Weekly Thread for 01/28/2013
Hiyas!
Just starting this weeks thread since I didn't see one. I haven't gone in to clinic yet, so nothing to report. How is everyone else doing? |

No worries, cactus, life gets crazy sometimes.
Hey Joann! I am still plugging along, super busy so haven't checked in the last few days. Still holding at 181/182. |

Monday I was down .8 but was back up on Tuesday. Yesterday I was down .5 but haven't brokenthrough the 230 mark so I have a feeling another plateau is coming my way. I'm very tempted to say NO - I can't see myself doing plateau during Super Bowl. We are just going to the in-laws, who are VERY supportive and even asked what we could eat, but I'd rather enjoy a bunless burger or chicken then fish

When you go in the 1st thing you do is get a keto stick and pee on it. You weigh in. Sometimes they take blood pressure and measurements. They look over your daily action plan. They make suggestions on what to do. For example yesterday since I was down .5 but not out of the 230s it was suggested I skip the fruit at dinner. They might suggest a protein dinner or the plateau/amp menu. I've found that if your weight is steady for about 2-3 days that plateau menu comes out. If you have something major coming up they will help you solve any obstacles. Plus you get your daily b12 shot. The nurses get to know you and take an interest in you. I was rather sadded to hear one of my fave nurses from 2 years ago was no longer working for Lindora. I had just seen her up at the Rancho office and had thought about making that my main clinic just to see her. My hubby gets even more individualized attention since he is a diabetic - having to meet with their provider once a week. Oh yeah - before you start the program you have blood tests/labs and the provider goes over the results with you I highly admire anyone that can do any weightloss program on their own. I can't. Even weight watchers weekly meeting (jump on scale/recod weight/move on) wasn't enough support for me. I often joked with my hubby about hiring a life coach to follow me around. Sometimes I wish Lindora was opened on weekends.

New to LFL!
Hi!
I have never done LFL before. I have done weight watchers several times and am currently a member but have not been able to lose weight with WW. I think it just offers too much freedom! I'm starting my protein days on Monday. My husband will be heading to Berlin for 10 days on Monday, so I think it is a good day to start, and the weekend should be good for prep days before he leaves! He is a pretty bad influence. For the prep days, is it really necessary to follow the guide, or is the crappy diet that I typically have enough? I am only on a 4 week program with clinic visits 2x weekly. I have about 15-20 pounds to lose, if it works for me I may sign up for more time. 15-20 pounds in 4 weeks is probably pretty ambitious! Can anyone suggest a fiber supplement with the lowest carb content? I was really happy to find this forum of support and look forward to getting to know you all! Ellie |

You don't have to follow the prep days to a "t". I did the 1st time - eating exactly what they had outlined in the book. The 2nd time I just ate normal (hubby didn't do prep days since he has no gallbladder). I was using Lindora's Fiber-Lin but (3 carbs) but since it is no longer in production, I was using some fiber stuff hubby picked up at sam's (not a major brand). You have to do 3 servings a day and each serving is 1c ...so it is still 3. I should get back to taking it ![]() |

Lindora use to have thier own (Fiber-Lin) but from what it sounded like the company that was making/distributing it stopped and perhaps they were looking for a new company to work with.
Finally broke into the 220s yesterday - 229.3! Hubby also broke the 300s by weighing in at 299.3. We both are in the end of our 4th week and each have a 13-14lb loss. I went ahead and purchased another program for hubby - taking advatange of the buy 6 get 4 free offer. At first he wasn't sure if he would continue after the 10 weeks but he does. He went out Thursday with a friend. Had no snacks during the movie. He went out for dinner and had a turkey burger. He removed the bun (made out of that hawaiian bread - his fave!) and only indulged in 1 tater tot. I'm so proud of him. SuperBowl Sunday will be an obstacle but I think we got it figured out. In-laws will grill. We'll take our salad and dressing. Hubby plans on making hot wings and we'll take a meat/cheese tray and fruit tray. Maybe some pork rinds for that salty crunch. I'm also thinking snow peas to dip in my mother-in-law's yummy queso dip (rather than the tortilla chips - my downfall). |

Hi all.
I am coming to a close on my 4 weeks and I have lost 17 pounds. I am very excited. I also took advantage of the special on the 10 week package and bought 2 more. Have a great weekend everyone! |

Regarding fiber- I use the store brand of fiber powder (equivalent to benefiber) daily. I've been low carb since October 1999 and felt great until menopause hit and what worked before wasn't working anymore - and that's when I found info about LFL here at LCF - where I've lurked for years for continuing support. Like all of you I do best with a more structured plan like lean for life along with on-line support.

Forgot to add the counts on the fiber.... A serving has 15 calories and 4 g carbs, but 3 of those are fiber, 0 sugar grams so I don't know what the 4th gram of carbs is!

Ugh, sorry I haven't checked in guys. My son has been so sick. I am still around and haven't really been doing that great of a job, but haven't gained either, so I have to get back on track. I feel so much better when I am strict.
Hope everyone is doing well. For fiber, I use the Fiber Well gummies by vitafusion. 2 gummies is 10 cals, 6 carbs (5 fiber). Bonkers, Joann, you guys are doing awesome! Congrats! Last edited by adiasmc1; 02-02-2013 at 10:41 AM.. |
