Thinking about LFL and have some questions
I have a LOT to lose. Is there anyone here that has lost over 100 pounds and kept it off? Also, I am thinking I would have blood sugar issues if I suddenly drop really low calories. This has happened in the past. I also have gallbladder issues due to an extremely lowcalorie and almost completely fat free diet twenty years ago. So i guess what I am wondering is, should I start out at more calories and more fat? Has anyone done this? Also, what do you all do when an 'eating occasion' comes up? We frequently have vendors bring us lunch at work and have no idea what it will be until it gets here, plus there's all the birthdays and regular holidays. I would love to hear all of your thoughts and opinions on all of this. Thanks.

Check out the LFL in an nut shell thread and then check out the success stories for more info. Gallbladder issues arive from lowfat diets. You can structure you lfl to be higher in fat. You will just lose slower. I suggest you buy the book. Take it to your doctor and go from there.

If it was me and I had so many issues, I'd personally opt to do the program through a clinic. They would be able to answer your questions/concerns and guide you through the program. Once I got all my questions answered and knew how to work the program for my needs then I'd be ok doing it on my own.
I know if you go to the Lindora facebook page and click on specials they have a 6 week/2 day a week program for $299 and IIRC this also includes the labs. If my husband was seriously interested about doing Lindora this is what I would tell him to do - he also has issues such as diabetic, high blood pressure, and has had his gall bladder removed back in the day when he lost a lot of weight on Atkins. I wouldn't feel comfortable having him follow the program just from the book because the book doesn't address these needs - one being not being able to eat grapefruit on plateau days because it counteracts one of his medications. As far as the book is concerned you really just need the Phase 1 book. I have both but I have never really looked at the Phase 2 book. IIRC Phase 2 book is for maintenance and keeping that weight off. I just checked the description on the Lindora site and yup it is for maintenance. I can't offer any suggestions on what to do with holidays/birthdays. I have those same problems and plan on asking for help when that time comes. I want to start back on the Lindora plan (fell of plan back in Jan '11) but I know I have a major vacation coming up - 3 days in Florida and a 4 day Disney Cruise - so I'm waiting to start after the vacation. I did the same thing when I started the plan in July'10 - waited until after I got back from New York to start. Even if the vendors are bringing in food - pack your own to take and eat it. I've said no to going out to lunch with work friends so I could stick on plan. Or I'd go ONCE that week and decline the rest. I've also taken out my own food to eat during a work provided luncheon. Gotta do what you gotta do. My old clinic manager lost over 300 lbs on Lindora. Once I realized she was featured on the site and is pictured on the daily action plan journal, she really became a visual motivation for me.

I take my own food for lunches, family get togethers etc. My family knows that I HAVE to eat a special diet, I am also gluten intolerant. So they completely understand. As for the vendors....don't eat it, take your own food, you have that choice. Oftentimes the food I take is better than what they would have anyways.
As for blood sugar issues, I have Pre-Diabetes/Insulin resistance, so I have to eat every few hours or I get weak/lightheaded and pass out. I just make sure to have my protein snacks and I do just fine.
