Calling All UK and Europe LC folks

Hello....I am starting to try and find a spot for all of us who are in the UK to trade information. So if you are in the UK or Europe mark your spot and maybe we can find a place on the board to have a sticky thread and find time to meet up in chat to talk.

Cheers!!

Hi - New Jersey ex-pat living in Cardiff, Wales. Gotta admit, low carb is a challenge (but not impossible) compared to back in the States!

I was never gonna guess that!! Sounds a lot nicer than were I live! Have just found out where my first job is (well assuming I qualify that is!) - the outskirts of Manchester on the edge of the peak district. I can't wait! It's supposed to be lovely up there.

Sure I think this great. I didn't know there were so many of us out there.

I think LC is easier here in the UK because you don't have access to so many products. So you have to cook and know what is in your food.

I know the other night I saw a commercial for Splenda I was pretty excited. I just wish I could get my hands on the Syrups.

you can get some low carb foods, such as atkins bars from boots. But i havent seen any low carb splenda syraps. I really want the low carb pasta sauces, they used to have the in tecos and sainsbury, but not any more. i use to love having it with mince stuffed in a pepper. yum

Morning all,

It's great that there are so many of us in the UK, I think there may be a few lurkers too <waves> hi to them come and join us . . .

I agree, I cook everyday but that means that I eat cleanly so that's a bonus, I do order ketostix and bits and bobs on line and I'll order the bread mixes soon. Dr A's rev rolls are genius I cook them every weekend!! but like you cosmic I'd love to have some of the syrups just for variety.

The splenda advert got me all excited too, 'what's sugar?' so funny.

MSG it's rural but close enough to town for the shops, Yay!! The peak District is lovely, lucky you sx

I hope I haven't missed anyone, have a lovely day, it's sunny here in North Yorks.

Morning....I think we just have to keep checking in and keeping each other up to date on things.

It is very hard to find LC stuff here. If someone was in the US military or a spouse and could get things at the PX they could put it all on Ebay and make a killing here. HeeHee

So these Rev Rolls....can you tell me how you make them. I have only ever had an American recipe for them. I am very bad with converting. So if you can give me UK directions that would be helpful. What temp to cook on and how long, etc...

Don't forget to wash the noodles before you try and don't let the fishy smell put you off, you can't taste it once they're cooked. I thinlk they keep for about a year, I've got some that I've had for about 4 months, so far.

Rev rolls, I'm at work so from memory . . .

3 tblsps cottage cheese, I use cheese and chive Longley Farms, yum, their low fat is lower carb too?
1/2 tsp cream of tartar, the whites stiffen up a little better.
4 medium eggs (or 5 if they aren't very big)

I don't bother with Splenda but if I could find the syrups I'd make some sweet versions.

Just slightly different from the american recipe and these freeze too!!

p.s It's a bit cloudy now but I have a great view of the ewes and their new lambs out of my office window. (I'm so lucky)

p.p.s I have a fan oven, I cook them at 140 for 1 hour.

I got the diet rite aid (not as good as diet coke but it's drinkable) and the diet Ginger Ale (or beer, can't remember what it said). That ones really nice. I get soooo bored of water that I let myself have one of these occassionally. I think they are 40p a can so much cheaper than buying one in the shop and only marginally more expensive than buying cans in bulk.

The syrup is fine for induction as far as I can remember as it's got no carbs at all, no sugar alcohols (I think) and only sweetened with splenda. But don't quote me on it. I eat a lot of non-induction foods - as I know they don't cause me problems so my memory of what's in what is a bit hazy. But I'm sure someone else'll be able to correct me if I'm wrong. The only problem I found with the syrups is that because they're sweet they set off my cravings a little, so I have to be quite strict over how much I can have.
