Low Carbing in Arizona
Hi I'm Diana,
I'm from Arizona and I've been doing Atkins since April of this year. I've done pretty well so far, keeping myself encouraged and motivated to get to my goal. I was born and raised in AZ, and I must say I've had a pretty good life here, I can't complain. As I said I'm doing Atkins and I've lost about 30 lbs now, I'm actually not having a hard a time as I thought I would. . .surprisingly! My husband eats what I make, which helps alot. I don't have to make different meals, the only difference is, he eats bread for his sandwiches and I don't eat bread. I do buy him low carb so he's not getting too many carbs. I don't know how I have kept going at this way of eating, except to say, by the grace of God! I haven't had the urge to full on cheat, I have done that in the past and realize that it's so much harder to get back in the swing. Oh I did cheat one day and that was for Father's day. My mom made her famous red and green chile, spanish rice and beans. I could not resist that, I guess you could say that was my "last meal"! LOL I get excited by the progress I have made that I don't want to mess this up. I went from a size 24 pants to a size 20, I am happy about that! So if anyone is from AZ doing low carb, I would really like to hear from you and even correspond on a daily basis. I'm here all the time, sometimes lurking just to see what I can learn. Hope to hear from you!!!! ![]()

Yeah a Fellow Arizonan,
Sorry it took me so long to reply back. I don't think I activated my subscription thingie. I'm in Glendale, born and raised here. I wonder if there are other's here? So how are you doing on you LC, any type in particular? I'm doing Atkins and a matter of fact I just came from the 72' Atkins Forum and replied to a post about losing hair. I noticed that I've been losing hair too and I'm taking multivitamins w/ minerals. Keep in touch and let me know how your progress goes Diana |

Hi 4females,
Good to hear from you! What are you doing as your way of eating? I know in the begining it can be pretty rough, but just hang in there it will get better. My problem is I can't watch anything with food, well it depends. Last night I was watching the FoodNetwork and they had Bobby Flay doing his Throwdown with someone who makes ice cream! That is my weakness, I love ice cream. Well, I just had to have an ice cream, I was going crazy! I should have just changed the channel, but I didn't, lol, I watched. I told my husband that I couldn't take it and ate a lc sf Breyers ice cream bar. It satisfied my sweet tooth for that, now I'm okay. Make sure that you are at least eating fat, that will help take away the cravings for food and keep you satisfied too. Fat as in meats, poultry, sausages, or evern make some coconut oil bark. Here's a recipe for it, but you can add anything that is allowable for you to eat. Chocolate Bark 4 T. (1/4 cup) Virgin Coconut Oil 1-1.5 T. Cocoa Powder 1/4 t. lowcarb sweetner, such as stevia or xylitol 2 oz nuts (optional) Melt the coconut oil to a liquid, add in cocoa powder and sweetener. Stir to combine and blend well. Blend nuts into chocolate mixture (Optional) Have chlled a metal bakeware lasagna or cake pan or pans in freezer for 10 minutes or so. Remove from freezer and line with waxed paper. Then pour mixture into chilled pan and spread to desired thickness. Pop in refrigerator or freezer on level shelf and let sit 10 minutes or so. It will harden quickly and breaks with a snap. Keep in touch if you need some support!!!! ![]() |

4Females - Check out Linda Sue's Low Carb - she has a ton of receipes in there to satisfy almost any craving. I absolutely love it and everything I have made so far (and it has been a bunch of stuff) has been wonderful! Good luck.

Hi 2beskinee,
Welcome Back!!! ![]() Good to have you here. We're a small group here, all from AZ too. We just come in here from time to time. There are so many other great threads here too, I'm sure you'll be checking out. So your from Ahwatukee, I'm from the northern Glendale area. Hasn't the weather been so nice for October! I mean we do have our warm moments, but the mornings have been beautiful!! What way of eating are you doing? How much have you lost so far! I wish you the best in your weight loss and hope you lose big time!!! I'm finally losing after a 2 month stall! I had to throw in some exercise, that was the thing I had to do, eating the way I'm supposed to was not enough. I dreaded the thought of exercise , but now I'm glad I'm doing it! ![]() Well, feel free to come here when you feel, to chat or if you need some support! Take Care! Hi to 2f2f, 4 females, and Wildflowermama! ![]() Hope you Ladies are doing good and are losing big!!!! Have a great Friday all!! |

Thank you Determinetolose for the welcome! I am just starting Atkins ..... again. I had been on it 2 years ago but with all the bad press it was getting , I stopped. The last year I was on Weght Watchers and lost 15 pounds but it was very slow for me to lose. When I meet people that have had great success with their weight loss it is almost always related to some type of low carb diet. You can't ignore the results......so here I am!

Good for you!!
I've been on Atkins since April this year and so far have lost 38lbs. Not bad, but I know I could have lost more, I'll take -38lb though! LOL This time it's so much better, I think. I don't feel hungry at all, except when I don't eat enough. I keep my carbs around 15 to 21 a day. It's hard to get to 20 because I don't eat enough veggies or salads. I think I'm eating alot, but when I put it on Fitday, it doesn't add up to alot! It's okay though, I'm trucking along! You're gonna do good too, and the lbs are going to melt off of you!!! Have a great Friday!! ![]() |
