Dee, whether you do, or don't do KK, is your business. I'm just glad that your open to seeing that there are other healthier ways to lose the weight. I know, you say you have not had any problems and hopefully, that is true and you never do but many have but the plan was different then.

AmyB...what you are going through now is what most of us went threw when we left KK. Yeah, it works and works well but the "after" is a B....you go on benges, you gain fast, you get depressed because you were use to the scale moving down fast and almost every day, you feel guilty because you put so much work into it and now you are gaining. Plus, NEVER bing hungry was addictive, especially for someone who thinks about food from one meal to the next. I didn't gain back everything I lost from doing Kk but I did gain 2/3'rd of it back. I still have problems trying to up my cals or even diet. Hang in there...many have been there and many have overcome it. It is just something we have to accept for being so gullable and believing a lying lier who lies. That is what she counts on to make her fortune. We are all here for you.

Christin..yeah, 6 hours round trip!!

Oh LAWRD! Christin!! That reminds me of the episode where Barney was gonna buy a car from the little old lady in MT. Pilot and she told him it took her a couple of hours to drive to Mayberry (instead of the normal 1 hour drive time) because she like to "rest" the car after 30 minutes of driving.

Maybe Crispybread should use the name "Mrs. Lesh" for one of her many sockpuppets!

OhYeah -- ITA!! When I was in high school I did what I thought was Atkins. Lots of processed meats and low-carb products. Ugh. I can't believe how uninformed I was back then. And I do see questions on this board from people who are also misguided. It's not uncommon at all.

Purgury?
What is that?
Seems like you're here trying to work out your defense, Heidi. Why, girlfirend, you were advocating cut the fat way back when you were here. Curely you remember, eh?

Good thing there are more documents collected from your own history than can be counted. Just like your deposition ... you'll be askin' "Is it too late to take that back?" (snicker, snicker). I'll bet you never dreamed, all those years that your little fingers were tap, tap, tapping away on the keys that someone would actually SAVE any of that drivel. Lucky for the rest of the world, folks did.

I suspect you will be finding out what "purgury" is soon enough.

Hey, I'm planning a trip to Vegas, Baby. What dates are YOU going to be there again?

I would consider the OT posts to be those that are really just chit chat among friends. Nothing against talking about cats, cakes, the weather, or any of those things, and we have a separate thread for that now - but I can see where someone coming in here to find out the latest news on WFK might have a hard time wading through all that to get to the real news, especially if they're on dial-up.

So when we talk about the need for essential fatty acids (EFAs) in the diet, gluconeogenisis, satiation with sufficient fats, how SNATT is not a normal ketogenic reaction, whether you can stall yourself out with too much protein, etc. - I believe it really is still on topic.

Having said that, sometimes even talk about cakes can be on topic, if we're talking about the LC cakes we can enjoy, and still lose weight on a bona fide LC diet, rather than denying and starving ourselves to lose weight. Or even talk about cats, if it involves how cats need a diet comprised of fats and protein because they're obligate carnivores - and how that relates to what's healthy for humans to eat, as opposed to a nutrient deficient diet such as KK.

I think it just requires a bit of discretion on the part of the posters here to realize when their discussion is wandering off into OT-land, and really should be continued in the chit-chat thread instead of here.
I could not agree with you more. I actually have been surprised that so many that did KK had no prior experience with lowcarb.

I wish I could go out there and buy a ton of Atkins books and send it to all of you, I really do.

You would be AMAZED at the difference, and at how much you would be able to eat.

Okay, I'm not a betting woman, but I'll wager a bit on this:

Heidi won't make it to Vegas because her new car will have a MAJOR breakdown, and she just didn't have the cash to buy the extended warranty.

Too bad!

Ok, curious about this....it's normal for a 12 year old (she's still 12 until August ) to eat the same as or more than a 28 year old who weighs 300 POUNDS?!?! I can totally understand teenagers need more calories than a normal adult, but I am not a normal adult....I am a 300 lb adult. I am also 5'9 (she is 5'2).
If this is true, forget it, I will never afford kids!!

Sure, if you eat them anyway.

There are quite a few "No carbers" out there doing fine. They eat minimal veggies and eat mostly animal products.

There WOE is based on the research of acrtic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson.

So you CAN do low carb without veggies...it just isn't really the ATKINS plan anymore

I really think the list I typed below is an important read. It has opened MY eyes!

From Self Magazine, May 2008, Page 251

Diet Dangers: What's normal, what's not?

All of the habits listed below can be disordered. "The litmus test is whether the behavior negatively affects your health or interferes with your daily functioning." says clinical psychiatry professor Timothy D. Brewerton, M.D.

A very strong fear of gaining 5 lbs.
Following strict food rules
Dieting for more than 3 quarters of your life
Use of diet pills or laxatives
Fasting or juice cleanses to lose weight
Overexercising
Cutting entire food groups from your diet, except for religious reasons
Eating the same "safe" foods everyday
Extreme calorie restriction
Thinking about food more than 50 percent of the time
Obsessive calorie counting
Intentionally skipping meals to lose weight
Binging or vomiting
Smoking for weight loss
Lying about how much food you've eaten
Weighing yourself daily, if it becomes obsessive
Consistently overeating when you're not hungry
Eating of a lot of no-or low-calorie foods
Having concerns about eating or weight that interfere with your life (e.g., you won't see the doctor)
Considering foods to be good or bad
Visiting pro-anorexia or pro-bulimia websites
Adopting a vegetarian diet solely for weight loss

Wow, thanks for sharing that, Lora.

And a link to another article on the same subject:

The disorder next door: Alarming eating habits - Health - MSNBC.com

SELF poll reveals 65 percent of American women are disordered eaters:

SELF’s groundbreaking survey reveals that more than six in 10 women are disordered eaters. Another one in 10 has an eating disorder.

Sixty-five percent of American women who responded to a national survey by SELF are disordered eaters. Eating habits that women think are normal — such as banishing carbs, skipping meals and, in some cases, even dieting itself — may actually be symptoms of the syndrome. Although disordered eating doesn’t have the lethal potential of anorexia or bulimia, it can wreck your emotional and physical health, says Cynthia Bulik, Ph.D., director of the eating disorders program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and SELF's partner in the survey. And it’s everywhere, afflicting women like your sister, your friend, your co-worker — or you.

Sometimes kids eat like they have hollow legs! My 3 nieces can out-eat me all day long! I think it's a mis-characterization that all overweight people eat tons of food. Some do, some don't. I've read stuff about how much Carnie Wilson said she ate before having GB surgery. I've NEVER in my life eaten like that.

It depends on body chemistry, so forth as to how much you can eat at one sitting and how your body reacts to what you feed it. That's just my $.02 worth!

OMG. I just saw all the posts now. (WildAngel sent me a link).

Now I schmootzed my tea. Cleowear?! How about underwear that the dog can't chew through and doesn't end up in the backyard looking like billowy snow drifts?

All with the Sears Craftsman guarantee.

I am so flattered I will commission my son to play an armpit sonata in B flat.

BTW, I am excited to announce that I am now researching cup o pizza recipes. Yes. You are right to be both shocked and impressed. There is nothing more venerable than the pursuit of a little slice of Chicago in a Dixie cup.

In fact, I have something very special planned in honor of DEEDLYNN and wifezilla. I will unveil this today. (Keeping to thread topic)

The ebook has already been written, and is precisely one paragraph long. Sure, it starts with, "Call me Ishmael" and ends with "I like soup." That's what I call quality control.

When we talk about Atkins and Diets....I kind of think that does help the anti KK issues. For example Dee. She had no idea about Atkins . She is or was a front page lady. She is someone who represents KK. She is here and is all of the sudden saying wow..I can eat that much and still lose as much or more then on KK food. Wow.
Isn't that a BIG part of the anti KK battle.
I know for me..that there are days when I see the scale going up..I think maybe I should go back to KK for just a few days...then 2big yells at me..( haha..joke)
Atkins and other diet information is absolutely welcome here. That's not what I meant by "off-topic".

My intention was just to ask you all to help cut down on the posts that clearly have nothing to do with dieting or Kimmer such as cats, cakes, vacation pictures, farts, etc.
