Not me, Deni. It isn't even on the legal docs, is it?

Vickie, I'm sure it was done with the intention of attempting to intimidate. I won't be all that surprised to see a reappearance of Martina's Martini at this point.

Dee, Awakened is one of the pricinpals of the lawsuit. That is Deni.

I'm sure you're right, Mom. I was thinking in terms of using the name as a search term...not intimidation....but intimidation makes more sense.

Wow, you guys are busy! I have been avidly reading this thread for a month now, and finally finished. To let you know about me -- I teach school and recently have been put in charge of a new computer program where the kids do everything on the computer, so I get to sit in a dark classroom for 2 hours a day "supervising" and playing on the internet. I have always been interested in different diet plans, and when looking something else up I saw the name "kimkins" and wondered what that weird name could mean so I clicked on it. It was the about.com story and after that I started googling everything else because it was such a weird and fascinating story. No one I know has heard of it either, and are amazed when I tell them about it. (Although they break into guffaws and accuse me of making it up the minute I utter the words "magic chicken diet"!)

I would like to answer a couple of questions that the "regulars" seem to have from time to time.

1. Coming in knowing almost nothing, with 2 hours a day to fool around, it has taken me about 5 weeks to get through everything. I was skipping about every 5 pages, although sometimes I had to turn back ("Tippytoes said what?") or got distracted by other blogs that were posted here, etc.

2. Other than the actual kimkins website, someone who knows nothing about this plan and googles it will find nothing positive about it, so you all have accomplished that goal. (Which is why that thing "crispybread" posted today is a fake; further proof is the author's use of the word "haters", which is pretty unique to this situation and not something who wasn't well versed in the vocabulary would just happen to use, IMO)

3. I sympathize with all of you who fell for it, because even though everything I read about it was negative and dangerous, and I am not a "low carber", there was still a little devil whispering in my ear, "It works fast, you don't have to lose THAT much, just do it for a few weeks," etc. Don't worry, though, I am not going to listen. But the lure of quick and easy weight loss can get us at any time!

Keep up the good work gals!

My first post to this message board was the result of me reading these Kimkins threads. I thought just like you. That devil sometimes whispers in my ear, even though I know better.

Glad to have another who grasps the infinite wisdom of those we call the "ducks.

FWIW, I think AmSay is real , not a sock puppet, and not even a diehard Kimkins supporter. I think he just likes the action and excitement that turning over the rocks and stirring the pot engenders. And ... he loves the sound of big expensive words that demonstrate his state-of-the-art denigration w/o being obvious. Student sounds way more like Heidi, especially as she won't permit any disagreements with her one-sided and spiteful assessments, especially FACTUAL disagreements. Besides, doesn't Heidi fancy herself as a female Perry Mason?

Seriously, get real. It's either Kimmer, aka you Crispy, or one of her /your little starving gnomes posting some bs blog to put their own spin on things and make stabs at the people who BUSTED them.

Crispy, it's not even Friday yet, lay off the ol' Captain and you won't get your days confused, geesh.

Can you deplete the stores? Absolutely, but if your liver is functioning it will hop right in and make you some more.
This is how you can keep going on a ketogenic diet. The liver is a nifty little organ, eh?
Lauren
Personally I am very doubtful of how well it does that, definitely did not keep my stores replenished one iota and also a good way to kick yourself straight out of ketosis is to replenish your liver.

Good enough to keep me coming back, even though the lc choices are limited. However, the owner just had hubby and I taste test a new offering, consisting of steamed chicken seasoned with onions and powdered ginger. No fats, no flour. (Not much flavor, either! Fat gives protein dishes extra zip.) But Kimmer would approve!
But the Chinese smorg is my main source of seafoods (other than canned Alaska salmon), and today my teeth bounced on a rubbery little piece of octopus. I ate it just to try it. Likely will pass, next time. But I cleared my sinuses with some green horseradish sauce. Whooo-ee! I'll share with you, if you want, Amy. You'll probably burn a million calories in 30 seconds with that firebreather!

I had no idea it was your legal name. In fact, I had to think for a while to figure out it was you. Like Hector says, Heidi always goes too far and outs herself.

My response to LEAN PROTEIN you all have been discussing:

Kimkins lists fatty meats as part of their program and then you make up that Kimmer said to eat meats that have less than 3 grams of fat per serving. (This is something I can not find anywhere on the Kimkins site. Please direct me to the post.) It is probably someone else's interpretation or it was made up by someone who took the diet to the extreme. Lean, according to what I understand, is to cut off all the visible fat before cooking. The only required countin' that is done on Kimkins is to keep carbs under 20.

Uh huh like your guidelines underneath your plans that make such recommendations as chicken breast, turkey, particular cuts of beef AND to only eat beef occasionally?

I have a question about that too. Since the liver is making glucose and pumping it out into the blood stream when we low carb to maintain the glucose levels of our blood stream as those body parts not equiped with mitochondria use it as fuel and muscles engaging in anerobic exhertion.

I know the enzyme needed to produce glycogen is turned off as long as glucose is being burned in a muscle cell that can manufacture glycogen and the chemical that activates our liver to make glucose will shut off when glucose supply in the blood is high enough so how does the liver manage to replace the stores while we are using them and don't have excess glucose from high carb eating to supple large amounts needed for storage?

My mom is doing okay! She's better than I am right now!

I got these sharp pains around my gallbladder and found out I have some stomach (ulcer)/gallbladder issues to deal with after an extended trip to the ER. I've been laying low, trying to reduce stress!
