OMG. That's awesome!
It must be difficult to not only keep up with who she is but where she's located at any given time.

Cup o' Pizza

Remember the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk"?

Steve Martin (Navin) is with Bernadette Peters (Marie) at Navin's place
which is actually the back of a trailer at the carnival where he works and this exchange takes place:

Marie: Why are you smiling?
Navin: You're the first person I've every had at my place.
Marie: You live here? Oh, it's nice. Did you decorate it?
Navin: Yeah, I got all this stuff from the old Cup 'o Pizza place before they tore it down.
Marie: Good pizza. (the two of them are eating pizza in a cup)
Navin: Oh, this is the best pizza in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup 'o Pizza guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this.

The challenge thread for Cup-O-Pizza is on "the other" lc board. There is a fabulous prize involved as well as eternal fame on my blog for the winner.

So far Cleo is in the lead....mainly because the other contestants are total n00bs and don't know how to upload a photo

Crispy...WHY do you come here? Seriously? Are you trying to defend the KK way of eating? Think Kimmer's behavior was fine and we should be upset about it? What?

The ebook has already been written, and is precisely one paragraph long. Sure, it starts with, "Call me Ishmael" and ends with "I like soup." That's what I call quality control.
If it includes the phrases "I'm off to Curves" and "Reader, I married him", then it's state of the art!

Oh LAWRD!

Well, Kimmer may have a new celebrity endorsement for her KK. Take a look at the pictures I just found linked on Drudge. YIKES. Sad.

Is Colin doing Kimkins? You'd think Jessica Alba would've warned him about that.

It depends on body chemistry, so forth as to how much you can eat at one sitting and how your body reacts to what you feed it. That's just my $.02 worth!
I agree with you, everyone is so different. As a teenager, I didn't eat much at all. I was fat from birth so I was very conscious of what I ate, especially in high school. The odd part was that no matter how little I ate and how much I exercised, I was still overweight. Not morbidly obese like now, but definitely above average. In fact when I started eating, that's when I gained 100 lbs in a year.

Talk about disordered eating, I wouldn't eat in front of people. I was sure everyone would be looking at me. I wouldn't eat lunch at all in high school or college. If I ate breakfast it was an apple, granola bar, OJ, or yogurt; then no lunch. Then a snack and dinner at home (but no meat b/c I was a vegetarian). Of course, I thought I was a pig. How else could I explain that I was overweight?? That's why it's so hard to wrap my mind around little bodies eating lots of food.

My response to LEAN PROTEIN you all have been discussing:

Kimkins lists fatty meats as part of their program and then you make up that Kimmer said to eat meats that have less than 3 grams of fat per serving. (This is something I can not find anywhere on the Kimkins site. Please direct me to the post.) It is probably someone else's interpretation or it was made up by someone who took the diet to the extreme. Lean, according to what I understand, is to cut off all the visible fat before cooking. The only required countin' that is done on Kimkins is to keep carbs under 20.

Is that what da folks that took the diet to the extreme did? Then they made up their own diet. Prove me wrong. I am willing to have a civil discussion about it. I want to understand your views on this topic. Just because the Mayo Clinic states that lean is 3 g or less of fat per serving does not mean that is what she (Kimmer) meant.
Lean protein isn't Mayo clinic defined it is USDA/FDA label defined. for a meat/fish/poultry to say it is LEAN it MUST HAVE LESS THEN 3 GRAMS OF FAT FOR A 4 OUNCE SERVING
If Kimmer was ignorante of this when she created her plan then she needs to correct that false information on her site. Since she is very anti fat it would seem her followers are the ones who are ignorant of the definition of lean protein and as a result they are saving thier lives by not eating lean proteins.

Nope I said it correctly say you have 100 cals of sugar. it only take your body 4 of those cals ( cals are energy measures) to convert that sugar to body fuel as ATP molecules so you got 96 of those cals left to burn off so they don't get stored as body fat ( yep the body stores excess sugars, fatty acids and fractured protein hydrocarbs as body fat)

When you shift your diet from a USDA based 60% carbs/30% fats/ 10% proteins to Atkins induction you gain burned off calories making body fuel cause it takes about 25-30 percent of calories eatten just to move the foods from lips to energy units ATP. more of the cals in a gram of fat are needed to make that gram of fat into fuel then needed to make a gram of carbs same for proteins. That is the metabolic advantage Dr Atkins talks about in his books we need more of the calories we eat to create the fuel our bodies need so if you eat the same cals low carbing as you did high carbing you's lose weight even with out adding any more exercise.

Of course we Atkineers add the mandatory ressitance and aerobic exercise cause Dr Atkins said if we are not exercising we are not doing his plan DANDR 2020 page 191

Is it any wonder I'm overweight and about food?

A couple things..in catching up. Yes. I am really Dee. I guess the easiest way to prove it is that you can see my pic on MYSPACE as well...My sign on there is something like "Dee-the best is yet to come" and I have been there for more than a year. My photo is there.

The other comment that I want to address is...I came here on my own, after directed here in a google search. Not here to do Heidi's bidding. I came on a mission to clear up some misunderstandings about DEEDLYNN. I stayed, holding my own for my rights....and I am continuing because I am the one that was screaming personal responsibility...so I am initiating some of my own personal responsibility in educating myself on both sides of the issue.

I am glad that things have settled down...and I can do some research and education.

I am still active at KK...still on the threads and right now...still following my KK plan...(but as I posted or emailed yesterday-considering a cycling with Atkins to see what might really happen...what are some of the possibilities..).

Yes, that is Dee in the Newsletter and the words that are written are my unedited words.

So.....what have I done today to "educate" myself...
--straight to the Library this morning and checked out the Dr. Atkins DNRDR book in paperback and CD--(wanna hear it in the car and get the information asap), plus the cookbook.

Talking strictly WOE, the jury is still out with me. But I am open to seeing/hearing/experiencing both sides of the story.

If Heidi does read this thread or KK admin...they know that I am doing this. They know that I am still on the KK threads. I haven't been banned yet. I have received no emails/PM's asking me to cease and desist. I came here on my own and I am remaining their on my own.

I do appreciate the time that everyone is taking to point me in some directions that focus on my WOE. (Because I'm not sure if it is OT or off topic at this point--but it is important to me...especially since calmer heads on both sides have seemed to prevail.).

I shared this yesterday with a couple of folks and I don't mind sharing it here today....what really really got my attention was Cleo's blog. I am a food aholic. Wanna get my attention, show me a good plate of food. I then looked at her stats which were numbers that I could relate too. Her recipes and the photos where driving me nutz yesterday. Now, I have done a lot of good things to make my meals work at KK. I have found things to replace my old faves and done quite well with them. If anyone is interested I have a MEAN Diet Cola Sloppy Joe recipe...(that people ask me to bring to family gatherings...LOL). But I don't hold a candle to what I saw at Cleo's blog.

My point is....that it wasn't the bashing (not being mean...couldn't think of a word) of Heidi and KK that caught my attention. And, yes, I know that's what this thread is for.....it was the idea that there might actually be another avenue out there as well, that would open up more food choices, etc to me...to help me be successful. I know that sounds selfish...maybe it is...I hope I'm not a selfish person....but that's the honest truth. If I had an ahhhh haaaaa moment out here....it was reading Cleo's blog.

Gotta run to see Doc McFarland...but be back later...

Thanks again,
Dee
Dee, I sincerely hope you are on the up and up and that you do, indeed, learn that you can have wider food choices, more calories, more fat and STILL lose weight, without the side effects that seem to dog so many KK members. That said, I have ONE question, and I trust that you will answer it straight up.

Why did you start your blog? Did you do that or continue that at the urging of Heidi Diaz/Kimmer?

Ok, so that was two questions, but more like one with a clarifying question

If this is true, forget it, I will never afford kids!!
My 9 year old can eat me under the table all day long. Seriously. I'm not 300, but I am 217. And it is SO not fair. Seriously, though, it has been the realization that he truly DOES need as much or more than me that has helped me with cutting back on my portion sizes.

Google healthy child weight or child caloric needs and you will find calculators that will show you how much their BMR is. It varies a lot by how active they are. Incredible. And disgusting

Come to think of it, didn't Prudentia do a blog post about that a while back?

To Crispy--I don't know if you are who you say you are or someone else. It has been questioned whether or not I am the person I say I am, so I'm going to assume...for now...that you are who you say you are.
That being said, I must respectfully disagree about emails & PM's. INHO, I think any pm or email between admin and admin or even admin and subscriber, that deals with the WOE (as opposed to actual business related purposes) should be shared. If it is a change in the program, clarification of the program, or a misunderstanding of the program. If the information is known and transferred from admin to another, then it should be clarified for all subscribers to see.

MomToEli--That blog was started only to avoid continuing to hi-jack AmyB's blog. I think I explained it to Amy in an email or on the blog or somewhere. That blog was started a couple days before the emails, regarding the newsletter, went back and forth between Heidi and I. On my blog, I don't censor anything (take a look at the blog from blah blah blah dated today). Pro KK or anti-KK. I have accepted every response that has been posted there. So it is exactly what I have titled it..."There are 2 sides to every story". Many of my pages are written in support of my KK woe, however, the title of the blog is exactly how I feel...there are 2 sides to every story. That is the story about my blog at wordpress.
Now, that being said, at some point after I googled my name and found myself out here, the emails between Heidi and I started with regards to the Success stories. I emailed Heidi and included in my email, if there is anything that you need from me...let me know. She responded, just keep up the good work, continue contributing on the threads, and if I wanted to blog about my progress to do so. It was that simple. She never sought me out. I asked her if I could help. Quite frankly, I do not know if I had or had not started my blog at the time. She has never mentioned it since, nor have I. Everything else in the emails is with regards to the Success Story. I am looking through my PM's at the KK site to see what the date is...It looks like I started my blog on 5/3/2008. There's the story of my blog.

I am who I say I am, and I am doing what I say I am doing. Initially out here, I was defensive...I did hurl some mud....but, since there are two sides to every story...if you go back and re-read what was said to me ...well, my actions should make sense. I think I did have a right to be defense..(BTW--I'm glad that it has evolved past that to meaningful dialog.)

I'm not afraid or unwilling to answer questions about my participation at KK. IF anyone should learn anything out here in this mess it's that nothing can be hidden and if you hide it, and it's revealed later, it's 10 times worse. That's why I didn't come out here hiding....I came out as DEEDLYNN and I remain DEEDLYNN.

Thanks,
Dee

Naw, thanks. I remember what you did to AmyB for asking about your progress

Well, by sheer coincidence I'm looking at the Post-Women's World printout here on my desk for your lean protein recommendations. You know, the one I printed out when I joined.

Chicken & Turkey
Choose any fresh or frozen poultry that is not breaded.
Remove the skin before cooking (emphasis mine)
White meat is lower in fat, but dark meat is fine
Rotisserie chicken may be allowed, beware of injected marinades
Duck and goose are fatty choices, enjoy as a rare treat and remove skin

Pork & LambChoose tenderloin, cutlets, extra lean ham or Canadian bacon
Trim all visible fat
Bacon and sausage should be very occasional treats
Turkey bacon or chicken sausage are better low calorie choices

Beef
Beef should be eaten rarely for fastest weight loss results
Even the leanest cut is 30% fat by calories

Who would call those fatty meat choices? The one making up stuff is YOU, backpedaling. Oh gosh...too late for that isn't it? Darned Ducks and their printouts and screenshots, anyway.

And, how can you be so familiar with Kimkins and not know what I'm "talking 'bout?" We (yes, I'm a Kimkins member) are waiting to see your next weigh in, which, btw is seriously overdue. Why is that?

One of the things that is so obvious about your sockpuppets is their disingenuousness, Heidi. You really ought to just come in here with gloves off, as you are, and talk to us. We all know it's you. Your pretense fools no one.

What are you afraid of? Why not engage us in meaningful dialogue?
