, but I am willing to organize and host an event this summer in the Albany, NY area. Any takers?

I would be looking at about a 4-ish hour drive. I don't think thats bad, it would all depend on the date.

I'm a bit to the east of you - on a map, look for Newark Valley. We are out in the sticks near there. We go Rt 79 [runs right through the middle of Ithaca] to I-88 to get to Albany - it is almost exactly 3 hours for us.

How are you liking NY compared to FL? We are having a much cooler than usual summer so far. Are you someplace right in town or out in the country more?

It's great to see people near where I live. I am very new to this WOE, I'm starting induction tomorrow.

I live in the Clifton Park/Ballston Lake area. I wanted to know if anyone gets together for support groups? I have quite alot of weight to lose and would love to meet friends that are sharing the same obstacle to lose weight.

You must be pretty near the lake then I guess. My family has a cottage on the lake - west shore, about 30 min out of town. I am about 30 min in the opposite direction.

Glad you are liking it here so far. Very different from where you were before I would imagine. I know you just moved from FL - have you lived where it snows much before?

Yes, I am sorry for thread jacking, too, but....

I did live in Montana for a year. It was extremely cold, so I have experienced that before. Bit I am scared of driving in snow. I have never done it before.

In Missoula, it was weird that I didn't mind the crazy cold so much as the gloominess. My SO has absolutely no conception of what he's gotten himself into though. I think he's going to suffer.

At least it is not as bad near the lake - it seems to ameliorate the cold a bit. DH works at Cornell a lot and often we have double the snow that there is in Ithaca. The key to driving on snow is smoooooooothness - no sudden braking, sharp turns, quick acceleration. I kind of like driving in it. A simple trip to the grocery store can suddenly compare to a extreme adventure story on the National Geographic channel.

Albany is 180 miles even for me well to Crossgates LOL!

I grew up in Voorheesville college in Plattsburgh!
