UK/ Europe Clothing
I am so confused by the sizes here. I am not sure what is equal to what in American sizes. I get told ours is one size or two sizes smaller than here. But then I chicken out when I need to buy something.
So I am trying to figure out about what someone would weight to be a UK size 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, etc..... I also am trying to figure out about how much you need to loose to move down a size. ![]() |

Rough guide would be (I think): -
UK America 10 6 12 8 14 10 16 12 18 14 20 16 Different shops do different sizes though so I try everything on (which I hate) At the moment I wear 14's from Matalan, 14-16's from Primark (both are dead cheap, great for downsizing )I have 16's from NEXT although some 18's fit me from there?? I have one pair of size 12 trousers which are the exception from Matalan. It's crazy but I think the new zero sizing is worse!! Last edited by lou-bi-wan : 03-21-2007 at 09:24 AM. |

That helps me a lot. I was looking at your stats too and that helps. I hate the clothing sizes are not the same no matter where you go.

Try Gap! They sell in US sizes but the staff are really knowledgeable and will get you your correct size. Doh, you understand US sizes!
I love going in there as I can wear a 4! I am a 10 UK most of the time although M&S allow me an 8. Some of the trendier shops like Topshop I need a 12. Cosmic, never, never, never stop shopping. It is bad for you, especially on LC. lol |

I am scared something will be a huge size and then I will feel really bad.
Well someone's birthday and cakes were brought in today. That will not help with the clothing size thing. But I am being good. |

I just bought two pair of trousers yesterday and two tops. Happy to say they were in a smaller size than before. One trouser is a black w/ faint pin stripe down the legs which I will wear to my neice's confirmation next month. I need to hem them. I normally wouldn't buy anything I have to alter (I am not short, 5ft 7inches), but they were good quality and only 18 euro! The other pair are jeans. One top is a casual jumper w/ a hoodie thing and the other is a blue silk top w/ a v-neck and flowy type sleeves. Silk and it was only 24 euro.
I TK Maxx. I am not a shopper at all, in fact I hate it most days. But we deserve to look good, no matter what size we are, so get out there Cosmic and buy yourself something nice. There are some good sales on right now too! ![]()

Cosmic, I hate clothes shopping here too. Whenever I actually do buy something it sits in my wardrobe unworn for ages until I end up donating it to charity. I think I just shop at the wrong stores as what's closest to me is M&S and Tesco's. Recently solved my clothing dilemma as DH has outgrown his old Levi's and now they fit me!!! I like the way men's Levi's fit so much better than the women's ones anyway. There's no vanity sizing it's just waist and length measurement and there you go! So my "uniform" is worn Levi's and t-shirts. Good thing I'm a SAHM and don't have to dress up for work!
