That should probably be on my Next to Read List after I finish Dr. Bernstein.

I need to get my HDL up. It's too low and my ratio is bad: 5.5. If I can get my HDL up or find out about the apolipoprotein sizes I have, (and maybe a homocysteine test too?) I may relax a bit more about those numbers.

I don't stress out too much over this stuff, but then again I would like them to be more favorable than they are now.

Good post AmyB, and I'm glad you forwarded what you had to John. Sounds like it was a goldmine.

You look ger-juss, by the way.

Happy Birthday Amy!!!! I'd make you a cake, but I don't think it would last the trip You look beautiful.

Wacky - LOVELY cake!!! Thanks everyone for the complements... I'm sure Wacky would agree with me that the only way to get past the temptation that a little crisco, butter and powdered sugar can bring is to look past it and focus on the art. I know I hate that random squiggle too!

Isn't it amazing how good fat, flour and sugar taste all mixed together? It seems so innocuous. Birthday cake (or similar iced cakes) and cake doughnuts are the things I miss the most, and I rarely ate them before this WOE. Now they scare me like they were toxic waste.

Fun to look at though!
Hmmm, for quite a number of years now (maybe decades!) I have preferred the icing to the cake. Icing was the first actual sugar I ever ate, according to family historians, and I love it still. Not so much a fan of the soft "butter cream" type icing that makes pretty flowers, more the wedding cake marzipan stuff that dries hard as candy. But you're right - some works of edible art are too pretty to eat.

(It didn't come as a huge surprise when I found out that I was allergic to wheat. I could cheerfully eat the sugar and fat w/o the flour! Maybe that's how I got so big, ya think? )

I like to think of high cholesterol as anti aging

It's funny you said that. When I look at that stuff anymore, I see a skull and crossbones.

It's on my list -- I already have it in the house. Still in the middle of Barry Groves' book, though.

Good Morning Ducks! Happy Monday! Amy...you did great with your blog post and you really do look so pretty in your new avatar...and in the photos on your blog.

Christin and Wacky....those cakes are absolutely beautiful!

We had a great weekend, wonderful picnic...except Vern stepped on a nail...but other than that it was a great day.

Yes, I have read that. You would think with my high saturated fat consumption that my HDL would be stellar. I seem to break all the rules when it comes to what I eat and resulting labs or weight loss.
