Just found the LFL in a Nutshell sticky. Boy was I off!!

Someone here mentioned making a sausage product that would fit the LFL WOE. Does anybody have a recipe I can use? Is there a vegetarian sausage product on the market that we know to be good-tasting? I think a sausage patty in the morning will hold me much longer than my one egg. At least until I can't use my teeth anymore.

Hello everyone,
I am doing some cardio 45 minutes a day about 4-5 times a week.
How much exercise do you all do weekly?
I know alot of you have been on the LFL diet awhile and have been very successful.
I hope to follow the plan and be successful also.
please pass on some easy menus
this would be so helpful.

Janice,

I am near the Jackson area. I normally exercise about 5-6 times a week for about 20-45 minutes. I am getting ready to change my routine tho when I start a new round of weight loss.

Karen,
My DH cut off his right index finger at work, they did surgery and re-attached it, but not sure if its going to take yet, we will find out on Monday, so of course hes at home recovering now, and probably will be for awhile. This is the 2nd finger injury he has had that was serious, I told him he needs to find a new job, that place is scaring me. Next time it could be a hand or an arm, you never know. Anyway, I am back to work today, but of course they served us my favorite, Carrot cake, and I ate some. My first cheat in over 2 weeks, I hope I dont gain too much, I am sucking down the water now. But it was soo good and worth the few bites I had.

Hi gang..

Still at 136.X this morning..but I must confess that I have been having a bit of fat
here and there..so today is my cold turkey LFL WL LF day..LOL..BUT, my fat percentage on my Tanita has dropped a bit..and when I was eating too much fat, it
was "climbing"..so I'm seeing results..

Hope Claritta is okay..and hi to all the LFLers....

Found my book!

Boy was I off!! It's amazing what I managed to forget. I think I'm going to jump in with a WL day and go back to my usual protein day on Monday. Does anyone know if I can substitue V8 juice for a veggie serving? My teeth are really bothing me now and I'm trying to substitue juice for fruit, protein shakes for poulty, etc.

I recently read that people withType O blood are very sensitive to wheat, gluten, barley, corn and other whole grains. I think I'm going to use fruits instead of any grains for a while and see how it goes. Has anyone else tried to merge blood type food lists with this WOE? Did it work better than one or the other?

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear of your DH's injury! You're right, he needs another job! Hope he's feeling better real soon. Let us know the updates, OK?

Livvi, congrats on the loss! Keep up the good work.

Reva, thanks for the info on Claritta. We miss her.

Adi, I got the tapes and will be trying them tomorrow AM as I'm still sore from Pilates class last night. I swear, she's trying to kill us!

Gotta go, time is short today,

Karen - I will answer your question about the sausage product...I was the one that posted about the breakfast sausage. It is from a salt-free site so you could use a little salt instead of Mrs. Dash and you don't need all the ingredients - I have done it with a little fennel instead of marjoram and no chili powder. Its mainly meat and seasonings...and you could adjust the meat to 1lb instead...

2 tsp dried sage
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp Mrs. Dash
1/4 tsp dried marjoram
1 tbsp brown Sugar Twin
1/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
pinch chili powder (adjust to taste/heat desired)
pinch ground cloves
2 lbs ground chicken or turkey breast

Combine spices in a small bowl, mixing well. Place ground chicken or turkey in a large bowl and add the mixed spices to it. Mix well with your hands and form into patties or meatballs. Saute a large skillet over medium high heat for 5 minutes. Add some water and steam until done. Divide into individual servings and freeze until ready to use.

Also in the book and on the sticky here, it does mention veggie patties and/or crumbles that you could use for protein - you just have to be careful of the carb count etc...

I haven't posted here this week much cuz I am not really following any program...things are crazier for me as the week goes on and I am not adding the additional stress of eating right to it all! Its a poor excuse but...

Take care all,

Patty

PS - Hoping Claritta is OK ...was hoping she was just on vacation or something just as lovely with her BF...

Hi Everybody!
Today is my day off so I wanted to be sure to check in. I hit the gym this morning. Morning exercise....ahhhhhh. I am still not in the habit of evening exercise but that is something that I'm going to have to change. I really hate it, but I'll learn to endure.

I have a class reunion this summer so I hope that gives me and this stubborn body the incentive to kick some LFL butt.

Do you assess your progress in other ways than weight loss??? I do because my loss is so slow. TOday I noticed that I generally don't buy processed foods. Isn't that something? I stroll the aisles of the grocery store being a snob Today they had some very tasty looking South Beach meals that would fit into the LFL plan on sale...really good price. I reached for it and then decided I could cook something better from my own fridge. And I did!

Now then, what are these leenie muffins? Is there a recipe some place?

Finally dragging my butt in here to check in. Guess I'm in a bit of a funk---I weigh more now after 3 days of all protein + 1 of Weight Loss --go figure. Sure am hoping this will work like it did 2 years ago--definitely feel as if I am swimming against the tide.

Carol - I am swimming with you. I was very successful a couple of years ago and right now I am starting week 3 and am down 3 pounds. BUT that is better than being UP 3 pounds. I think I am at a set point and my body likes it here so I have to wait it out.

Hope Claritta is back soon.
Karen - I think you will like the tapes.

Hi to everyone else.

Carol, you're in good company. I feel like I'm swimming against the tide also. Yesteday was almost no food because of errands all day. I left the house at 7:30 AM with no prepared food ready to go so I bought a chef's salad for lunch but didn't get to eat it until 9:00 PM. By then I'd already eaten most of a bag of bagel chips that were in the car because I was so hungry. We will persevere!

Adi, thanks again. I'm excited but not terribly energetic this AM.

Patty, thanks for the recipe. I really appreciate it. I had already defrosted 2# of turkey yesterday so today I will be cooking!

My 13 yo DD is having tremendous teenager-girlfriend woes these last two weeks and I feel like I'm going through it all over again. Ahhh, the angst! the drama! She's so sad and tearful that it's breaking my heart. I'm mentally fatigued just talking to her. I spend a great deal of time trying to explain what "taking the high road" means. She tells me that 7th graders don't do that. Thankfully my son, who poses his own challenges, isn't going through this at this time. Meanwhile, we return to "As the Twins Turn..."

Carol, I'm in the same boat with you, I'm also a very slow loser. I have to confess It doesn't help me when I eat a handful of nuts like I did last night, Big OOPS! Now I'm up 1 lb. So I better get moving and do some extra cardio this morning.

Wow--does that bring back the good old teenage years....mostly with dd --the boys (except for the middle one), didn't give too much trouble (emotionally), at all.

Well, still stuck in 150's land--- 151.8 (was 152.6 yesterday)--not much of a difference. I exercise 'til I can wring out my clothes, so thats not the problem--who knows.

Off to get the day rolling.

I am still stuck at the same weight. I tried the fish and spinach thing before and for me the combo of fish spinach and grapefruit was sickening. Maybe that is why it works for weight loss. You either can't gag it down or you throw it up.

I am exploring other options at this time since I am on week 4 and have lost a whopping 2.2 pounds. I know this works very slow for me but I am down to almost nonexistent weight loss.

Carol and Adi,
I'm right there with you!! While I'm not always on plan 'to the letter', I'm very close and when I splurge it certainly isn't 3000 calories to gain a lb!!!
In the last three weeks I've lost 2, gained 2 and lost 2. That's my pattern all the time, up a little, down a little.

Just a question for those ladies struggling to lose anything right now...someone mentioned the plateau menu (yuck ) but what about exercise? I don't know how much you are exercising right now or at all, but I found that I had to bump up my minutes per session or the intensity to help jumpstart my weight loss whenever it started to drag or stand still. Have you thought about that? I'm not sure what else to suggest right now, but I'll think about it. I hate to see you having such a tough time...especially when sticking to the plan!
