Are you doing Atkins? I started eating lowcarb foods the week before Christmas. Congratulations on your weight loss. What are your favorite threads on this website?

Hi,
I am doing general Low Carb. I keep my count down to 20 or less a day. Several years ago I lived a no carb lifestyle, was thin, walking 5 miles a day, all my blood work was perfect, BP was great. Then I started eating carbs and gained alot of weight and my blood work when flooey. I've restarted a few times but just did the latest restart two days ago. I've dropped just under 4 pounds, which is water, but it's a start! I usually wander all over the forum, but the recipe area is great for coming up with new and different ideas of things to eat, the Atkins area is great too. I like the Challenges, they keep me focused. I have mine posted in my signature. It's so nice to find someone on Delmarva. There was another girl I used to keep in touch with but she disappeared in November and hasn't come back yet. If you'd like, we can do the penpal thing or post on each other's journals or just type here in this thread. Tell me about you and what plan you're on and your goals. It's so nice to meet you! ![]()

It's Wednesday and feels like a Monday. It's going to be a short week.
Thanks for replying. As as far as keeping in touch with each other, I would like to get the full benefit of this wetsite and try to use the journal or penpal thing (which I don't know anything about, yet) I did check out the journal section that seems easy - just listing what I eat and type of exercise that I do. I will have to find the penpal section. You seem to be getting yourself back in control. I read through some of your post earlier. If ok, I will be asking a few questions related to some of the topics that you have mentioned in your previous post. I like that you "get wordy" as you say and you like to write. It will take the place of my sometimes short and misspelled post. I will be headed back to work today. I am going to try to take a break during the day to post my progress and after work. This site really helps. I need to pack my lunch and snacks this morning so I won't go astray. About me: I am eating lower carbs than I normally do. I am not eating many sweets unless it is natural but I am having sugar free Russell Stovers candy for my sweet tooth. I am currently not exercising as much as I would like. I did mark off a mile in the back yard for walking. I have a few cardio dvds that I want to try but haven't yet. I like you, had high blood pressure and off medication. The highest weight was 198 pds. I refused to get to 200. I was already having discomfort all over from getting up to 198. In two years, I have gotten down to 172, where I am now. My weight used to be in the lower half of my body but soon after I hit 40 years old I started gaining in the belly so now I have it all over. My goal is to get more lean muscle (so I guess, I am going to have to lift a little weight). I am no longer a member of a gym, therefore, I need to come up with some type of equipment for home or maybe by riding my bike and walking will help. If you want, read through my previous post and you'll be able to get to know me a little. I want to post a challenge but I want to post it in the correct place. I guess, I would start a new thread, right? Wouldn't I go the one called "Challenge" something or would it be ok to do it in the "Main Lobby" ? I'll check in later. Have a good! |

Hey there,
It was great reading your post! You seem to have a good handle on the plan so far. I truly believe that limiting carbs, within reason, and making good substitutions is the key. Several years back I lived the low carb life, 24/7, every day without even a thought. It lasted a full 3 years. I ate zero carbs, every day and was healthy and had tons of energy. I was down to 130-135 and wearing very tiny clothes! I could kick myself for backsliding but food is so central to my upbringing and life that it's bound to vary. In my family food is used to celebrate, console, fill boredom, it's a reward, etc. There is never an excuse NOT to eat lol To do the penpal thing, just click on my name or any name on the left of a post. You will see under that where you can click on "send a private message". That's all there is to it. I've been contacted by two people from right here in DE and I'm sure there are others from Delmarva that just haven't found each other yet. I love meeting "local" people on this board. We are kind of isolated and not living near a huge metropolitan area gives us less of a chance of making real friendships with other board members. Ask me any questions that you have, anytime. I won't ever mind that. I need to get ready for bed, but I'll post more back to you or private message you tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions at all! Suze |

Oooops, your question about a Challenge. You can make up your own for others to join with you or you can browse those that have been made and join in. Just go to the Challenges and check em out. There are some really neat ones!

Hey there. I just got back a little while ago from shopping in Salisbury. I just posted in the Valentines Day Challenge. Earlier, I agreed to join and just reported that I lost 2 pounds. We went to Furnace Town in Snowhill and participated in the guided tour. It was about 3 miles. That is the longest walk that I have had in a while. I used to be more active but I have been lazy recently (6 months). I am getting back there. I have video tapes, a soccer ball, jump rope, pilates mat and that huge ball to get exercise with but haven't got a routine yet. I guess, that could be my goal that I set with the girls at work this week. We just started Wednesday. We will be meeting for 15 minutes before leaving the office to discuss our progress.
I know what you mean about family and food. At work, we were always finding a reason to eat. There was food around everywhere everyday. During previous Christmas holidays I would want to have snack food while putting up the tree, then when shopping, of course we had to go to dinner, when wrapping the gifts we had snacks or if it was in the morning, I would want to have a breakfast party - wrapping gifts, it never ended . . . until now. It was fun but I am happier now without so much food. It also saves money. I am going to check out a few of the new post. I will check in with you. |

I am so glad you found a challenge! They really can be a fantastic way to keep yourself on track! And it's funny how even if you never see the board members in person, you develop online friendships! They can be soooo supportive and they are packed with all the information and knowledge of all of the members!
I live about 20 minutes from Salisbury. It takes 20 minutes from my door to the Centre at Salisbury. I used to work selling radio advertising for The Wave, Froggy 99.9 and my daughter was the Froggy mascot for a while. That was so much fun! I would love to take the tour at Furnace Town. We are all into history but I haven't really checked out too much even tho we're here almost 12 years now! I used to walk up to 6 miles a day, not the funny speedwalking but darned close to the fast pace. I did it mainly at the start for stress but in a few months I didn't recognize my own thighs! They were so tight and the muscles were defined. Once it got too humid and hot, I stopped it all went downhill from there. Once I don't have as many expenses, I want a treadmill. My daughter had one and loved it. I always preferred to walk outside but I hate the cold so it's a way to get back to walking without waiting for Spring. I also have done some workouts with the hand held weights. I had a glider and hated it. Today we are waiting on the delivery of a dryer. Mine died and so did my fridge! After the dryer gets here, we're heading to Delmar to look at refrigerators! Oh my, when it rains......you know the rest! I'll post more later today and keep up the GREAT work! Suze |

![]() I have been having a hard time getting logged on to the site. I keep having to re-enter my password. I was getting frustrated but I am ok now. I was getting to the point where I wanted to eat anything and everything that I could find. Lucky for me, all I could find was healthy stuff in the house. I now have my pjs on and sipping on my hot tea. Regarding that challenge that I joined on this site- I looked back at it but did not see my name where I had joined in the beginning. I think someone changed it to another thread. I did have a challenge where I wanted to start a thread but never got around to it. Even if I did, I would not be able to do it now. I will wait until it gets warmer out side. I like the idea of walking until I don't recognize my thighs (as you mentioned about yourself). And that is another area that I really need to work on. I guess, I need to set a goal for the up coming week. It will be to add some type of cardiovacular exercise into my day - maybe I will start out with getting in 2 days this week and work my way to 3 or 4. Are you enjoying your new appliances? Do you go to the Delware Agircultural Museum and Village? Although, I live over 2 1/2 hours away, I am a member of that. I missed the Christmas Festival by one week. I could have kicked my self in the rear. I really enjoy that. I need to look at the calendar to get the date of the next program. It will probably be in spring. I like to see the gardens in full force. I am thinking about what I want to put in a garden this year. I understand the the veggie prices are going to be increasing. I'll check in with you later. I am going to hop around to see what is going on with the other threads. |

Hi :)
Hi! I haven't been on the board for a few days. Business has been hectic!
I haven't been to the Ag Museum but it's been on my list for the last two years. Like the Nanticoke Powwow, which has been on my list for 5 years lol How is the weight loss going? How bout your luck logging in? Somedays I think it's my computer. I'm about due for a new one but money is too tight right now for that extravagance. The warm weather we had for few days really gave me cabin fever. And it's going to make me hate the cold that's coming even more! What other areas of the board have you found that you like? |

Hey, I realy like your new picture ! It's good to hear from you.
I was surprised that I could even log in tonight. After logging in, before I could post I would have to log in again and again. This was my second attempt to log in - to respond here. I will have to write the administrator to see if others have experienced the same thing. Anyhow, I just posted to a new thread that had a question about Unflavored Protein Power. I am interested in learning protein powder. Please forgive me, I may repeat myself sometimes because I won't remember if I have posted the info. on another thread for example I know I told someone that I bought a dvd called Turbo Jam and it calls for a lowcarb diet and the use of Protein Powder. I am not using it often yet. I am losing weight I think because I am walking a little and eating less. I think I have mastered portion control. I have been doing some form of exercise for about 15 minutes a day. My boyfriend teases me saying that "it's not a workout" if it is only 15 minutes. It feels like it to me sometimes. I when it gets warm I want to walk or jog beside my grandaughter as she rides her bike. I plan on she and I kicking the soccer ball around the yard and riding my bike. About my favorite forms: I know I like the Muscle Matters. I can't remember off hand the names of the others. There is one that a couple girls have talked about eating organic foods. I like the concept of eating whole and natural foods. My sister eats organic foods. Although I have not cooked much of the recipes that I have written down from these sites but I really like the sound of some of the recipes like- Linda Sue's Recipes. I have been using a few of the ideas of the cooking tips. I have discovered the Dreamfield pasta, buffalo chicken dip and there is a cheese cake recipe on the site somewhere that a friend made. I have put shaving of Russell Stovers chocolate on top each time I eat a small piece. I have lost some weight. When I started I was around 187 and now I am about 170. I am going to check out some of the other sites. I will check in with you later on. |

Hey, you're doing GREAT!
![]() I love the Dreamfields, have made the cheesecake too. They both are good! I wanted to start walking but it's just too darned cold! I'm still checking out the treadmills. Work has been busy, which is a good thing, but it leaves me little time for other things. I know what you mean about the workout thing. Sometimes 15 minutes is a heck of workout! I have a new cleaning client to meet up with in a while, so I have to get ready. I will check in with you later today! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!!! |

I'm checking up on you. How about an update on your last workout/type of exercise? Today I bounced on the exercise ball for a few minutes and did a few stretches. I am still eating lower carbs, only whole wheat bread (when I do eat it) and more whole foods. I just made Dreamfield pasta and a homemade alfredo sauce for tomorrows lunch. I got the alfredo sauce from one of the recipe threads. I am going to check out some of the other sites. I like to see if any of the questions or comments pertain to my interest.
