Ta-Da Tuesday!

OK - I drank two glasses of water before I let myself get to the coffee. So two are down. I missed yesterday's goal of 8 by half. Once I got home from work it was all downhill. No dinner, too much to do, too little time, too late to bed -- you know the drill. I will do better today. I'm off to a better start anyway!

Since I didn't fare well on my protein day yesterday, I'm doing it again today. Will I ever get to ketosis?? It's starting to seem like the promised land.

I know what you mean, yesterday I had trail mix for dinner ... definitely not on plan but I was just too tired to be very creative and I have to cook two meals every night ... my DBF and his daughter don't eat the same way I do. They want french fries, rice, etc.

Don't have a problem with the water because I do a few miles on the treadmill first thing in the morning before work and get in 24 ounces then, drink water all day at work and another 48 ounces when I go to the gym at night. It really helps and you should find a way to drink more. I had to stop drinking coffee pretty much all together because I only like it light and sweet!!

You'll get there, just keep trying ... every day is a new day

Have a happy day to all who follow ...

Goooood morning ladies!

Here is a suggestion that helped me regarding the water and keeping to the plan. I had an awful time drinking all this water. I found the best way for me is to drink 3/4s of it by noon and the remaining 1/4 by the end of dinner. I try to meet my plan's objectives as early as possible before I get fatigued. Once fatigued by late afternoon, I can't cook, so I keep my dinner and evening snacks simple and ready to use. Often dinner is just heated up leftovers...nuked. I try to make sure I get enough protein with b, l, and snacks in before dinner because the protein helps keep you from being hungry in the evening. Remember, you can have up to 12 protein meals a day.......3 meals and 9 snacks. Just remember to not have another meal/snack any sooner than one hour from the last one. You should not go more than 3 hrs between eating during the day. If you do go beyond that, you will be starving by the evening.

Okay, for today, I thought I would share with you the best lc food I have found. Flaxseed meal.......full of fiber, in fact it has zero carbs because of the fiber and has some protein too. It has some fat, but these are the essential fatty acids that help your body, such as your colon. I put a tablespoon into my yogurt that I eat twice a day....and into my shakes. But I have a couple muffin recipes to share with you. One is lc, lf which I make for my fiber supplement. While it is not a tasty as the second one, its makes a pretty good fiber snack. I eat it with some protein. I got both these recipes from the board. You can find flaxseed meal in a healthfood store in their refrigerator. It must be kept refrigerated.

Flaxseed Cinnamon Muffins

3 eggs
1/2 C sugar free syrup like Da Vinci's, I used vanilla flavored
1 T vanilla extract
1 C flaxseed meal
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
2 T (yes, tablespoons) cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
1/2 t ground cloves

1. In medium bowl, beat eggs. Beat in syrup and vanilla.
2. In bowl, combine and mix remaining dry ingredients. Then stir this into egg mixture.
3. Let stand for 5 minutes.
4. Spoon into muffin pan, lined with foil liners (throw the paper part out)
5. Bake at 350ยบ for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly browned and seem set to the touch.
6. Remove from pan at once to cooling rack. Store in refrigerator.

Okay, I've decided not to post the other recipe because of its high fat content. These are really good but could interfere with your weight loss. That's why I quit making them. I will make them once I get to maintenance. Also, they are so good that its hard to just eat one. You have to know your self control is good if you make them. If anyone wants the recipe, just email me.

I have used flaxseed meal as a coating for chicken to make a mock fried chicken. I make a seasoned egg wash. I add garlic powder, salt and pepper to the flaxseed meal. You could try other seasoning as well, like thyme or poultry seasoning. I dip the chicken (skin removed) into the egg wash and then dredge it into the flaxseed meal mix. Spray fry pan with olive oil and fry. You might have to add a little olive oil to the pan too. The flaxseed meal does not soak up the olive oil as much as a flour dredge does. Even hubby thinks this is delicious.

Morning!! I love the title for today, that's how I felt when I got back from the gym this morning!! It snowed some overnite, but not enough to make roads bad.
I also drank lots of water already this morning, a big glass before the gym, a bottle of water at the gym and more for breakfast. I'm like you Verleen, I like to get those things I don't care to do done early in the day!! The 'rebel monster' or 'just to tired to care monster' get to me in the evenings!!
That recipe looks good, is there anything to substitute for the sugar free syrup? Like just splenda or something?
Make it a great day everyone!!

Good Morning, all,

Wow, Verleen--you have so many suggestions and good ideas! I'll get some flaxseed meal tomorrow.

Lost another pound so I'm 8.5 away from my end of year challenge--woo hoo! One more protein day today and then back to the WL menu.

Nikkiloo--I empathize with your situation! My DH and DS actually need the carbs that I am constantly removing for me. I've pretty much quit making anything that is like a casserole with rice or pasta mixed in. I just cook things separately now, so that I can skip the rice or whatever. When I was working outside my home, I cooked 3-4 main dishes on the weekend and then we nuked them all week long--I was way too tired and hungry to start out with raw food at 6 pm every evening! Good luck.

I swear by DaVinci's SF syrups--I have a really bad ice cream craving, so I use the syrups in milk, in NF yogurt, to make baked custards, on top of cottage cheese and in my coffee. The chocolate one in plain coffee with a splash of milk is great--makes a mocha! I find I really like 1/4 C each of cottage cheese and NF yogurt with vanilla or French vanilla syrup--for some reason that is good.

I, too, like to get all the exercise finished early in the day. But sometimes that just can't happen and I have a hard time motivating myself to do it later--especially in the evening. Anyone else have this tendency? What do you do to overcome that "Eh, I'll skip it, I'm tired" thought in the brain??

Hang in there, Karen--I'm with you on the protein. We can do this.

Bye,

Marnie

Hey Girls!

Good Morning. I really appreciate the advice on drinking water as that is one of the things I am working on. I did fine yesterday but most days I haven't, and I think that the advice to start drinking water early in the day whill help me immensely. I'll start with that as soon as I end this posting.

Karen, I don't know if you are losing weight even though you don't show that you are in ketosis. If you are sticking to the program most of the time, you are probably having success at losing weight. I remember seeing posts in the past that some people don't see the ketone strip turn in color but they are still losing weight.

I tried using the strips at first and mine never did turn much of a color. I haven't used the strips for weeks now and don't plan to use them as long as I am consistently losing--and I AM. I've lost something every week that I have been on the program except for when I was on MA.

I believe in LFL. It works wonders!!

Checking in.............
Did my gym time. I thought it would be rough after a week plus off, but it went well. Got to sweat off some water weight (could feel it in my ankles) and got a better attitude.

Had eggs for breakfast and working on drinking some lemon water. Have to do some business travel so I bought some packaged tuna (garlic and herb) to take along. Hmmm, better pack some breath mints too

OT, I have been getting so weepy and even experiencing some anxiety (about nothing!) from time to time. I could swear I'm menopausal, but that would be wishful thinking..........

Woo hoo!! We are all so motivated. I've lost 31 lbs and I never registered on the keto strips. I have been told on other boards that this is common. I don't buy them any more. I just stick to the program and let the scale judge if I am in ketosis.

As for substituting the syrup in the recipe, you might try sugar free maple syrup. Go ahead and experiment with the Splenda. Keep in mind that bulk Splenda is very sweet. Don't believe the label that says you measure equally as for sugar. I cut it in half or less. You would have to add moisture though......water, yogurt? Experiment and share the results with us. Or experiment with pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice and eat one as a veggie. These muffins are on the dry side because they are low fat. But I like this, because one is all I can eat at one time....my mouth gets too dried out. I like them though. If anyone is on maintenance and wants to try the really yummy ones, just let me know.

I agree with Marnie. Da Vinci's has the best zero calorie flavored syrups. You get a big bottle. I have the vanilla, and coconut is my favorite. I add it to those chocolate shakes that I make. Chocolate and coconut are very compatible tastes.

Good morning ladies,

Just back from therapy for cupital tunnel. Sure hoping the therapy works and no need for surgery.

I have not been 100 percent since we have got back from Oregon and Thanksgiving was hard. I started again yesterday with 3 protein days and will move forward. If the scale is not lying I lost three pounds yesterday. I know that is probably water weight but weight just the same.

You all have a great day,

Linda

K, there are no sugar alcohols in Da Vinci syrups....they use Splenda.

Welcome back Linda and congratulations on the loss!! Why don't you join our Holiday challenge?

Just starting the afternoon and another bottle of water. I have had 64oz already, cheese, and tuna. I certainly am in the restroom often! LOL

Today is pretty good, however we were told again that we would not be paid again this pay period. This makes 6 weeks since a pay check from the college. Be listening to the news, we have news teams all over the campus and I am sure we will go National again. Struggles like these do seem to draw all the employees a bit closer which is nice. We are all tightening up our belts a little.

Later gals.....

Kimmy, I don't know how you keep so upbeat with this situation. You are handling it well.
