so can I bring an AWWWWW moment to the thread before it stinks up with talk of Heidi?

When I went for me walk today I saw an older gentleman 80ish walking on the road that i take. Keep in mind I see this guy or i should say saw quite a bit while i was walking the beach. I soon realized that walking on the beach fast was hurting more than helping and stopped.. Well today I saw him on the road. We always speak or nod in a friendly way.. but never another word more. Today I said Hi.. he said Hi back paused a second and says.. WOW you are looking good.

I wanted to go hug him.. I said thank you and kept my pace with a smile all the way.. even though I beat my best time ever. I did it with a smile.

5 miles.. 1 hour 16 min 25 seconds. not subtracting for stopping to help a hurt bird or making sure my HRM was on right. Not olympic records but I will take it.

Carry on

When my DD was in 8th grade her best friend was told by a councelor she was 'really fat' and even 'obese'
This sweet girl was working with her mom on a sane way to lose weight, with a nutritionist and balanced meals.
Soon after the comments *Vera* (not her real name) started cutting foods.
First it was breakfast, then she would only eat the meat on her sandwich. Then she cut school lunch out.
At some time she had to stay home because she fainted on occassion.
Now all the while she swore her friends to secrecy to not tell mom who thought the healthy foods she served at night were making her DD lose weight.
At first (in my guestemate) she was only losing 4 pounds a week but once she started cutting lunch the weight loss became dramatic.

Her face became drawn and even though she still carried a firm amount of weight you could see she was starving herself.

My DD was in tears by week 6 (she kept count) and begged me to talk to Vera's mom.
By now Vera was eating an egg for breakfast, throwing the lunch her mom made away and drank water for lunch.
She was eating at home but claiming tummy aches when asked why she didn't eat much.
Teenage girls are so fragile so my friend approached it gently and was so worried.
Vera was so used to eating 500 calories (if that) by 8 weeks and it took a long time to get her to eat again.
My guess is she lost somewhere around 40-50 pounds in a very short time.

School ended and after summer I saw Vera back at school. Not only has she gained back what she lost, her mom tells me (in tears) that Vera weighs 20 pounds more above where she started starving herself.

She is only 15, and it breaks my heart.

People like Heidi prey on young girls and desperate people.

STOP the insanity of starvation diets.

(done)
It breaks my heart, too.

It can happen to boys and girls, men and women, of all ages.

Carly I think I told Amyb that when she came here. Heidi not only messed with us physically but mentally.
It takes a while to get that though your head that you got messed with.

I see you Carly You aren't invisible. You're doing good. I see that you are making new friends in your banned wagon thread...friends who will give you great support and advice. Just keep moving forward even when those you originally started the journey with seem to want to move backward. You're going to be just fine. You have a good head on you and you carry yourself well.

I can't, really.

Right now I have a 14 year old who needs to lose 10-20 pounds and I need to find a way to cook foods she likes without making her follow her friends footsteps.
She had a DR's visit where the DR told her she *knew* I cook the right foods yet DD is only gaining.
She told DD she needs to be accountable and honest about the foods she eats when she is not home or home alone.

I measure the meat, cut back on milk and other dairy. We don't eat junk food, I cook whole grains. There's portion control.

She has one test for Cortisol levels next week and if that pans out I'm going to sit down with the nutritionist at the hospital to figure out what to do.

I'm at a loss and so worried she'd starve herself. So in a bigger way I'm vested in stopping starvation diets.

yes please let's do! I think there is something very serious with not eating enough fat too. I don't know if its just the lack of essential fatty acids or fat in general that effect peoples moods/personality.
I know for a fact that I do best with higher fat. lol fat and happy is what I like to call it!

Carly, I wanted to reply in the previous thread and the quote and reply buttons were gone! It's happened to me before.

Carly, please talk your friend out of going back. What was the whole point of all of this week's drama? Carpet bombing and everything. These complete 180 degree turns are what is stunning everyone. Nothing seems to remain true for more than 24 hours. The truth shifts continuously. One minute talking to John Tiedt, the next returning to KK (after a carpet bombing). Talking about being dead, getting people shook up, than casually rejoining the conversation the next day with no mention of it.

I admire you Carly. Your path was a pretty straight line. And what you did yesterday was heroic. You continue to do all the right things. Not only with adding things back in your diet. You know the plan is no good, that Heidi is a liar and the truth flows through all your actions. You make sense as an individual. That is why so many people want to help you.

Just wanted to say that.
