Weekly Thread for 01/21/2013

Hi all.

Starting the weeking thread for everyone to keep in touch, get support and ask questions.

I am still in a plateau. The scale has only gone down 1/2 pound since Friday. Today is my protein day, so I am hoping to see some movement on the scale when I check in tomorrow.

How's everyone else doing?

Just checking in. Was 185.2 this morning from 189.2 at start a week ago. I didnt lose last night, but I ate a bit more than usual yesterday as well.

I am a little PO'd, I went to the clinic to check in today and the girl was like, oh, sorry we don't have any records of what you started at...I was like, what happened to all the information the girl wrote down when I came in the first day. She said, oh well she must not have put it in. I just didn't say anything, just weighed got my shot and got out. You would think for as much money as I paid they would be a tad more organized.

Ok, rant over. I was just mainly upset because I was hoping to get my starting measurements today so I could track those myself also. Because I know they have gone down from the first day. So now I don't know those numbers. I am going to ask them to check my file next time I go in so I can see if maybe they are in there and someone was just too lazy.

Oh well. I feel pretty good. So far, not using a lot of products, they just seem really high in carbs to me. Ok for occasional use and when there is nothing else, but am mainly sticking to real food.

Hope everyone is doing well. I don't think after my 10 weeks are up that I will resign up, think I will just do it on my own tracking everything I put in my mouth. I am doing that now anyway...tracking everything...calories, carbs, fat, fiber and protein.

Hope everyone has a great week! Hope the scales move for you all!

Happy Monday!

Adi - that sucks. I know when I first started, I started on a Friday so the computer doesn't count my starting weight, just the weight I weighed in on the following Monday (which was a 3lb loss). I'm sure they will get it all straightened up.

I was up .8. Not too bad. I knew I wasn't on track Saturday night (poker party and beer tasting with friends) but made sure to do a protein day Saturday along with my normal Monday protein day. I start the plateau menu tomorrow.

Just checking in. Down to 182.8 this morning. Don't know if that will hold, but we will see. Busy day today, but just wanted to check in. Hope everyone is doing all right.

Checking in too. My weight is still at a plateau. Not an ounce up or down. I am quite frustrated but will continue to follow the program and hope for a change tomorrow.

Let's make today a great day!

Hey Bonkers, sorry, those plateaus suck! It is so discouraging. Are you maybe at a previous weight that you sat at for awhile? I know when I get to those weights where I hung around for a little before I gained more, it usually takes me longer to push past them and lose.

So hang in there, hopefully it will start moving again.

I did notice for me, sadly, if I go much over 1000 calories a day, I won't lose the next morning. I had two days where I ate a little more - about 1300 respectively and I didn't lose either day, when I dropped back down to 1000 cals, I lost again.

I am basically tracking everything. I set my limits at:

1200 calories or less
60 carbs or less (not net/usable - no subtracting anything)
130 grams of protein or less
61 grams of fat or less

It seems if I stay within these parameters, I do ok. We will see how that works as time goes on.

I am not exersizing consistently right now, so hopefully when I get a little more active, I can up my #s a smidge.

I didn't tell anyone at the clinic about doing it this way, I just am.

Just checking in - 183.2 this morning. Up and down, up and down. But as long as it is mainly heading down, I am happy.

I have such a distortion in my head - it took me like 4-5 years to gain all this weight - and I really have to fight with myself why I don't lose 20 pounds overnight. So unrealistic

I just have to keep telling myself, just focus on today and then do the same tomorrow and that will help me get through. I also have to reiterate to myself that it will take me at least 6-8 months to get to any kind of healthy weight and probably longer to get to goal.

Yeah, Joann! Glad to hear it, sometimes our bodies are just so stubborn.

Cactus - so sorry to hear you are so sick. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

182.8 this morning for me. I am still not exersizing consistently yet. I need to get on that soon, I think it will help a lot.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey everyone! I posted on the other thread but I just saw this one. I am on day 1 and I have read the book twice to make sure I fully understand it!

I weighed in today at 177.4 . I am feeling pretty sick this morning, I really hope I don't come down with the flu or anything.

I was wondering how long you have been on LFL? How much weight you have lost in how much time?

I had done LFL 2 years ago and after 30 weeks (3 rounds of 10 week programs) was down 40 pounds. Fell off the wagon and quit program. Started again this past July/August. I lost 20-22lbs during the 1st 10 week program. I stalled big time during the 2nd program and only lost 12.

I think the clinic expects you to drop about 2-3 lbs a week.

Hubby and I are in the midst of our 3rd week and both are down a little over 10 lbs. Thirty-six lbs total for me. No falling off or quitting. Life long commitment (with some hiccups) from now on.

Hey Angie, I have been on 10 days today, down 7 pounds.

I don't expect that to continue. I will be very happy with 1.5 - 2 pounds a week.

Hope you feel better.

Way to go Joann - you and your hubby are doing great so far!

Wow Joann and Jen - thats great weight loss! Congratulations!

Yesterday I didn't come home until 9pm after working 2 jobs - I was exhausted and ended up not sticking to my protein day. Except I still lost 1.2 pounds - I'm at 176.2 today. I am going to re-do my 3 protein days starting today.

I really would like to lose around 15-20 lbs in 28 days. I really hope thats do-able - this seems like one of the only programs that people show that kind of loss.

Do you guys exercise as well?

Good morning !

That is a great loss Joann! You will be out of the 230s in no time

Today is my second protein day, yesterday went really well. I tried the l-glutamine and chromium supplementation for cravings that someone recommended. I am so surprised that last night I had no desire to eat anything after dinner!!! (unbelievable for me!)

This mornings weigh in was 174.8 -- so I lost 1.4 lbs today as well.

I am going out to lunch with some friends . I was planning to get the salmon and vegetables -- would I be able to include the vegetables and just add it into my 50g-100g carb count?

Hey everyone, busy day yesterday so didn't get to post. In Court all day pretty much. Down to 182.2 today, kind of stuck here for a bit it seems, so will just wait it out.

Yeah Joann, it finally budged. Great news!

Angie, great job so far. To answer your previous question, I haven't been exercising consistently, running a few times a week when I can squeeze it in. As for lunch with friends, it's up to you. For me, I am trying to make this a lifestyle change not a quick fix, so to me, if you have to step outside the parameters a little sometimes, I am ok with that. I just keep in the back of my head that I might not lose as fast. But I would rather lose a little slower and eat a little more variety. However, that said, I still eat ONLY low carb food, maybe just a few more calories or fat. So I would do the vegetables, but that is kind of something you have to decide. You know, also, you have to ask if can you just stick to that and not justify eating other things you shouldn't. For some that starting to justify eating things "off plan" leads to a slippery slope of bad decisions. Everyone is different.

I'm wishy-washy with exercising. I tend to get really obsessive with it. I had a gym membership but I go through ruts of where I go all the time and then I just stop. I finally cancelled it after not going a good 6+ months. I had bought a treadmill during the summer. I use it here and there. With this program - I started wearing a pedometer (fitbit) and also signed up for Zumba classes through the city. I do Mon & Wed Zumba classes and will start taking another class on Fridays. On the weekends hubby and I just try to get out there and walk. Since it was raining today we headed over to the mall to walk around before the stores opened.

Today I went to Sprouts to pick up some Walden Farm salad dressing (0 carbs!). I was surprised to find they also sold the individual packets. Hubby picked up there alfredo sauce.

We took out niece to the theater to see Peter Pan. I smuggled in some Lindora snacks (wafers and bars) to eat in the theater and on the way home we enjoyed more Lindora snacks (cheddar bite & sour cream & onion O's). Got the munchkin Carls Jr before dropping her off at home and we went out for dinner with a friend. Shrimp skewers, double veggies (no rice), and salad with no dressing. I pulled out my Walden Farm packet and used my 0 carb dressing. I did have a sliver of garlic toast bread before my friend ate it (knew he would so I didn't tell them to "hold it"). I have a friend (who I had found out about Lindora from) who when she is on plan will not stray....I wish I had that willpower and admire her for it but I'm just not there.

Hi to all of you, I am back, ready to start again tomorrow with 3 protein days. I have been trying to do WW this month but i cheat too much with so many options. I lost really well with Lindora 2 years ago, since then really stopping and starting over and over again....ready to commit again. I find this to be the easiest and most effective diet. Glad to see so much action on this board!!
