The entire time she was an obese woman sitting behind a computer and the "experiment" was on everyone else.

You sound like me. I had ignored or really didn't pay alot of attention to her. I was polite and just did my own thing...but I DO remember all of this.

Frankly, I really didn't have much to do with her. I thought, "To each his own". People had told me about her website and My thoughts were "Good for her". I had no real clue about her diet.

When the WW article came out, I bought it. I thought it would be neat to read about someone we knew on here and how they "Made good".

THAT's what opened my eyes. OMG, That's not a picture of Kimmer and that's not even her real name (She didn't use Heidi Diaz, she used Kim Drake).
If she is lying about THOSE things, what else is she lying about??!!?

Perhaps Heidi would do well to read this story. Especially the part I outlined in yellow! More and more, internet fraud is getting the attention of the law enforcement community. Perhaps Bonnie Luper of the Magic Chicken Diet should pay attention as well!

Family members of hers have stated that the woman in white is definitely not her. The photo with the blue sweater is her. She was wearing the same sweater and hairdo at classmates.com under the name of Heidi Miller Diaz. No other pictures of her have been confirmed by her family. Actually, the family seems to indicate that she has been obese for years and years.

Dee -I am a call it as I see it person too. And your about-face in such a short period of time seems too dramatic for me to sing Kumbaya or get a warm, fuzzy feeling...... Well, give me a few more days of not shaving my legs and I may get the warm fuzzy feeling....but I digress.

I just don't get how you can so vehemently defend Kimkins, Heidi, and then say you weren't aware of some of the points being made here- as early as June 2007.
How can you defend something when you have not weighed what the two sides are saying?
Plus you had said in your second or third post here- "But most of what I have experienced outside the KK site is people wanting to sling mud and sabatoge. I didn't come out here until someone tried to hi-jack my home site." Link So it all can't me news to you

I know you have mentioned how Cleo's blog of recipes got your attention over the last few days.
I love her oopsie rolls too. But if they can cause such a change in someone, then Cleo may need to get with the FDA to get them approved for marketing.... Because politicians, bored housewives, husband's of pms'ing or menopausal wives worldwide would buy them at any price dontcha know.

I imagine my response may make some roll their eyes, raise a drama flag or cringe because they don't want discourse,(and I am not referring to the mods) but whatevah..... different views are a part of life...Let's just say I am sitting on the skeptical bench.

Ohyeahbabe---vintage naive Dee...I really thought you wanted me to read 16 threads, but I can appreciate that I won't get the real "gist" of it with the RD version.

Dee, I can only commiserate with you, because I think I came here at like thread # or 4 - I could be mistaken. But it took so LONG to catch up. We really do not expect you to do that now that it is up to #17. Unless you are a brave warrior! LOL! I have to admit, when I first started reading, I was like, Whoa!, what is going on here? But I made it my duty to go through all the threads, wiping my brow, practically ignoring my job, confused, etc. It did not take that long for me to see what was going on, though. I admit, though, I had to devote a lot of hours to it.

P.S. I never joined KK or did her diet. Since I have been well acquinted with low carb for a long time - over 30 years, it frankly sounded bananas to me. When you cut carbs you HAVE to raise fat.

We'll try to supply whatever we can quickly. Isn't Cleo DIVIINE? I've made her stuff, and let me tell you, there is no way you could feel deprived eating her recipes. My mouth is watering even now. I'm glad you are getting into her stuff. Frankly, I have not been able to do much more than the oopsies, because of work. But I am going to put it a priority on my list to try her other stuff. Because - I want to be well-fed, happy, and ecstatic with my food plan. This is now NOT a diet. I have now been 18 mos. slowly losing weight, by finding the most satisfying plan, that I NEVER feel like binging on. I eat to my hunger and that is all.

Perhaps it was finding Dr. Richard Bernstein that helped in all this.

Quick weight loss no longer holds any thrills for me. I have been eating this way now for at least 18 months. It's kind of a cross between Atkins and Dr. Richard Bernstein (I DO have diabetes type 2).

I know Grans to Angels does not post here but she does read here. I know she has had a really hard week and is starting to worry about her operation.
Over the last few weeks ...she has been dragged over the coals by some. I know she is having a hard day with all of that today.
Maybe if some of ya'll could reach out and let her know how much we still support her. Facing the surgery and the hateful words...it has been a long hard week.

I understand that HoneyBee and as I posted earlier...I understand and expect to have to earn trust. I don't believe that my original posts were in defense of Heidi, but my right to chose which plan I wanted to chose, etc. Not wanting my name used with what I perceived to be falsehoods about myself, etc. I don't believe that I ever "fawned" over Heidi..I left it that she apologized and that was that...in my mind...(at the time). What I had heard in various places within KK was that there was controversy...Everytime someone disappeared there would be the talk of someone being banned...most recent that I remember was LauraLa. The it really boiled down within KK that "she lied", "the pics were fake", and there were "haters". That's what I knew about the controversy.
Maybe I had a duty...with my "personal responsibility" to learn more, but I didn't at the time. It was working for me...it was working for my friends...I left it at that. (at the time).

My, vehemently defending, was defending myself and my rights. Not necessarily Heidi.
And, it's not a complete 180, it's an open mind. I'm still eating KK. (although I have to admit that I have struggled the past couple days.). I'm still chatting at KK (I have a lot of close friends there). I am getting a lot of PM's, emails, and yahoo IM's from people wondering what is going on with me (because I haven't been in my journal everyday as normal and I haven't been posting as much) and my response is....just thinking ...wondering about cycling with ATKINS. I haven't told even my closest friends out there that I am participating here, but I guess if there are some that follow this, they know.
It truly is......Cleo's blog....the food that I was missing out on for no reason.
As far as why I didn't see everything going on around me the end of last summer and fall.. I was off work on disability from July 1 until September 10 last year. It was for severe mental depression. I could have cared less if someone had blown the earth up at that time. I didn't really participate on the KK site at that time and was half heartedly following the plan. (I have journaled extensively about this in my personal journal.) In fact, most of my chat and posts in December and January say....I was on/off plan from June to end of September, dedicated since September.
I remember logging onto another site one time ...because as a new "low carber" I loved sharing recipes. Took me ages to try the mock oatmeal, because it sounded gross. I finally tried it and I liked it. I wanted to share it. The first response to my posting that recipe for Mock Oatmeal was to be "mocked" because I was at KK. The couple times I ventured out, that was my experience. Anytime others chatted about venturing to other sites in KK chat....it was the same story...people were mean. So, it was safer....at least for me....to stay in my KK world with my KK friends.
If you read my KK journal, you will see someone who over the past 3 months (since journaling) has grown leaps and bounds in confidence, self-esteem and assertiveness. Otherwise, when the heat was on me, when I first came out here, I wouldn't have stayed.
I still don't like the "hi-jacking" of sites tactics. I probably never will like that tactic. It's not me....but maybe I understand a little more now that I have ventured out and seen somethings for myself, with my own eyes. And, that's what I'm trying to do out here.
