Well I have been thinking about starting to walk again. You people have got me motivated! 8 or 9 years ago I used to walk 3 miles a day and felt SO much better. I get off work around 10 am usually so it hasn't quite gotten sweltering hot yet. I am planning on starting Monday. Having leftover Dreamfields penne pasta tonight with a small salad. I seem to be overdoing it with the yogurt smoothies lately. I need to watch that also. Hope everyone is having a good day. My daughter got married in October and moved to Pennsylvania. She is coming for a visit in June and I am SO excited. We plan to spend a lot of time thrift store shopping...Talk to you all soon...Eileen PS: Do try the cauliflower pizza -its yummy.

HI, y'all, welcome to Soon, from San Antonio!
![]() Cindy Sue, congrats on the 4lb weight loss. Anita, to you, too. Every little bit helps. YOur 30 days of carbs/30 days of exericse sounds interesting. Since I love ice cream, I am also going to look that up to make. Eileen, I love walking. I have a tiny neighbor, (size 4) who knocks on my door daily to walk in the neighborhood. When I really get over this cold and am not coughing, I am going to walk again. Felt great today, as I have lost the 2lb bloat I gained from cold meds. Now to go even lower. WEll, going to go do Body Flex tape and a short 20 minute Callenetics one. See you all tomarrow. |

JennBaker, glad you are joining us!Teresa, you need to figure out your lean body mass and eat the amount of protein to protect it. I used the book Protein Power's guide to figuring my lean body mass. I think you could google "finding your lean body mass" or something like that and it would take you to sites that would calculate it. For instance, my lean body weight is 90lbs, so I need a minimum of 56-60 grams/day. THat is my minimum, which would be enought if I just sat around, but since I am on my feet almost all the time running in my job, I usually eat about 80 grams/day to feel good, sometimes more. Exercised this am, was on plan. Will see y'all tomarrow. |

I'm going to start going back to the gym when Summer School starts up in June. Until then I'll just be busy doing work around here... which honestly is probably going to burn more calories than a trip to the gym.
First project: stain my new deck chair and clean the Room of Despair. That'll keep me burning calories all day long. Second project: help my sister-in-law paint her house. She's living in my old house and I've wanted to paint that bad boy for a LONG time. I'm so excited. That'll keep me busy for probably a couple of weeks. Third project: clean the dog pen. A lot of raking and scooping poo and pine needles into garbage bags... the garbage men are going to hate me... oh well. I tried to burn it last year... but ya know... it doesn't burn well. Fourth project: spring clean the house... only during summer... I'm even going to pull the cushions off the couch and chaise and clean underneath them. I think I heard the dust bunnies colonizing and threatening a coup. Must put an end to them. So yeah, those are my 4 big projects along with visiting family and friends for my 3 week vacation from school. Should burn lots of calories, right?

For the last two days I finally broke the 161-163 weight barrier I was in. This morining 160.2...YEAH!!! I just realized that everytime I get to a lengthy stall of months, it happens to be where I once weighed for a long time in the past. About 5 years ago I was around 163-165 for a while. I guess the body programmed thing is true with my body.
I didn't exercise yesterday, but I got up this morning and did about 50 minutes of The Firm. My body feels like jello. I am so out of shape. I decided not to do the official 30/30/30 challenge, but I am going to personally work toward getting at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Hope everyone has a great day!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi, everyone!
Say, where is everyone? Tereasa, Bymic, Recluse, Jennbaker, Cindy Sue? Well, can't say too much as I have been missing in action since my last post Thursday. Jenn, sounds like worthy projects you have going there. Anita, so glad to hear you broke your streak. That seems to be the like the thing my body does, stay at one level for several weeks or a month or two, then the scale finally moves. Madening, but I have found persistance pays off. Still holding steady, but must be losing inches again, as yesterday I put on a pair of capri's I bought at the end of last year, no elastic in the waist, a size 10. I could breath and wear them out in public! ![]() Today, despite family over to eat, I stayed on plan. How is everyone else doing? |

I have had two interesting challenges staying on plan this weekend.
Yesterday my brother, his fiance and their son came over and they (along with my hubby) decided we would all go to the new Olive Garden for lunch. I would have voted No, but it was already decided so I went along. I ended up eating a bowl of salad (no croutons), fried calamari and fried zuchinni as an appetizer and chicken marsala as the main course. Gave the taters to Hubby (who enjoyed them). All in all I'd say I did well considering that place is Carb Paradise. Today it was a birthday lunch at my inlaws. My mother-in-law made fajita's, chicken enchilda's, beans and rice, etc. So I ate a big fajita steak with a side of refried beans and I ate some of the guts of an enchilda (hopefully there was no tortilla in what I ate). Again, I thought I did pretty well. I skipped the sweets but she sent home a ton of food with me, including a bag of brownies. I had a small nibble of a brownie and then I decided to eat a small bowl of my "No Sugar Added" ice cream... which I think is NOT equivalent with Sugar Free... Oi! There's like 20 carbs in 1/2 a cup so I'm putting that in the "too high carb count for me" category. So I have to convince Hubby to finish off that ice cream for me and I'll have to buy something that is specifically low carb. If I use yesterdays weight I've only lost 1 lb this week. If I use todays weight (I drank a shake and a glass of water before weighing myself) then I've lost 0 lbs this week. I did lose an inch or two since I can fit back into my normal pants again and my fat pants are good and loose. I suppose over the next week I'll just be stricter with myself and quit playing with milkshake recipes and see if I can lose a couple of pounds. (I've been really generous with the heavy cream the last few days.) Anita -- congrats on the breakthrough!!! Hope all are doing well and hope you had a great weekend!!! Hi, y'all,
Well, just when I think I have the emotional eating thing whipped, it rears it's ugly head again. Due to stress with our grown son, (he is 23, but acts like he's 17), I really blew it Monday, Tuesday. When I finally got it undercontrol, I tried on the pants I wore last Saturday and couldn't button them However, today, Wednesday, I am back on track again. I did walk on Tuesday night, so I hope that helped the "carb weight gain" somewhat. So, I am picking myself up again and starting over. When I weigh in tomarrow, I will not be mad at myself if the scale says I am up. Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Congrats, Jennbaker on the 1lb weight loss. I'll take a lb loss anytime! I have been on plan two weeks without a cheat a month if you dont count one little cheat lol. Anyway I lost zero pounds and put on half a pound am perplexed. My pants are also very loose had to keep pulling them up. Wish we had some of these stores other people talk about I only have HEB super walmart and Target. I get to see a krogers when we go visit my daughter in College Station.
Slendercate I am sooo sorry and I understand totally. My daughter is 25 and a bit over dramatic. Her PMS is bad but she doesnt think pms is her problem she is sure she needs happy pills or tranquilizers.

sheesh
Soon and Slendercate's posts got me going this morning. I typed up a long response with all kinds of heart pouring...
then I accidentally deleted it while previewing it. Sorry ladies. As a mother of three, two boys 19 and 22 and a girl (woman) 25, I hear your pain. It was so much easier when they were little. I get back to Texas in a couple days and the first thing I'm shopping for is sugar-free margarita mix and a bottle of tequila! Cindy |

Hello everyone! I was hoping this thread wouldn't just fade away. Was going to post over the weekend but after 11 hour days I was bone tired. Hope everyone is doing well. Up into the mid 90's here in Austin. Getting ready to get a bite to eat - got some Boars Head turkey and some muenster cheese and I'm just going to make a sandwich on some Natures Own Sourdough Light bread - 5 net grams per slice and if I put the turkey on the bottom I only have to use 1 slice. Hope you all have a great week!

Hello all!!
![]() Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Well the weight breakthrough didn't last. I am at 163 today (but it is TOM) so hopefully I will have a whoosh. I usually gain 3 lbs and then lose it right after. Also I have upped my exercise, which I heard that can also cause a temporary spike. Sat. 50 minutes of Total Body Sculpt Mon. 30 minutes of Ab Sculp Wed 50 minutes of Total Body Sculpt Today 55 minutes of Cardio Sculpt These are old Firm workouts and I have been considering getting Calanetics (sp), but I don't know. Does anyone do that and do you like it?? I am hoping to lose serious inches by June 1st and July 1st. My major weigh in is on the first along with taking measurements. Slendercate, sorry to hear about your stressful week, I have a 13 year old DS and an 8 year old DD. I know my days are coming!!!!! ![]() ![]() Hope the rest of your week goes well. |

I'm so sorry you're all having TOM. I'm actually on two different types of birth control. Mirena (IUD) to prevent babies and Lybrel which I started taking b/c of the horrible PMS mood swings I get. Lybrel is the kind where you have no period at all. Lucky me!

Thanks, y'all for all the kind words. Grown kids, cheeeese....
Anita, Callenetics is the best for toning fast. When I commit to doing it, (I use the plain Callenetics tape & the 'quick" ones (20 minutes) each for the thighs, buttocks, abds, waist, legs), people start to say, "wow, you are losing weight aren't you". They look decievingly easy, don't put any stress on joints, but boy, do they work the muscles. I recommend them. I do remember the "TOM", don't you think afterward you will probably lose the lbs you gained? Soon, I wouldn't worry about the 1/2lb if your pants are continuing to get loose. Could it be you are building muscle? When I weight train, I tend to gain by the scale, lose inches, then the scale catches up later. Cindy Sue, wow, I didn't know they made sugar free Margarita mix. Please post where you get it, maybe I can look for it. Recluse, I am going to make try to make sure this thread doesn't end as it really helps me stay on track and after all, I started it! ! When it gets too long, I might start a new one each month, but we will still be the "Texas Low Carbers". I don't know how to end one thread and start another, but can learn. If anyone else knows, please pass it on as I envsion eventually we will need to re-start it. I love Boar's head products, aren't they great? Your natures' own sourdough lite bread sounds great. Where do you get it in Austin? Well, have a great end of the week, y'all. Say, where is everybody else and how are you doing? Hugs, Slendercate |

margaritas
Slendercate, I saw the margarita mix on Amazon.com. Bob's something or other. I'm guessing I won't find it at HEB.
I'm reading about the I35 closure this weekend between Austin and San Marcos, southbound. YIKES! That is going to slow things down. |

I am totally going to look for the margarita mix!!!
Hi all- looks like we have had quite the week here in Texas! I have a 15, 14 and 12 y/o so I/m getting the hormonal stuff from everyone! I have mood swings from hormones, too but no TOM so I guess I should be grateful for that! I lost 4 more pounds over the last week- so I am motivated to (maybe) look at some work out tapes. I hear good stuff about callanetics from a lot of people here. The low carb bread sounds good- I will have to look for it-- we have just HEB here too. (Well- wal-mart, but I am on strike since a very weird experience there the last time I went.) I did get some low carb tortillas- 3 carbs-- to make a wrap. I am nervous about stalling, but I have found if I don't overdo it, like have several a day! - that I do alright.Have a great rest of the weekend!

Hi everybody. Thought I'd check in after another long day at work - 12 1/2 hours - short day! The Natures Own bread is hit or miss at HEB - some have it some have taken it out. If you can find it there it is almost $3 a loaf compared to Wal Marts $2.07. I know I know - that's not my favorite place either. Unfortunately its the only place I can still find Progresso Low Carb Soup (chicken cheese enchilada). Since I had such a long night at work today I stopped and picked up my once a week Panda Express. Pretty carby but since on maintenance I haven't had any problems if I keep it to once a week and watch what I eat the rest of the day. Well - going to hit the hay pretty soon and I hope you people have a wonderful weekend. Happy Mothers Day!

Brymic - I miss the margarita's too. I found a recipe in the recipe room for jello smoothies. when I bought the jello I found lemon and lime jello so when I get around to buying some tequila I'm going to try to make a sugar free margarita. I'm scared of getting a sugar free mix b/c I don't get along with sugar alcohols. Good luck with it!
