Question for you techy folk out there - I'm techy challenged and my tech team is out sick
I know it has been addressed before that there are lots of ways to link back to searches and what-not - sincere apology cause I know this has probably been addressed before and just flew over my head, but... Could someone use a blog or blog hits (say, on wordpress) to generate affiliate income or something similar? What other "fun" tricks can be done linking to a blog post repeatedly? Is there anything we as lurking ducks should be aware of if/when we follow one of those links?

in other words you burn more calories processing a higher fat diet as you do a high carb diet-- using a fire analogy---it's the difference in burning paper and burning an oak log---the paper burns up quickly and the fire dies----the oak log burns slower but the fire gets hotter and lasts for awhile

Then I was stupid and listened to all the anti-saturated fat garbage out there and got sucked in all over again. Then I suffered medical problems because of it - Diabetes especially. Then I learned not to listen to all the garbage out there that is based on NO research conclusions. |

just having the link here builds backlinks for the blog---credible backlinks---which google likes---also visits to the blog increase it's page rank thereby moving it up on google searches---which is why we ask y'all to visit the blogs in the web ring so we can keep them high in the search engine rankings and also why you will see the blogs posted in our sig lines....just a little SEO(search engine optimization) tip for the day oh that's another reason some of the bloggers asked sites not to link to the KK site and for people not to be visiting all the time |

I have to chime in. Reading some of those old menu and portion control "ideas" from KK is eerily similar to what I was doing in Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous. I am physically sick from reading them. When my doctor found out FA sponsors have no medical or nutritional backgrounds (the menus are given by word of mouth) she was furious! My nutritionist has stated that in no way would she or any other reputable Doctor advocate KK or like-minded sites in any way!
I really think the list I typed below is an important read. It has opened MY eyes! From Self Magazine, May 2008, Page 251 Diet Dangers: What's normal, what's not? All of the habits listed below can be disordered. "The litmus test is whether the behavior negatively affects your health or interferes with your daily functioning." says clinical psychiatry professor Timothy D. Brewerton, M.D. A very strong fear of gaining 5 lbs. Following strict food rules Dieting for more than 3 quarters of your life Use of diet pills or laxatives Fasting or juice cleanses to lose weight Overexercising Cutting entire food groups from your diet, except for religious reasons Eating the same "safe" foods everyday Extreme calorie restriction Thinking about food more than 50 percent of the time Obsessive calorie counting Intentionally skipping meals to lose weight Binging or vomiting Smoking for weight loss Lying about how much food you've eaten Weighing yourself daily, if it becomes obsessive Consistently overeating when you're not hungry Eating of a lot of no-or low-calorie foods Having concerns about eating or weight that interfere with your life (e.g., you won't see the doctor) Considering foods to be good or bad Visiting pro-anorexia or pro-bulimia websites Adopting a vegetarian diet solely for weight loss

Hey....you guys started early and your started without me.
A couple things..in catching up. Yes. I am really Dee. I guess the easiest way to prove it is that you can see my pic on MYSPACE as well...My sign on there is something like "Dee-the best is yet to come" and I have been there for more than a year. My photo is there. The other comment that I want to address is...I came here on my own, after directed here in a google search. Not here to do Heidi's bidding. I came on a mission to clear up some misunderstandings about DEEDLYNN. I stayed, holding my own for my rights....and I am continuing because I am the one that was screaming personal responsibility...so I am initiating some of my own personal responsibility in educating myself on both sides of the issue. I am glad that things have settled down...and I can do some research and education. I am still active at KK...still on the threads and right now...still following my KK plan...(but as I posted or emailed yesterday-considering a cycling with Atkins to see what might really happen...what are some of the possibilities..). Yes, that is Dee in the Newsletter and the words that are written are my unedited words. So.....what have I done today to "educate" myself... --straight to the Library this morning and checked out the Dr. Atkins DNRDR book in paperback and CD--(wanna hear it in the car and get the information asap), plus the cookbook. Talking strictly WOE, the jury is still out with me. But I am open to seeing/hearing/experiencing both sides of the story. If Heidi does read this thread or KK admin...they know that I am doing this. They know that I am still on the KK threads. I haven't been banned yet. I have received no emails/PM's asking me to cease and desist. I came here on my own and I am remaining their on my own. I do appreciate the time that everyone is taking to point me in some directions that focus on my WOE. (Because I'm not sure if it is OT or off topic at this point--but it is important to me...especially since calmer heads on both sides have seemed to prevail.). I shared this yesterday with a couple of folks and I don't mind sharing it here today....what really really got my attention was Cleo's blog. I am a food aholic. Wanna get my attention, show me a good plate of food. I then looked at her stats which were numbers that I could relate too. Her recipes and the photos where driving me nutz yesterday. Now, I have done a lot of good things to make my meals work at KK. I have found things to replace my old faves and done quite well with them. If anyone is interested I have a MEAN Diet Cola Sloppy Joe recipe...(that people ask me to bring to family gatherings...LOL). But I don't hold a candle to what I saw at Cleo's blog. My point is....that it wasn't the bashing (not being mean...couldn't think of a word) of Heidi and KK that caught my attention. And, yes, I know that's what this thread is for.....it was the idea that there might actually be another avenue out there as well, that would open up more food choices, etc to me...to help me be successful. I know that sounds selfish...maybe it is...I hope I'm not a selfish person....but that's the honest truth. If I had an ahhhh haaaaa moment out here....it was reading Cleo's blog. Gotta run to see Doc McFarland...but be back later... Thanks again, Dee |
