ok here goes a positive vibes thread

for the good stuff, the stuff that made us laugh or for just 'nice' things to say

i will start off with saying my washing machine is arriving today .. ok not necessarily the most exciting thing buti have been without one for over a week now and the pile is getting BIG!!!!

Today was the day I meet up with my ladies group. This month it was here at my place and it was a great meeting. The topic I chose was about getting older and what we expect or hope for ourselves.

I really enjoyed it!

This made me spit my scrambled eggs at the computer screen this morning

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their
days interesting.

Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went to Worthing and went
into a shop. We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came
out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and
said, "Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?" He
ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi g*t.
He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tyres.

So my wife called him a s***head. He finished the second ticket and put
it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third
ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the
more tickets he wrote.

Personally, we didn't care. We came into town by bus.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we're retired. It's
important at our age.

Maybe I just need to get out more...

Hi, I'd love to join this. Today I had the day off work, and my partner and I went on the train to another town and spent the whole day wandering around. For the first time in ages I didn't get terrible aching feet, and I got back home and did 40 mins of exercise as well. The fact that I feel fitter is as much a motivator as the gradual change of my body shape.

I wish I had discovered Atkins years ago!

Hello, Shykins. Thanks I will do that! Yes, I am from the UK but I am currently living in Switzerland, although only 'til the summer then it's back to reality for me!

positive vibe for the day (well for me) son didnt do well enough to get into the grammar so wil be going local comp but have decided that is good cos means he will be near the top of that rather than bottom of grammar so am busy bigging it up for him and the fact they have an archery club seems tobe swinging things lol

I met a group of old friends for lunch on the way down to Devon. Lovely time.

I have been here on a four year posting at the Embassy, and it is coming to the end. Back to Head Office in London... I will certainly miss the Swiss public transport!

Today at work by nice fitting trousers were loose on me, so my "a bit tight" close should be comfortable now! Woo hoo! Not quite ready to get the "very tight" clothes out of the back of the closet yet, but getting there....

My DD's Trust fund have agreed to pay for their tickets to Australia! (A trust was set up for her when her father died suddenly a few years ago.)

Hi all! I had a lovely day today trying on wedding dresses. Although none of the sample dresses fit me, I was looked after and made to feel very pretty! And something very strange. One of the dresses, a UK size 12, was much too small in the top, but apart from that fitted great (how did that happen? ). Now I don't know whether to try and get it a size bigger or wait and see if I fit into the smaller one... anyway...I feel good, and even more motivated to lose the extra pounds!

Really soon actually - 2 May. I'm getting married in Interlaken Switzerland to my partner of almost 5 years. We thought it would be a nice ending to our time here.

Our drive back from Devon was trouble free despite the threats of wind and rain. Hurrah.

A warning: if you ever want to avoid buying an expensive traditional wedding dress - don't go and try one on! I am now hooked on wedding dresses and I am having to literally stop myself from spending our whole budget on one! But it's still positive because so far I haven't done it! I am staying strong!

Was dreading trying on my summer clothes but it wasn't too bad at all.

Nothing that a few days of induction can't put right. Hurrah!

I'm meeting up with my dad tonight, he's up in Newcastle on business. Yay! We're going for food. Eek! (Nah, I'm not scared, I'll just have a steak. )

Oh and for really positive vibes, Shannon Matthews, the 9 year old missing for three weeks now in Dewsbury has been found alive! Fantastic news. The details aren't clear yet, but at least she's alive and safe now.

I'm wearing my white blouse today. I couldn't wear it for a while cos I was too fat! Now it fits. Shame the same can't be said about my trousers, which are almost falling down.
