of you have great weekend. Don't forget to check in here some. I get lonely posting to myself! Friday's menu: whey shake w/ hood lc milk, fiber, lc toast w/ smear butter sbeach frozen dinner, sf jello string cheese homemade chicken soup, few tortilla scoops, sf popsickle Hugs to all. |

Ok, y'all, where are ya?
Hello, I need some support here. Today, meals are planned and I plan on walking later with this cooler weather. Tonight, we are going to a party, we were asked to bring desert, so I am bringing a "real one" but one I don't like, so I won't be tempted. All the other food there I can "eat" around . I am excited as my size 10 jeans now fit with the shirt tucked in! Hoping to be even lighter by next Saturday at weigh in, as my B'day is next Sunday, 5th, and I am wanting to see the lowest numbers I can possibly see by then. Hope to hear from y'all. Recluse, DiSA, Catarina, low carb princess, dewlover, whoever else wants to post, I can't do this alone! Slendercate |

Hello Slendercate!
It sounds like you have things well in hand. I really like you idea of bringing a 'real' desert but one you don't like. I find that when I make a 'legal' one (like the easy coconut pie) I eat WAY too much of it! Size 10 jeans? I was born wearing a size 18! Keep up the good work! This is definately a challenging time of the year with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and all that those holidays entail. But.... WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!! |

OK so with all this talk of Halloween and Thanksgiving you guys have me thinking about making some of the crustless pumpkin cheesecake I made a while back - think I got the recipe from the Recipe Room - or was it LindaSue's site...Hope everyone is well and enjoying this weather. I have been spending alot of time playing with the thermostat lately. The AC kicks on and I wonder why since it is so cool at night!

Hello fellow Texans. I'm in East Texas and would love to join the conversation. From the look of it most of you are well on your way to meeting your goals. Congradulations! I three months in and am EXTREMELY proud of myself. I can't remember the last time I was able to maintain a diet for more than a week. This just might be my ticket to Onderland.
Look forward to working with all of you. BTW, today for the 1st time in more than 10 years I walked 1 mile. Hoo Weeee. |

I tend to lurk more than chat in here. But I read daily.
Recluse, I can relate to the thermostat. I can't seem to find a temp that works for me. |

SlimMoeDee, congratulations! You really seem to be on the right track. Keep up the great work, it's all about you girl!
WenD, if I am reading your sig. right your at 240 from 247 after induction are you at a stall? I stalled after my induction but the fat kept coming off, slowly but definite change. Recluse, I've been dreaming about pumpkin myself with all the talk of it on the mainpage but I just haven't gotten around to getting some! I will this week. Dewlover, I was born a size 18 too! we must be twins!! LOL Slendercate, a size 10! oh how wonderful and your shirt tucked in! I can't even imagine, keep up the great work and I hope you made it through through the party the LC way? Keep writing girls we can do this together! |

![]() I've been kinda bummed...as everyone struggles, I know I haven't been eating enough (due to time, financial reasons, stress lately..no i wont take you there) but I havent lost 1 lb in over 3 weeks now!! I've lost 63 of the 100+ i need to lose so its not that I'm even close to my goal weight to stall like this. LCPrincess, hang in there, the sluggishness is definitely from not eating enough.
Some life stresses can really get us down and we turn to food so be careful and be strong. After my induction I had a 2-3 week stall, I did a meat/egg fast from a Monday thru a Friday (fairly easy) and it seemed to break the stall, maybe consider a couple days of this. But you do need to eat..... |

i almost do a meat/egg thing the way it is, but i do add dairy so maybe if I took away that I could break this stall? I had a handful of shredded cheese w/my eggs and sausage today but I can skip dairy the rest of the day for a few days and see if by friday i have a little jump..hell Id take 1 lousy pound at this point, lol!!! Thanks Disa! Have a great week, I can't wait for it to get cooler this week, lets hope it stays this time!
