Finally!
After two weeks of inconsistent LFL'ing, I'm down 1.5 pounds. I think it is the increased exercise which always works for me when I do it. Actually, there's some other stuff going on which may be impeding my weight loss:
At the same time that I restarted LFL two weeks ago, I also started the CLA/GLA challenge. CLA and GLA are essential acids that you take by supplement and are supposed to decrease the amt of fat your cells can absorb, particularly in the abdominal area. It works really well for Atkins folks so I thought I'd give it a try. But even the Atkins folks said it slowed their weight loss while increasing their inches lost. After two weeks of faithfully swallowing these horse pills daily, I need to re-evaluate whether or not I want to continue taking them at this time or discontinue them and focus on my weight loss. Truthfully, after you swallow those pills, you're really not hungry for a while! But I may take a pass on them for another two week period and see what happens with Mr. Scale. If you want more info on the CLA/GLA stuff, it's on the Main Board under Challenges (it's 110 pages long, get a large bottle of water before sitting down!) I'm getting sick of eggs, custard and chicken so Kelly, I'm waiting for your review of other recipes. It seems the turkey chili got Kelly's 4 stars so I will try that. BTW, your 11 pd loss is fantastic! You go, girl! We're so proud of you. 100andcounting, your post was very timely and inspiring. That 4 day/3 day routine is salt-of-the-earth kind of advice. Thanks. Faults, we're just slow losers. I know mine has to do with age and exercise (or lack thereof). Now I need to DO something about it. Remember, steady and slow wins the race. Livvi, a pound is a pound is a pound.... One pound down in the morning makes my day. Enjoy your success! Bre, so happy to see you're sleeping and enjoying the exercise again. Feel like yourself?? You even sound better on the computer! MOMO and Carol. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Karla, hope you're feeling better soon. I managed to avoid the death virus so far this year. I credit that to multiple drugs and a flu shot. So far so good. Sending "get well" vibes your way! Claritta, where are you?? We miss you. Come out and play! Patty, I think I remember you from the last time you checked in. Welcome back! I tried the extra moist chicken recipe with Diet Sprite and it was great. I cooked mine in a crockpot all day on low. I especially liked it on top of salad greens w/ balsamic vinegar for dressing. I never thought about cooking chicken in Diet Coke? Has anyone tried it? Adi, still waiting for that package. Exercise is my bugaboo also at this time. I actually dusted off the treadmill last week and pulled out my balance ball. Can't wait for the snow and ice to be done with. I've got a couple of personal challenges coming up and I need some input. I found out on Friday that I must have a tooth extracted ASAP after I clear up the infection and that the replacement implant can't go in for 3-4 months. I will not be able to chew on the left side of my mouth. I have some issues with the back teeth on the right side of my mouth and may be getting replacement crowns at the same time as the extraction/implant. I may be on soft foods for weeks at a time. Other than that wonderful custard and scrambled eggs, suggestions??? Salads are difficult on just front teeth!

Karen: If you have a blender, then you can easily puree your cooked veggies as well
as your meat (with a little broth). It might be a bit mushy, but it is certainly better than eating eggs, custards, etc..all the time. Soup is always a great way to get your veggies in also...and spinach can be cooked (for your greens)..Good luck with your teeth...we all sympathize with you. Hi Karla...cold today, huh? |

Karen...How about making some protein smoothies.
Here is how I make mine skim milk, frozen strawberries, (any berries would be fine) low carb yogurt( I normally use the same flavored yogurt as berries), and sweetner. (Ice if you need it) Throw in the blender and BAM...You have a smoothie. I am interested in adding some whey protein to up the protein counts but I haven't tried that yet. |

Thanks gang. I'm not so worried about getting in the veggies as I know I can cook them to death with a broth base (crockpot to the rescue!) if need be. I'm more worried about keeping up my protein for energy. Bre, what brands of yogurt are considered low carb? I've bought FF plain yogurt before and added SF syrups to them. Is that OK? The notion of drinking yogurt makes me not so hungry
but maybe if I'm starving I'll get over that?? |

Karen,
I had made the low carb smoothies before too and I used Blue Bunny yogurt, its made with Splenda, I dont know what stores you have around, but i found it at Albertsons. I tried a new item last night, its the cream of "potatoe" soup, using cauliflower instead of potatoes, and it was pretty darn good, I put my own twist on it and added some Turkey bacon to it as well. Thats what I had for dinner last night, and it was darn good. I made a ton though, will have to freeze some for later! I also made the mock peach cobbler, that was good stuff, and tonight I am making the mock potatoe salad, I will sample it tomorrow. Good luck! Kelly |

Karen, funny you should mention the extra moist chicken, I have it in my oven right now!!! I used diet 7up, that was the recipe that I saw. Glad to hear a good review about it!!
Carolyn, this is sure good pnemonia weather with the warm days, cold days, back and forth!! Probably part of the reason this sinus infection is holding on. When the weather changes, they go crazy, and the weather has been changing daily!!! Sounds like everyone is doing great, Carol, congrats on a loss already!!!! This must be 'your program'!!! Karla |

HI~~~
Well, I haven't exercised much aside from walking. Last night i went to therapy and they had me doing exercises for at least 20 minutes on those big inflatable ball that they use for pilates. Here i am over 200 lbs rolling around on a ball in front of everyone. I did it and sweated something fierce. Right after that my right shoulder was hurting really bad. My dh massaged it for awhile and when i woke up i was alright i'll be sure exercise tonight. The good thing was that i was a 1/2 lb lighter this morning |

Recently I've been having problems controling my "portion" I am eating too much yoghurt....or eating a whole protein bar instead of the 1/2. Does anyone ever have this problem?? I know this program is supposed to help change your way of eating..including portion/sizes...sigh.. somedays I just can't do it

MOMO-- for some of us, those protein bars can really stall us and in many cases can 'revive' those sweet cravings. I remember 2 years ago when I was on LFL, I did much better after eliminating the bars. Of course we're all different, so what works for one, may not work for another
What kind of yogurt do you use? Just wondering--again, if you are using the lowcarb, splenda sweetened kind, perhaps that might be stimulating hunger? Again many of those pre-sweetened yogurts have modified food starch, gelatin, etc.... I always use the plain, nofat or lowfat yogurt (only Dannon, Stoneyfield or Brown Cow)--reason is that the pre-sweetened yogurts have way too many additives (in my opinion)---never know what they might do If you need to sweeten your plain yogurt, you can use 'Davinci's' sugarfree (splenda sweetened), syrup (I only use about 1 Tbs)-- HTH! Good morning! I am down another pound today, thank you Weight Loss Fairy! That's all of 2 pounds in 2/5 weeks but I'll take what I can get.
Today is my twins' 13th birthday. Thirteen years ago today I weighed 16 pounds LESS fully pregnant. How sad is that? I just want to see my jaw line again! On the bright side, I have two kids who are both taller than I am, have wonderful senses of humor, are bright and talented in very different ways, and think I'm awesome (that's because they just got their birthday gifts!). OK, enough bragging. I'm done. Sorry for the tangent. I took a frozen brick of something out of the freezer for dinner and I have no idea what it is. It's either frozen cabbage soup or frozen meat sauce. Really wish I had labeled it...starting to scare me a little.... Do I make pasta for the kids or not??? OK, for last night's dinner I made this salad and it was great: left over Extra Moist Chicken from crockpot, clementine pieces, raw cashews, salad greens, scallions, and LC/FF dijon dressing. It was sweet, salty , crunchy and light w/ a zing. Even the kids liked it. Kelly, I'm planning on making the turkey chili Friday in the crockpot. Any other great reviews? We had one kids' party on Monday, we have a family party at my house on Sat, and the other kids' party on Sunday. All feature pizza and cake although I buy the pizza that I don't like and cake is not a huge lure for me. So far I've been pretty good. Time to refill the water bottle. BBL, |

Hello to everyone,
Well I am down another pd today, thats 12 total now, moving right along. Last night i had a huge scare though, my husband ended up in the ER from a bad work injury, so I was at the hospital most of the night, and had no food to eat there, maybe thats why I lost lol. Who knows, we are back home now after surgery and I had to take today off work to help him, but it looks like he will be ok. Karen, Some other things i have tried that I really enjoy are the Oriental stir fry recipe. I made some today using chicken, the receipe says beef, but I like it either way, I omit the pinnapple and eat it on the side, because I dont like my pinnapple cooked lol. You should try it, good stuff. Other than that, with everything going on, I havent cooked alot in the last couple days. Kelly |

Good Morning All!!!
Congrats Carolyn, JGW, and Karen!! I'm still the same weight (luckily considering I ate way too much yesterday afternoon!!) Carol, thanks for your advice..I usually eat Gippsland Organic Skim yoghurt...I can't seem to find those brands you use in the US here. Anyways...I know I should take the protein bars out of the diet, but I'm just so sick of tuna, chicken, eggs... I have tried the baked custard, it's great!! |

Hi all, just checking in. Haven't weighed in since Monday, seems like something always happens when I get up and then I forget about the scale til after I've drank water or eaten breakfast. Just as well, it makes me crazy if the number isn't what I think it should be!!
I had a great food day yesterday and pretty good today. I caved for some cheese its this afternoon, but that's the only thing 'off'. Congrats to the losers!!!!! Keep it up!! or is that down?? Later. Karla ![]() |

After losing next to nothing since last week, I had a two pound woosh that puts me at 20.5 pounds since restarting.
My kindergardener got her report card yesterday. She made the honor roll which really stunned us. She is always getting reports like 'not following directions' or 'refused to complete assignments'. Its crazy what they expect them to do. When I was in kindergarden we ate paste and colored. :P I'm off to work. Have a great day, everyone. |

Good Morning everyone,
I am down .2 this morning, its not much, but hey its better than nothing. I ate too much yesterday because i was home all day and bored. I was taking care of my husband, but there wasnt alot to do. I havent exercised in a few days and today I really need to do that. I want to try out my workout video with my big ball, so I think I will do that this afternoon. I need to get all my water down as well, I didnt do so well on that. Kelly |

WOW! WOW! WOW!
I can't believe how many folks are on this board now! It is great to be here and see so much going on. I'm on my first protein day today. Didn't weigh myself when I first got up (the bathroom scale is in the garage...don't ask!) But I'm not really caught up in what the scale says. I'm the proudest of my work when my closthes start "bagging" a bit and I can see the "tummy roll" less! I have a hard time keeping everyone's names and stories straight, but I'll do my best. Just know that I'm cheering for you all and appreciate the kind words and encouragement. I'm off to the gym today. Hopefully my knee won't give me problems and I can increase my time on the eliptical. I'm trying to get back to 20-30 min following my 30 min weights/aerobic work out. Also, the trainer has shown me a few things to do on the exercise ball for abs and bum, so I'm working on getting them right. Have a great day! I'll be back tomorrow! Kirsten |
