Newbie advice please!
Hi,
My name is Tammy. I am new to this forum but not to low carb. I sucessfully lost and regained 30lbs on Kimkins 2 years ago and due to side effects from the diet I will not do it again but am looking for a program that will work (I've tried them all and can honestly say Kimkins worked the best for me). This diet appears healthier and something I could stick to and see results. For those following it is the online program or using the book the better way to go? I want to start ASAP but do not have the book (will take a couple of weeks to get) and am nowhere near a clinic. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

You can go to most Rite Aid stores and purchase the book, ketone strips and Lindora products. You really do need the book to fully understand the program. I read it every night at bedtime to help me stay motivated. It's a great program. So far, I'm pleased with the results. It's balanced... I like that! Welcome!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I would love to buy the book but I am in Canada and we don't have rite-aid stores. Do you know if you sign up for the online program do you have access to the book online? I'm just not sure where to buy the book in canada and want to get started ASAP.

Hi when I first started my friend got me signed up with Lindora, (that was maybe 7 years ago or so.) I bought vitimins from her, the book, and bars. The bars were from a different company. Im also in Canada, but I bet Chapters will also sell the book.
Ive been in a local thrift shop and found an updated version (minor changes) of the book. It is so helpful. I photocopied some of it for easier reference. Hey all the best ![]() |

I haven't done LFL, but I think a combination of using the book and joining free online support forums is a great way to go. Good luck with it! ![]() |

Well I ordered the book and am planning on starting tomorrow with my 3 protein days. I will follow what others have posted and just ask questions as needed and hopefully be as sucessful as others have been with this program.
As for side effects from kimkins I was cold all the time, major hair loss, and not much energy. Knowing what I know now about Kimkins it is just not worth it to inflict furthur damage on my body by going back on it and that is when I came across the lean for life program. This program appears structured and more balanced than Kimkins by a long shot and I believe I can safely lose weight with this. I actually alternated Kimkins with Atkins. I lost when following Kimkins and was able to maintain with Atkins (maintained for 8 months). Then we spent 2 weeks in Disneyworld and it was a downward spiral from there and why I am once again needing to lose the weight. |

Yes, mom, I think when you sign up online the send you the book and you have access online. You can always start protein days. It's six servings of protein a day (lean...chicken, fish, turkey) and about 3 1/2 oz... it's a safe way to go!!! Good luck. We're here to help!
