I'm in Tyler. I've been on the Atkins diet for four months. I found this web site this weekend. I got introduced to the diet from a friend. My husband is also on the diet and we can't believe how much success we are having. I'd love to meet fellow low carbers in person. Let me know what days and times are better for you. I'm flying solo on my lo-carb journey. My fiance isn't participating but he is very supportive.

I don't work so I have lots of free time. Bryon work evenings so that would be convenient for me.

This is my second go around with Atkins. Last time was almost 3 yrs ago. I'm really motivated to succeed with this.

I am so excited!!!!! I just posted in the pen pal forum, for any East Texans? And here you both are, I'm not very far from either one of you, but closer to Tyler, I'm in Jacksonville, I just had the greatest's thought! What if we all got together to meet in Tyler for lunch one day! This is the some of the best support I've ever seen in any forum. How much weight do y'all have to lose? I just started the induction 6 days ago, already seeing changes! I have a LOT TO LOSE!(Read my pen pal post) Thank you both, for posting! Hope to hear from you both soon! If you read my pen pal post and you see my age( and your younger) please don't let it scare you off! LOL I act just as young and crazy as my kids do! People can't believe it when I tell them I have grown kids,28 & 26 the youngest is 15) they say " You sure don't look it! They say losing weight usally makes you look younger, well bring it on! Hi yall I've been on the board since August 26, 2002.I live near Athens,Tx so glad to see new people. I'm gone 3 or 4 wks and home for 1 week. Dh and I drive team in our big purple truck and we just got in tonight. Of course I come straight to the century club as I miss it while I'm away...gotta get a laptop. hi stevie, i started low carbing last month and so far have lost 18 lbs! i'm so excited about finally finding something that works. i had just given up on the dream of ever losing weight. now i know to never give up hope. if i ever need a little inspiration, i just start reading the bulletin board and i'm reved up! my mom is a diabetic and has also started LCing. she has lost 10 lbs and says she is feeling so much better. this is definately a way of life. i look forward to hearing more about you and the other east texans!

Hi Crimson! Are you staying on induction or moving right along? I have decided to stay on induction for a couple of months and see how it goes. I really have no problem with it since I love meat and salads. Am starting to scroll through those recipes though, and have found some to give me a nice change, as well as easy ones in the crockpot! I lost 45 lbs on this WOE 3 years ago before moving here and stupid me gained it back. My sister is also diabetic so I can understand. Have a coworker also doing it so there's support in the office which also helps. Bottom Line: I REFUSE to be "FAT AT 40" and I have almost 2 years to get it all off although I do not think it will take nearly that long.

Yesterday my DH was home for the afternoon and he made all kinds of salads to take with him on the truck too, so I applauded him last night (although i happen to know HE won't stick with it)

I just joined this board and can't believe that there are so many people on here that live so close. I'm from Longview, but am attending UT-Tyler, so I'm in Tyler atleast twice a week. I'd love to meet up with some other lowcarbers

WOOOHOOO! Sounds like we got ourselves a group started! Am feeling VERY positive today. Now down 15 pounds and 8.5 (body) inches since 1/6. Ladies, I actually found Atkins bread mix at Drug Emporium here in Tyler. They have an Atkins Center there. YOu can find some of the vitamins, the bars (which I won't touch - too many carbs!) Also muffin mixes - blueberry, banana nut, orange cranberry and pancake/waffle mix too! Made the caraway/rye bread but the loaf wasn't half as big as it should have been so anybody that buys it might wanna use fresh yeast, in case it was the yeast that was old and caused it not to rise. But it was WONDERFUL! Of course, I immediately sliced a piece and put fresh butter on it and thought I was in heaven when I sunk my teeth into that slice of bread! The bad thing I did yesterday was I found a post regarding the DaVinci syrups and drinks made from them and I had just happened to pick up a bottle of Amaretto at the Drug Emporium. So I made a amaretto syrup/vodka/cream/ice drink - BAAAAAAAAAAD girl! But it was also wonderful - nice treat!

How 'bout we not only get together, but do some exchanging of clothes too! Being they are so expensive, esp. for the larger sizes, I personally think this would be great fun! Let me know how you all feel about this idea! O.K.? I know I have some really nice things I'd be glad to share! Karen

Thanks for the belated BDay wishes Karen! Yep - I hit 38 - a milestone in my life. It's why I started this WOL. I guess that I started thinking about what else I wanna do in my life, and finally realized that my weight was keeping me from doing it.....

Kacjac, i do think that's a great idea about the clothes. i'm currently a size 18, but let's see if i can go down a size before the get together. has a date been set yet? let's set it for about a month away?? what do yall think?? my computer's been acting up alot so i haven't been online as much as usual. let's get this thing planned.

So glad to see more east texans here. Kacjac the clothes exchange is a great idea. I gave a lot to the womans shelter in Athens but still have some great stuff left. I sure hope we can plan some get together. Looks like we will be home 2 weeks this time. Gotta get a new roof $$$. Being a truck driver I dont mind driving wherever we can get together.
