glad the fart jokes are over. having grown up with a Grandmother who always said "Don't just sit there help me sniff it all up!" whenever gas was passed I have an aversion to them.

Oh my, your menu sounds wonderful! I am serving ham, au gratin potatoes, rolls and applesauce. Others are bringing a vegetable, dessert and a fresh fruit bowl. I meant to get fresh brussels sprouts but forgot.

It's chilly and rainy here today. I'm glad we weren't counting on the grill for our menu.

Happy mother's day!

Sounds delish. We're having corned beef and cabbage and fried cauliflower patties. Low carb vanilla and chocolate ice cream for dessert.

Happy Mothers Day Duckies!!!

I had a comment about a coffee post on the previous thread, but I am so slow the thread was over before I got a chance to reply!lol

anyway about YUMBO coffee that I LOVE, I just found out that my favorite french press isnt the way to go if you are concerned about cholesterol
seems the filter in the drip metod sucks up the bad guys so therefore is better for you than the french press

anyway I am so p/o'd about it that I am drinkin tea today.

here's the link where I read it Does Coffee Raise Cholesterol? - MSN Health & Fitness - Cholesterol

Hope you ladies have as wonderful of a day as mine is shaping up to be... DH is grilling as we speak, and I'm wearing a beautiful necklace that was a gift from my DH and kiddos... one of those that has a stone for all of the birthday's in the family (including one "in remembrance" for the baby we lost 7 years ago **so beautiful**) May you be blessed and loved today!

Christin - that's just the kind of Mother's Day I love. We NEVER go out. DH makes a fantastic meal and we just relax out on the deck. Today, it is too cool to do that. He's making corned beef, cabbage, and some fried cauliflower patties. Plus, I have a wonderful book that arrived yesterday, but which I didn't get to take out of the mailbox until today. It is an Introduction to Literature. I have had an edition since the 70s (Edition #4). I have been looking through it lately, and the pages were falling out. It is already up to edition #15, but that is $70 in hardcover. I found a 10th edition for only $1.89 + $6.99 shipping. So I retrieved the mail today and there is my book! For a pittance, I have 1500 pages to look forward to. I am a happy woman.

You mean you cook like this ALL THE TIME???

Holy Mackerel!

Umm, Bama, If I decided to relocate, is there a house near you that is up for sale? Just kidding. I bet you make great breakfasts, too!

Bama, I wish I could be like you. I am terrified to cook for company. It seems so easy for you. It's easy for my Dh too. I get so stressed out, though, that I cannot actually enjoy my company! I am miserable the whole time! How I envy folks like you.

When I used to have the family over at Thanksgiving, I had to take 2 or 3 days off ahead of time to get ready. I think my problem was that I always thought that everything had to be "perfect". I could never relax and enjoy everything. So it was always tense, and not easy to really enjoy my guests. How I envy you!

Diana, did you see that they think you have to drink 6 cups a day to have the cholesterol-raising effect? Yowza! That's a lot of coffee!

hello ducks, happy mother's day from an admirer from the callanetics thread. i don't even do low-carb, but i have been following you all since last summer. so appalled at the jaw-dropping callousness that is heidi diaz, so impressed with what you've all managed to do. i don't think any of you are haters -- but i'd hate to you have on my tail! keep it up, there are lots of us watching.

barbara b, i saw your words about cooking for company and had to chime in. i can so relate, it's almost a phobia with me. tied up in knots for days, unable to enjoy it, second-guessing and kicking myself for days afterward. how do people do it so effortlessly? i know i never will...

I grew up with having big Sunday dinners. It was just part of our routine. Now with my parents and my sis right here on the same property where I grew up---we have returned to the Sunday dinner routine. It works out well---everyone buys the food and I do the cooking. Except for the grilling---that's my dad's dept.

My baby brother and his family generally pop in most Sunday's and then holidays my older brother and his crew show up. Then my dad's baby sis and her hubby pop in often usually with one of their 3 kids and families.

I really enjoy cooking, always have. My dad's mother taught me how--that's one reason my aunt shows up to eat often. As for cooking for a crowd---not a problem--I used to do a side business as a caterer many moons ago.

Is it any wonder I used to weigh nearly 400lbs---food is and always has been the center of all family functions.

I'm glad everyone has had such a joyous day. Now off to play in the yard with the kids and the pets.
