Weekly Thread for 3/18/2013

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday!

I am on day one of three protein days as I am starting my 2nd 10 week program. Anyone else starting a program today?

Who else is having a protein day today?

Let's get the week started off great!

Hola!
Still on spring break.
Grandfather died yesterday at home surrounded by those who loved him. Rough weekend. Up 3lbs.
On "lifetime maintenance" for now. Will still go in and weigh in - shooting for daily.
Hoping to restart the 25th rather than the 1st.
Protein day today. Waiting for my "pizza" I ordered from NN to cook.
If I'm not around - well you know why!

Hi Bonkers! I'm on a protein day today, was up 1 pound at weigh in but that's not too bad after my anniversary weekend! Hope everyone has a great week!

Joann, so sorry. I can't imagine how hard it would be to stick to this plan when dealing with a death. You are so encouraging to people on the site, I hope you feel encouragement from others.

Ellie, To answer your question from the previous thread, I am 5'3". I too, have heard of people doing better after cheating and losing weight. Maybe it shakes our bodies up a bit? I'm on day two of alternative menu plan, and it's a killer!! Felt way more hungry then on the regular menu plan or even the plateau menu plan. But I have a good feeling it will work!

Torturing myself :-) with the AMP seems to be working. Im down a pound and a half After just two days & at lowest weight since starting LFL, and hopefully this means that the Plateau is breaking! I hope I'm not killing my metabolism!

Yay Rachlval!! Are you supposed to go back on the diet menu after you break your plateau by 1.5 pounds? I think I read that somewhere. Maybe you get to stop torturing yourself!

That is only with the plateau, not with the AMP. The AMP is the full 7 days. I know you do a protein day after plateau, can't recall with AMP. Maybe someone else knows.

Thanks for clarifying Joann! I've never been so hungry in my LIFE! LOL (Ok, so i'm being dramatic) but the AMP is difficult! I almost caved when buying french fries for my son in the McD drive thru! AND I resisted girls "wine" night out! I have my eye on the prize.

If anyone has any more details about the AMP diet, please share!!

I actually find the AMP easier to follow then the plateau. You can choose to move the "dinner" meal up earlier in the day.

Too bad you don't go to clinic - they could prescribe an appetite suppressant.

It hit me later, but yes, a protein day after - it would count as your weekly protein day.

Glad I found this thread... I am going to start on Friday... figure hubby will be out of town and it will be easier to do the Protein days while he is gone.... no distractions.... I have all three books found on amazon for really cheap and my cousin has had great success with L4L, she went to the clinic, but has lost 130+ pounds and Looks Fabulous.....She is my great inspiration.....

That's exactly what I did, Snapdragon. Hubby left town and I started my protein days. I lost about 6-7 pounds the 10 days he was gone. It has proven to be much more difficult since he has been home! and good luck!

Re: AMP

After any "specialized" menu plan, the nurses advise to do a protein day.

I don't know of any "specialized" menu plan but here is a sample protein day menu without LFL products...

7:00 am Lowfat Cottage Cheese=4
9:00 am Tofu/veggie cutlet=12
11:00 am Nonfat Yogurt=9
12:00 pm Nonfat Milk=12
1:00 pm 98% Lean Cold Cuts=1
3:00 pm Chicken Breast=0
5:00 pm Lowfat Cottage Cheese=4
7:00 pm Hardboiled Egg=1
9:00 pm Nonfat Yogurt=9

Total Carbohydrates = 52

You can mix it up and there are plenty of other options, it's all in the book. Ralph's sells CARBmaster yogurt and that is only 4 carbs per serving.

Here is the AMP that Joann posted in a previous thread...

OK the AMP (Alternative Meal Plan) is this:

You do it for 7 days, but only ONCE in an 8 week period. You follow the same plan for the 7 days it is:

Breakfast - 2 liquid proteins
Lunch - 2 liquid proteins
Snack - 1 protein bar
Dinner - 1 protein, 1 veg, 1 fruit, 2 cups lettuce
Snack - 1 liquid protein

Dinner options are these (& only these!) :
Protein - 1 egg or 2 egg whites, 31/2 oz chicken breast, 2 1/2 canned albacore tuna, 2 1/2 fat free lean cold cuts OR 6oz tofu

Veg - 1 cup broc, 1 cup cucumber. 1 cup celery, 1 x 4 inch dill pickle

fruit - 1 small peach, 2 med apricots, 1 med tangerine, 1/2 cup cubed watermelon

I figured as much, that's why I posted the AMP that you posted in the other thread Thanks for posting that, I just might give it a try!
I'm having the hardest time sticking with the plateau menu with my husband around and I'm plateaued again

charliesangel, the plateau menu is in the LFL phase 1 book, page 172

I caved tonight & had some red wine, after 7 days on AMP! Lost 4 lbs this week tho! Leaving for LA tomorrow & looking forward to a visit to the Lindora clinic to buy some of their products. Wish me luck staying on the program... I'll be visiting a friend from high school (20 yr friendship) & I'm thinking it will be hard to stay focused!

Good luck Rachlval! Have a great time When I was in NY and I indulged myself, I just stayed low carb, I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either. My advice would be to try to stay in Ketosis and you should be ok. That's what I did and I managed a week of fun, food and wine and I was fine!
