LFL TIPS PLEASE!

Okay. I'm 8 days new to LFL & am a complete novice with this thread stuff. Hopefully if I get any tips I'll be able to figure out how to come back & actually read & benefit from them. I have 10 lbs that I've been struggling to lose since Christmas. Right before Christmas I was 3 lbs from my goal weight. I guess I got alittle over confident & over indulged during the holidays & gained 7lbs. I've been a life time member of WW for 30 years. However; finding a good leader/meeting wasn't happening anymore. Week after week I either stayed the same, lost a pound only to regain it the next week. Then they changed the plan AGAIN & I couldn't adjust. I also need to mention that I workout at the gym 6 days a week, meet with a personal trainer two of those days for core & strength & I do beach bootcamp. So being physically active is not my problem. Feeling like a rat on a wheel spinning with no results these past couple of months has made me look at my diet. I had heard alot about LFL & it's success & I knew it was high protein/low carb. Going into the clinic I felt like I was going into rehab. I was terrified to give up my carbs. I decided to go the cheap route & buy the book @ Rite Aid & started following it. I've lost 6 lbs in the last 8 days. First 3-4 days were really easy. Plus I started seeing results immediately. However; these last 2-3 days have been very challenging. My ? to anyone who can help & is still awake at this point in my post is, how do you eat the leafy greens twice a day without gagging? I've always loved my vegi's. The last two days though I can barely choke them down! I've added different low carb vegis, FF dressings, used different leafy greens etc & it's not helping. I really want to finish this out but the extreme limited menu selection is feeling claustrophobic. Also how many grams of protein should I be eating per meal? Per snack? Per day? Thanks so much for all your help.

Hi Doll... Great job on getting to the gym 6x per week! That's fantastic

My daily carb intake is usually around 60 carbs, somewhere between 58-63. That's including three snacks and three meals (breakfast=protein & grain...lunch/dinner-protein & veg & fruit & lettuce). It's hard for me to help much with the "gagging on the greens" (lol) because I like mine. I chop 1 head each romaine and iceberg and leave them in the salad spinner in the fridge and use that for 2-3 days. Any suggestions I could think of you've already tried. The only thing I would do if I was in your shoes is maybe omit the leafy greens entirely, but bulk up a bit on your veggies. I'm not saying that's the right thing to do....just what I would opt for.

The nurses at the clinic have never given me an exact protein amount I should be eating per day, but I will say that they have made comments when I do too much FF greek yogurt, which has major protein... 23 grams per 1 cup! They have warned me that too much can make you constipated and is bad for your kidneys. So now I only have it 1-2x per week, it's delish with cinnamon and a touch of splenda. I have never counted protein grams, though....or calories for that matter. Just carbs.

Hope I was help

Cheers

Deputydoll...I have a great new recipe with greens...not sure if its on the menu plan but I love it. I also don't mind my greens so I don't have that hard of a time eating them.

my new favorite salad are leeks and asparagus...Boil the leeks until they are firm then in the same water boil asparagus. (add salt to water). Let I make my own dressing with Dijon Mustard, lemon, EVO, white wine vinegar....i'll add shrimp to it...its bomb. I sometimes use the crostini things from Lindora and make them soggy croutons..haha.

Also I saw on tv the other day, using apple cider vinegar to steam broccoli?

Hope that helps

Hi Doll,

I have to keep my carbs below 40 to stay in ketosis. As a result, sometimes I don't even get veggies at night. I try to make a salad at lunch and then just protein for dinner (when I'm really following the plan).

Yep, you get totally sick of the same stuff day in and day out. I think that's why I seem to start and stop a million times. I've been trying to do 10 pound blocks and then give myself a break.

Feeling like you are being tortured by a diet is not fun. Good job though on the weightloss. I do believe that L4L is good!
