Portion Control and Calories
Hi all,
I have been on and off of the LC routine for many years. It appears that I don't pay attention to the calories and portion control. Can anyone out there help....thanks. Paula  |

Did you lose weight on the LC routine?
I've found that portion size is important only in regards to you eat to satisfy your hunger and then stop. This is the best thing, I think, about the low carb WOL. When I tried the watch-your-calories thing, I lost 15 pounds and then stuck. I ate less, but didn't lose. I was hungry all the time, and then I started gaining weight again, even while eating less. That was the last straw there. Since I've done the low carb thing, I eat when I'm hungry and ONLY when I'm hungry. Remember: all-you-need-to-eat, not all-you-can-to-eat. |

Also remember the delay between eating and feeling full. I think some people eat too fast and are accustomed to eating everything on their plate. This leads to over-eating, and I think people in this position should strongly consider portion-sizing. If you're still hungry afterwards, eat some more. It's important that you stop before you hit the fence, though; otherwise you'll break through and fall over the edge.

I TOTALLY watch my portions for carb control, not calories on the Lindora plan. For instance, a portion of cottage cheese is 1/2 cup, cheese is an ounce or a stick, chicken is a small breast, lettuce is 2 cups in a salad. Typically, the portions are larger in a restaurant, so be careful of that.

I just realized this was in the "lean for life" board. I'm not sure if my previous comments apply here.
