OCTOBER LFL CHALLENGE

Good Morning Everyone

All are welcome, new or old.

Let's start fresh with listing our goals for the month and keep up the encouragement to make it a successful one!

I'm on a protein day today, and will be until ketosis kicks in. (hopefully by Saturday.LOL)

Goal for this month.....15 pounds!

We can do it everyone!

I've lost 50 pounds in three months once before using this program. I'm aiming for a loss of 35 by the new year.

Enjoy your day.

Let's also make ourselves accountable to exercising every day too.

Who's up for that challenge???? I know I need someone to kick my bu$$ into gear.

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to be doing Lean for Life. My October challenge is not about weight, but it is to have at least 25 perfect days, following the program to a T.

Of course, I will still be weighing. And for my first day, I lost 4 pounds. Yay!

happy october to you all.
I am busy with 4 days of dog shows.. and that is keeping us busy and out of the regular L4L eating program
We left at 6 am this morning.. and we had two whole wheat waffles.. eggos.. in the toaster.. for breakfast.. lunch was atkins bars.. and then we got home after 6PM by the time we got the dogs fed and settled.. well..we where starving..
It has been a cold and wet day at the dog show on top of that.. soooo Comfort FOOD was on the menu..
I had some left over meatballs.. I made.. and whole wheat penne.. soooo that was dinner.. and than I had a small piece of cheese cake.. argh! but..it was one of those days... I enjoyed it.. and now I am having a hot apple with cinnamon.
so.. that is how the eating has been these last few days..
got another day tomorrow..leaving at 6am again... but I will be home at taround noon.. so I am hoping for better eating.

so.. just wanted to check in.. and keep in touch.

Hi, I'd like to join in here if I may. I know Monika from another thread and I know what great success she's had on LFL. I've gained a few pounds above my goal weight and just can't seem to stick with anything very long to get it off and I sure don't want to head into the "eating season" already on the up side. I also exercise regularly but this will help me be more accountable for that too.

Today is my 1st day and so far so good. My only real hardship will be no cream in my coffee. I love my coffee with cream.

Ready to do this right!

I've done so many diet programs and tried LFL once before, but my friend who is 30 just had a mild heart attack and she is much healthier than I, so it was definitely a wake up call!!

Today is my first day on LFL and I am ready for the challenge. I know I can accomplish this goal and am happy to have support through this forum. My goal is not to focus on my weight loss (although that will be a great bonus) but to eat healthier and to exercise more. I probably won't weigh myself everyday, but maybe once a week so I don't become obsessive. I do have an actual goal weight which is 170...I am at 230 now (5'10").

My goal for October is to stick to the LFL plan and to walk each day even if it is just for 30 minutes. I would also like to lose 10lbs this month, but again I do not want to become obsessive about it!!!

I'm looking forward to learning more about LFL and how I accomplish my goals and stop killing myself with food!!

Hi all,

This is day 5 for me. I have lost 8 pounds so far, even with having a not-so-good night on Saturday night and eating Chinese food yesterday. But I figure as long as I can keep "getting back on" right after I fall off, my good days have to accumulate faster than my bad days.

Congratulations to everyone else getting lean for life!

Ok, day one almost over and I did good. From 3 or 4 in the afternoon til bedtime is my worst time. So for today I've had:

B: 2 eggs & 4 T FF Coffeemate
S: 1 c. skim milk & 1 scoop protein powder
L: 3.5 oz turkey breast & 1 HB egg
S: 4 oz low fat cottage cheese
D: 3.5 oz pork loin & 1 hb egg
S: 1 c. FF plain yogurt with splenda

Tomorrow I plan pretty much a repeat of today. Maybe a different meat for lunch and dinner.

ETA: I also did an interval workout of 32 minutes.

Today

I'm feeling really good about today although I have been feeling pretty hungry this afternoon. I'm trying to eat at least a small snack every 2-3 hours so my blood sugar doesn't get too low, but I'm finding it a little difficult. I know it will take some time to get used to this and the type of schedule needed to succeed.

B: I don't ever eat breakfast because I get sick, so I had 2 cups of hot tea.
S: 5 slices of hard salami
L: 1 small can tuna w/ 1 tsp mayo & relish, hot cocoa
S: 3 oz. cheddar cheese
S: 1 slice whole wheat bread with cream cheese
D: Shrimp & Veggie Stir-Fry

I plan on one or two other protein snacks this evening depending on how hungry I am.

Total Carbs so far: 26
Water/Tea: 10 cups

I've done an hour of yoga so far today and will go for a walk after my dinner settles a bit.

I definitely need to go to the grocery store again tomorrow and buy a few more LFL friendly snacks.

good morning to you all
We had a good time at the dog shows.. and eating was adapted.. LOL
We made it through the weekend.. without any weight gain.. so we are happy about that. and consider it a successful weekend..
Yesterday was supposed to be our protein day.. but.. I forgot the cooler with our food and drinks at home! and well.. we ended up having to eat lunch at a sonic burger.. only thing that was around..
so... I had a grilled chicken wrap and iced tea..unsweetened.. so.. that was good
and then dinner last night I made stir fry.. with toasted sesame oil.. and lean pork
So.. today. protein day for us.
I had a mock danish... for breakfast
snack..atkins shake
lunch... cottage cheese
afternoon snack... lean cold cuts
dinner... lean steak

yeah.. maybe an atkins advantage bar somewhere in between
trying to make it to the gym this afternoon.
but I have a lot of work to do around the house and do shopping etc...
we will try to get at least a walk in tonight.. if nothings else.

good to see so many on the board.. trying Lean 4 Life...

Hi There!

Okay, so I've joined this board soo many times and then just dropped due to lack of will power, etc. Sooo, I'm actually on day 2 of LFL and things are going very well. What I've done differently is I've started with the WL days first. I needed to just gain control of what I was actually doing. So my plan is to complete 4 days of WL and then do my 3 protein days. A bit backwards, but whatever works right?

Monika - Great loss for the week That's awesome! I'm sure you had fun at the dog shows!! Sounds like fun to me, tiring but fun!!

I hope everyone has a great day!!

I have a question. When I start the WL days do I have to choose a grain or fruit from the list or is there a criteria to go by in choosing things that might not be on the list?

Today is day 3 of protein and it's going well. I did have a little bit of cauliflower last night with dinner but as of this a.m. I'm down 4.5 for this week so far. And that makes me pretty happy!

OH great!!!! congrats! that is awesome!
I pretty much try to stick with the food list and what is on it.. but.. I have eating other stuff .. just try to watch the portions and cut calories and fat where you can.

the trick is to stay within your carbs.. I have to be around 50carbs... 80 is to much for me.
So watch for the carb count..

Thanks Monika. I'll keep on eye on that. I hope this keeps up but I'm sure it'll slow down now after the initial loss. And since I only have a few pounds to lose. Those few pounds have been some of the hardest pounds I've tried to lose.

Dinner here was good too. Tilapia with Cavendish Greek seasonings.

Hey Monika, is it ok to use the Atkins shakes and bars on this plan? I see you use them sometimes. Do they slow your losses at all? I have some bars I've had forever. I don't even know if they'd still be good but I might give them a try and see if they don't bother you.

I'm so excited that tomorrow I get fruit!!

Hi, guys. I've been doing L4L since Sept 21st, and I'm down 10 pounds so far. Forty more to go. I've begun walking to and from work and also trying to walk over lunch. This brings me to about 4 or 5 miles a day. However, I need to start working on my abs. I was doing pilates, which I actually liked, but I've found it's begun to bother my lower back (I've had back problems in the past), and I don't want to end up laid up for days over this. I've been doing some light upper arm work, and that's going okay. But does anyone have a particularly good ab workout I should try? I've lost weight before, and it seems that I'm never quite satisfied because I still have loose skin around my stomach, no matter hw much weight I lose. Tips?

well.. I think we are supposed to buy the lindora protein products... but I just can't justify ordering them.. for 3 adults following the program.. so... I am substituting with Atkins bars. I ordered some of the lindora products and I was not impressed with some of their flavors and taste.
so... I am winging it with the atkins bars.
I use them when I have to as a grab and go.. when we are on the run... or traveling.. etc... or... poor prior planning! LOL !

and I can run to Sam's or Costco and just get me a big case...

Newbie

Hi. I am new to this forum and new to L4L. I am on my 3rd protein day and have lost 5 lbs. I am worried because I am starting the weight loss portion of the diet tomorrow and don't want to go out of control. I am just following the book and am not really sure if I should be taking any vitamin supplements? I am taking a 1 a day for energy. Does anyone have any suggestions on vitamins? Thank You for your help and good luck!

I'm still doing well. I can't believe I've lost 8 pounds since Monday a.m.!! That's not usual is it? I'm on my 2nd day of weight loss days and was afraid adding the fruit and grain would jump me back up but I was down another .5 this a.m. The weekend is always the toughest for me. Of course.

Oh that is wonderful! congrats! I don't think that weightloss is unusual. It will slow down a little later on... thats why you go to the 2 adjustment weeks.. so your body will not get used to it...

I am happy for you and your loss.

Just got back from the gym and my workout.
that made it 3 days in a row for this week.. and I am happy about that.

No loss for me this morning... but thats ok... I take what I can get.
I baked some artisian bread ... and I had a small slice of that..
I will count it as my grain.
there is really nothing in the bread.. other than whole wheat flour.. that BTW I grind my self from whole wheat... yummy... salt... and yest.. I also add some flax seed and some oats... so.. lots and lots of good fiber.
I will take that to our pot luck dinner tonight.. so it will be eaten up tonight.. LOL
I hope not to over eat..
I made... german goulash. that is almost like beef chili..
and for desert. I made apple bread.. very yummy and also high in fibers

I will try to eat very little of it! hahahah..
