Well...from what I understand, it's perfectly normal to talk to yourself, answer yourself, even argue with yourself...it's when I interupt myself that I start to worry...

Happy Friday everyone!

I am not sure Carly likes all this third person stuff. Mainly cause I thought the voices only talked to me... but now it is sounding like they talk to everyone on here. I thought the voices were MINE.. Carly wants her voices back.

Oh.. and Dee.. I know how to make a CD. Want me to?

I'll be thinking of you today, Lora. I pray that you get the support you need to work through it all.

But the question is can we re-establish our hormonal balance?

These things help:
Never eat after dinner not even a snack, wine or juice. finnish eating dinner at least three hours before bed. This helps allow leptin, melatonin, cortisol and others to recycle. Nutrition, 2001;17(6):483-4

Eat three meals a day allowing 5-6 hours between meals. Insulin levels need to drop, glucagon to rise and fat metabolism can begin.

Do not eat large meals and eat slowly. This allows time for hormonal signals to reach the brain. Smaller meals allow for better digetion and don't stretch the stomach, they tend to be fewer in calories as well...but not always.

Eat breakfast containing protein, if you compromise your morning protein intake you can upset the daytime hormonal levels.
Am J Clin Nutr, 2005;82(1):41-8.

Reduce the overall amount of carbs to decrease overall inflammatory effect.

This is what my reading is telling me so far.....will keep looking.

Seriously, you girls need to save your journals and anything else that is important to you from the Kimkins site. Better "safe" then sorry. I can't tell you, how many people were heartbroken over that, when they ended up being banned. Also, please heed the words of others, and don't say anything in a PM (private message) at Kimkins that could and would be used against you. There is nothing "Private" about the PM's.

Carly. Hope we get a chance to know you better.

Dee, how cool that your friend is offering to save your journal for you!

Does anyone else find themselves sticking close to the computer this morning, waiting for CrispyBread to stop in before heading off to Curves or to pick up the kids?

Thyroid, absolutely.......
Starvation dieting can decrease RMR by as much as 40% and food restriction at a level to maintain just a 10% reduction in body weight results in significantly decreased intracellular thyroid hormone levels and a diminished metabolic rate that does not return to normal, EVEN after a normal diet is resumed.
Additonally Leptin resistance is a culprit as well. Low intracellular leptin levels are inversely correlated with reverse T3 (rT3) which is possibly the best marker, along with T3/rT3 ratio for a diminished T4 to T3 conversion and cellular hypothyroidism. This happens a lot in chronic illness.

Reverse T3 (rT3) was thought to be an inactive metabolite, but has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of T3. This directly decreases cellular energy production. And it directly inhibits T4 to T3, more so than PTU, a med used to decrease thyroid levels in hyperthyroidism.
Here's something else....increased adipose tissue results in a maladaptive stimulation of inflammatory cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-6, and CRP. These will further suppress T4 to T3 conversion, and increase conversion of T3 into rT3.

Sorry I wasn't as clear as I could have been earlier.
Lauren
Well, I guess that means I'm to blame for my severe Hashimoto's. I've starved weight off of myself since I was 15. I don't convert T4 to T3, so I have to take a medication comprised of T3 and T4, with more T4 on top of that because I don't get enough from the combo med. And the beat goes on!

I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking in the third person. A man by the name of Garth Brooks does it all the time! Whenever he does an interview he says things like "Garth wants to give his fans what they came for", "If you know anything about a Garth show, you know it can get pretty rowdy", etc. So I say if Garth does it, it must be A-OK!

Just for those of you that are unaware, I have a mild obsession with Mr. Brooks and his lovely wife Miss Trisha Yearwood!

Lauren, I've just been barely eavesdropping on your guys' conversation here, but this caught my eye.

I've been hearing for years now to eat 4-6 small meals a day, spaced every 2-3 hours. Has that thinking changed, or are you talking about under a particular set of circumstances?

I just wanted to add. Make sure that you also have emails for people important to you. Again, just to be on the safe side, so you can stay connected to your friends, who are important to you.

Hello My Name is Carly I am on KK and Dee is my friend I stood in the shadows and watched for fall out. Guess I am not as good a friend as I thought I was.

Dee I apologize.

Today I am here watching, reading, listening, learning. I won't leave KK just because I am here. I have friends there as well people who I enjoy coffee with every morning and enjoy sharing small successes with.

I could stand here and wave a little white flag to show you I mean no harm but that also is a sign of surrender and I am just not ready to throw in any towels.

So here i am.. Carly.. just plain old Carly.

Oh and for good measure.. SMOOCH.. DRAT it is raining today...
HI, Carly! Nice to "meet" you! And don't apologize for lurking. I left KK as an admin last September and I lurked here until just last month.

Carly.....I'd be very grateful if you could copy it to CD for me. SMOOCHES & Thank you.

As far as Garth Brooks....does he really make a good arguement regarding the talking in 3rd person. Didn't he come out under a different name or something like that at one point. At a point when he made it big. (Am I making this up or did it really happen).

I agree, just to be on the safe side, save your journals, Dee & Carly, if they're important to you. I know it sounds crazy but too many people have been banned for doing exactly what you two are doing. Simply for coming here and posting in these threads. Heidi Diaz might be more careful now with the ban button but I would sure err on the side of caution if I were you.

ETA: Oh, another thing I did when I knew I was probably going to get banned was to exchange e-mail addresses with those I wanted to be able to stay in contact with. I was really glad I had done that when the time came.

I do have a quick question...if someone like AmyB talks in third person..does that explain the nice Amy and the Fake nice person syndrome? It is hard to know which Amy B is going to show up.

You got me there. One of my friends just got married and lives in the same town as Mr. Brooks. I plan on visiting them next month. Talk about crazy. But it's just to see my friend, I promise.

You are right! But he does it even when he is just Garth. He did explain it one time because people made fun of him for it. He said when he refers to "Garth" he is talking about the "entertainer", not the "man".
