Hello! I am brand new to this website and it's boards and chat rooms, but am so excited that I found it. I live in So California and I joined Lindora and started the "Lean for Life" program 4 1/2 weeks ago. I have lost 23 lbs so far. Today is the first day I have felt like quitting. I wont. I have been doing good with the LFL program. I haven't cheated or anything, but today...I really wanted to. If it's not too late I would like to join your group. My goal is to loose 100 lbs in 2 years, but Lindora believes I can loose 125 lbs in 1 year. Time will tell. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and see if you are still accepting newbies?

Hi everyone!
I have had a crazy week and have not posted but wanted to welcome all the new posters. This program works and this is a great place to ask questions and get support. After I stalled for 2 weeks I am now down 3.5 lbs. I am reaching the end of the weightloss phase and will be starting metabolic adjustment next Tuesday. For those that have completed the metabolic adjustment phase what have you used for your grain serving. Can we have brown rice or whole wheat pasta for our grain serving? I am looking forward to being able to eat a bit more but even more excited to get back into the weightloss phase to lose the last 10lbs. For everyone just starting this is a great program. If you have a difficult time losing on programs like weightwatchers this is a great alternative. Laura, hope your day ended on a better note with your little one. My three year old has been giving me grief lately too so I can so relate. Tammy |

Welcome, Planolady. Yes, we are always open for new people. Mom, good for you! I used the Special K blueberry cereal on MA. It's got great flavor and it's lower calorie content and carbs that the regular kind. I did not use brown rice or pasta, cuz it's not in the book.
I feel like I'm stalled again too. Grrr..but, I know I can get there. These last 13 pounds are stubborn. Tammy, yes the day ended on a great note. But today is a new story. I just breathe. Pulled a calf muscle at the gym yesterday. So, I'm hoping I can still do some workout. We shall see! Keep going girls! |

Plnolady! Don't give up...you've lost an incredible amount in four weeks and should be super proud of yourself!! We're here for each other and you can really acheive that weight loss before you know it. Don't sabotage yourself....that's my BIGGEST problem. I lose, then I feel like I've worked so hard or something happens and I give up. (good old saying...two steps forward, one step back) Then I'm working on losing the same weight over and over again.I too am super glad that I found this site and these wonderful gals keep it going for me everytime they post. Thanks everyone ![]() I used Weight Watchers bread and pita on my MA days Tammy. I too avoided pasta and rice during this time. I really enjoy eating bread and this one is guilt free for me. Laura, my youngest is 3 (she's the fourth one) and I tell you, I giggled because it sounded like I wrote your day. What we mommies go through! I'm on my second protein day...it's much better than yesterday. I've been drinking tons of water to fill up. Have a great day my friends. ![]()

Waahhh.
Well...shoot.
Friday just about did me in! I had a funeral to go to and was a little nervous once I saw that it was all pasta salads and sandwiches. Luckily(?) when it was our table's turn to go all that was left was cheese and desserts! Dodged a bullet on that one - went home and had a salad. DH was very helpful in hiding his ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookie bar from me. I said i wanted one and he asked me if I really did. I wanted to punch him, but he saved me from the guilt. That night was my SIL's B-day and we went to a japanese steak house. I decided I was going to have sushi. (I know....I Know....) but I ended up having A LOT of sushi, noodles and rice. Then finished the evening off with chocolate cake. I was pretty lax over the weekend with eating though. And a little stricter on Monday. Happy to say those four pounds are gone, so I just might break the 40's yet this week. Lily- I was just thinking the same this morning about having to re-lose the same weight. It stinks! Plnolady - welcome! WTG on the loss! Holy cow is that a lot! Laura - I wish i was in your situtation - these FIRST 13 pounds are being stubborn enough DD doesn't want to go in her infant carrier either. She straightens everything out and holds it there. I can't get her to bend sometimes! Made me laugh though, I hope the stresses in your life give you a break soon!Tammy - WTG in the loss too! It's got to feel good to be down after a stall. ![]() Clare - thanks for the advice - i hope it helped someone. It takes forever to go grocery shoping now that I have to read everything and do math... ![]() Kittym - you will TOTALLY be able to reach 30 lbs by October. GL to you! Keep up the good work everyone!

Thanks for the support all! So, how many of you are walking 10,000 steps a day. I managed to get a little over 1,800 in today. I work full time in a hospital and our OR's are set up like the infield of a race track. I decided today I would walk the "track" (for lack of better wording) for during my 15 minute morning break. I managed to get 1,433 steps completed in 15 minutes. This is the first time I have really tried to do some form of exercise and I was surprised at how good I felt afterward. Do any of you exercise suggestions?
![]() How do you gals with kids manage to eat according to the program and still keep up with your kids and what they want? That is quite an accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourselves! |

Welcome Angie! I'm sure you've got the program down to a 'T' I bet you'll do great on your own!
Kitty, i think that is a great goal- You'll be so proud of yourself when you make it! Plnolady - I don't have a podometer, so I'm not sure on the steps, but I made a point to go for a walk last night and since it was just me and the babe, i was counting outloud for her. i got to 1200- something and stopped counting. Needless to say that was maybe at the 1/2 mile mark. So by my reasoning, I am NO WHERE NEAR 10,000 steps. lol Last edited by cyclomethicone; 04-29-2009 at 02:44 PM.. |

When I am on protein days, DH is "on his own" and I tell him this in the morning. I usually buy him some single serve pizzas or really anything that comes in it's own wrapper and will be eaten completely. I don't do well with left overs. On the other days, we can usually eat about the same. I cook a meat and veggie for both of us and then buy some microwavable sides. I usually get mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and rice. I can just heat him up a serving and then he doesn't have to feel deprived. It seems to work out well. You could do the same for your kids, or if you aren't interested in premade store stuff, take a day to make some of your own sides and freeze them in little containers. Or, get the compartment tupperware and make "frozen meals" for them for your protein days. They are also probably getting enough carbs with school lunch, so if dinner is a little less, I don't know that it would be so bad. i hope that helps or inspired a better idea! |

Ha ha - my husband gets what he's given & if he ever complained - he'd get nothing! I just manage by doing my kids & hubby whatever I'd normally cook for myself, then I settle down to a yummy grilled chicken breast ;-) It really hasn't bothered me, having other food in the house - the kids had a party last weekend & I actually still have a bag full on mini candy bars - usually I'd have scoffed them all on the day!!
1 week in & I'm down 9.2lbs! I LOVE reading all your comments - I have had days like that with my 2 year old too - just take a deep breath & STEP AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN! Easier said than done I know! keep up the great work girls! Clare xoxo |

Hey everyone.
I want to join the challenge. My first protein day was Monday for the 10 week program. I'm doing the clinic visits here in Downey, CA. I have been blogging about my journey @ Fat Gamer's blog - Vox . I put lots of details about my journey in my blog for those interested in how Lindora works or how things are when you choose the clinic route. Monday I weighed in @ Lindora at 451 lbs. Tuesday i weighed in at 446 lbs. I will be heading to Lindora in 2-3 hrs from now to do my daily injection + weigh in, etc. I hope to be around 300 lbs by the end of Summer. I'm following Lindora to the fullest and got up to 38 minutes today on the treadmill, without stopping once. This is big for me. You have no idea Well maybe you do. Anyways. Nice to meet everyone. Good luck this summer everyone. I'll check this thread daily or so. Cheers, Sheldon aka Fat Gamer |

I got back From Lindora a while ago. I lost 6.3 lbs since yesterday's weigh in. I also dropped one BMI size from a 61 to a 60. This is just the 3rd day. I'm excited to see where things are at at a full 7 days.

Angie and Sheldon ![]() ![]() What great losses for both Sheldon and Clare this week!!!You guys/gals are doing amazing!!! It's so encouraging to read your progress. I'm on the fourth day of restarting the program at home and I feel much weaker this time round.I need to get into gear. The scale hasn't budged after these past three protein days.....urh... this body is stubborn! Plateau is ringing in my ears. The stick did turn a little...but not as much as I was expecting. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.Plnolady - I'm one of those crazy women who sometimes make two different meals...one for me, one for the rest of the family. I'll learn someday. ![]() I'm so proud of all you! You keep me going! |

Welcome Angie and Sheldon!
Sheldon, you go! Super proud of you...amazing weight loss. Thanx girls for all the support. Rereading my own posts made me giggle too! Today I took Ash to the zoo. Walked about 3 miles.... I don't log the pedometer because I usually do an hour of cardio a day. When I was, I was shooting for 12, 000. I would do anything to make that darn thing click...march, jumping jacks, walking around the house.....anything to get more steps. Now that I have a structured gym routine, I'm less anal about the pedometer. I am training to run the 5k. Lil, I can totally empathize with you. THis round is so much harder for me too. I can't get into ketosis..... But, I'm six pounds from my original goal of 135...but now I want 130. hehehehe I don't make different meals for my husband either. He's so sick of fish he could just die. So, I did get him a nice steak for dinner last night. He supports me so that's fine. For Ashley, it's harder. I do cook noodles for her....when I mindlessly pop one into my mouth...I quickly spit it out. Molly, I LOVE sushi. Usually I just have spicy tuna bowl NO rice. The pickled ginger has carbs but it's a fair trade to enjoy the sushi. I've had a dinner like that once that sent me up 4 pounds....that was last time. I have worked so hard this time I don't allow myself to go off the wagon like that. The most I allow is a small taste. BECAUSE, for me one leads to many more.....However, good job getting back on track. Funny thing: Today at the zoo, by the monkeys, Ashley asked, "Yellow Hat?" She was looking for the man with the yellow hat from Curious George! heheh Love you all! Laura ![]() |

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! You are doing so great Sheldon! Keep up the fantastic work! I go into Lindora tomorrow to weigh in, I am on maintenance, I am worried about the scale saying I am up a couple of pounds. I did Atkins about 12 years ago and lost alot of wight and when I went off of it, I gained it all back and then some. I am so paranoid that history will repeat itself. Although LFL is so different from Atkins, and it has taught me how to eat and control myself, I can't help but fret over that darn scale. Oh well, I guess we all do that.

Welcome Angie! Way to go Sheldon & Kitty you are doing great! Kudo's to you all!
I hit a plateau a week ago. I kept bouncing between 22 & 23 lbs lost. I weighed in yesterday at Lindora and I was down 4 lbs in 1 day. So in 5 weeks I have lost a total of 26 pounds. ![]() I am partially disabled and walking long distances can be painful, but I decided to start walking laps at work. I work in surgery and our OR is setup like a race track with all of the OR's in the center or the pit area. I decided on Tuesday to walk as many laps as I could in a 15 minute period. I am a little sore, but it's a good sore if you know what I mean. ![]() I have another 5 weeks left on my 10 week program. I am trying to decide if I should pay for another 10 weeks or see if I can do it on my own now that I know what I need to do (and not do). I like the one-on-one support of Lindora everyday, but it's pricey. ![]() Hope you all have a GREAT Friday! ![]() |

Thanks for the encouragement, Plnolady!
This morning I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, took a shower and went to go see Wolverine at 9:30 AM. I liked it even better than Iron Man! I brought a protein bar for a snack and purchased a small (20 ounce) diet coke. I have never ordered anything small at the movies. After the movie I stopped in at Lindora for my daily check up. I lost another 1.8 lbs since yesterday's weigh in. Which brings me to a total of 13.9 lbs lost since Monday. I just hope to stay on track during the weekend. I also lost another BMI size, I went from BMI 60 to BMI 59. Still a long way to go though! Hope everyone else is doing well also. |

Hope everyone has a successful weekend - I'm on day 9 now & am down 12 lbs - YAY! Off to eat my steamed salmon & lettuce - mmmmm delish =) Clare xoxo |

So, how are my new best friends doing tonight?
I have been on the program for 5 weeks now and I for those 5 weeks I have never cheated...until today. I had a single slice of pizza at work. We had a huge luncheon for our head of anesthesia's birthday. I was so upset with myself that I went 7 hours without eating anything. My husband (skinny dude) talked me into having some salad around 9:30 pm. I just totalled my carbs and even with the slice of pizza I am at 58 for the day. I still can't believe I screwed up and ate something off the plan. Next week is "Nurses Week" and we have another huge potluck/luncheon on Monday. My OR Director wants me to make my lemon blossom treats and participate with all of the festivities. Why should I spend several hours in my kitchen baking stuff I know I can't eat? Does that sound selfish or bad to you? I stopped by the market this morning and picked up some gourmet cookies for today's luncheon and I again I resented having to buy something that I know I can't eat. How do you guys handle situations like this? I don't want to be non-sociable at work, but why should I put myself in a situation where I know I am going to be tempted to mess up? ![]() I am sorry if I sound down, its just that this is the first time I have every really tried, or even wanted to try to lose weight. Heya plnolady,
All you have proven is that you are not a terminator from the future, but instead a human. You slipped, it happens. While I was in the clinic yesterday someone came in with pretty much your same scenario. She was embarrassed and upset that she gave in and had a slice of pizza at a work luncheon. The nurse at Lindora just told her to do a protein day and keep going. You lost a small battle, don't allow that small battle to cost you the war! In regards to being asked to bake certain goodies for work related functions, I would simply just tell my Boss about the program you are on. If anyone should understand, he should. After all, an employee’s good health can save the company money over time. I think you did the right thing by just picking up something pre-made and taking it in. Sure, you took the time to pick it up and buy it. However, you didn't spend a few hours preparing it only to be denied even trying it. The above is just my opinions; I am obviously not a health expert. I have my own personal challenge today. My wife runs a Girl Scout Troop and they had planned a pizza party at our house long before I started Lindora. So today is my true test. Let the battle begin! |

don't worry!
I know what you mean Pinolady, I have been in situations like that too. My family are all skinny and don't eat "diet" food, so I have to cook two meals a day, theirs and mine, most of the time I can get some of "their" food and modify it for myself. I also love to host dinner at my house, so I cook alot of food, that I can't eat, but I always make sure to make something that I know I can have, that includes some kind of dessert, just for me. I catch people looking at my food, and they make a comment like..."so you can eat that?" or, "well that doesn't look so bad"....and it isn't and the rewards are reflected every time you hit the scale. So don't give up...you are doing great! A few weeks ago I was in a pizza crisis, someone made homemade pizza and offered it to me, and I just felt I couldn't tell them, "I can't eat that", especially after they spent the time and effort to try to be a gracious host etc....so I picked off the cheese and toppings and tossed the dough/crust part, so it was a compromise and I spared their feelings and my weight gain!

Hello my LFL friends. We're here again this week and that is a blessing in itself! I'm so glad that you all are hanging in there and doing your best! You should be very proud of yourselves!
I'm starting today as a protein day and am determined to get back into ketosis. I didn't even want to weight in this morning! My son celebrated his first communion on Sunday and I super slipped the whole, entire day!!! I ate EVERYTHING forbidden on the program. I'm so mad at myself for losing total control. And then we have this site....If I didn't have all your experiences and support to read about, I might have given up already. But as Sheldon mentioned, we keep on fighting the batte and keep on going. Dianne, I totally understand how you feel. Please don't apologize about your feelings...that's why we're all here! To vent to each other because we are all the same in many ways! I need to learn to say "no" and not worry about offending my family and friends anymore. That is what got me restarting again in the first place. Laura, you go for that new goal! It will make you feel better for sure! Clare, what a great weight loss in 9 days! Sheldon, how'd the pizza party go? Angie, I do the same with my family. I've decided that I'm putting my husband on this program starting today!(we'll see how long it lasts )Enjoy the rest of your day everyone! Back to my reality now. ![]() Last edited by cdnhockeymom; 05-04-2009 at 12:01 PM.. |

I survived the weekend. I know I lost over the weekend, though most likely not more than a few lbs. For some reason I have it in my head that at my weight I should be losing super fast. I'll post later this evening after I have gone in for my Lindora daily visit.
