I've never heard that term used here, but I live in the middle of nowhere. Maybe the Dubs would use it. No pulling here, my 15 yr anniversary is coming up this June.

'ello . . .

I went swimming every morning while I was away, they had hot, fluffy towels too. After my swim I sat for 5 mins in both the sauna and the steam room!! Loverly!! Afterwards breakfast was sausage, bacon, eggs and shrooms, with black decaff coffee.

I walked all day everyday for 3 days, I have lost the feeling in 6 toes and I ache all over but . . . it was amazing watching the sun come up with herons flying over the lake, whilst gently swimming in a heated pool. Decadence in extremis . . .

Richard has suggested I join a gym because I enjoyed it so much . . . does anyone have any advice about gyms/instructors??

hey lou glad u had a good time and certainly sounds like u did lots of exercise... forgot to tell u if u ask for cream at the hilton u do get it.. i had that with my coffee when i was there lol

as for gyms well personally i go to one that is attached to a hotel bit like the one u went to at the hilton.. the reason i enjoy it so much and the reason u prob enjoyed the one this week so much was because u do have a jacuzzi, steam room etc unlike most gyms which are just well a gym lol

so my advice would be to look for one thats more like a club with gym, swim, jacuzzi steam room, sauna etc (mine even has outdoor ones in the summer)...i am sure u would prefer that to one with lots of machines and skinny minnies lol

hope that helps
xx

Everyone has done well on keeping on track!

I have a new motivation, I'm going to Download festival, ( WOOHOO!!!!!) I thought the tickets had sold out but found some more were released, bought them and now we have to buy a tent!!!! We gave our old one in for charity last year but now we're stuck!!

I'm 8lbs from goal (woohoo!) and would like to be at goal for then . . . 6th June. I think it's very doable.

What's everyone else up to??

P.s Thanks Shy, no skinny minnies for me please!! . . . excellent suggestion though which I'm going to follow up on, I think I'd get bored with just a gym. Health spa with sauna etc. feels more like pampering!!

Does drinking too much wine count as exercise???? Walking to the resort from the hotel - panicking when you see crocodiles moving towards you??? Last 2 lifted my heart rate anyway!!

My first couple of hours at the gym last night were great I did 5k on the treadmill at 5kph and climbed 100 metres on the incline button thingy . . . I cycled for 2k and did 40 crunches . . .

. . . this morning I am up another lb but I don’t care because I no longer want to look at the eeeeeviiiiiil scale but at the fat% and my BMI. I'm aiming to drop from 37% fat to 33% and BMI of 27 to 24.9. I am not doing induction but moving up the carb ladder, starting on rung 2 today with extra veggies, I’ll follow Atkins ’72 as closely as I can.

On Saturday we’re going to RAF Duxford for the Battle of Britain festival type thingy, I can’t wait but what I do have is a before piccie of me on concorde a couple of years ago, in my largest trousers, I’ll get a new one stood in the same spot and post it here.
It’s my birthday at the weekend and I’ve avoided the Italian/Chinese/Indian and opted for a BBQ, I love BBQ’s and if it rains so what . . . I’ll foreman the burgers!!

A bit of a post there but I’ve started today with renewed vigour and wanted to share.

Can someone please tell me that as I get smaller, I will enjoy exercise? Does it get easier? Do you actually enjoy it now? Lie if you have to. Thanks.

Maid, if you had asked me that a few months ago I wouldn’t have been able to lie to you, I'd have said it's very hard and finding motivation at times was very difficult but after losing a stone since New Year I can move even more. I have more flexibility and I enjoy the feeling of simply being able to cross my legs or curl up on the sofa, it’s little things like that since downsizing that has kept me motivated.

Exercise has become a lot easier after losing more weight, it lead me to believe that I could do it. Last night I did more than I ever thought possible and I enjoyed it because I could do it!! In actual fact it was fun!!

This time last year I was 220lbs/15st 10 lbs, if you had said to me that I’d be training at a gym in a year’s time, I would have said you were nuts/crazy/loco and rung for the white coats to come and get you!!

It does get better, honest, even to the point of actually wanting to do it!!

I've just started exercising again after nearly 3 weeks off (had a dissertation to do ). Did 10 mins on each of bike, rower & stepper type thing.

Maid, I find after forcing myself to exercise a few times I really start to need to do it AND enjoy it when I do!
