I want to add something to this. I will not C and P because I feel that is not the right thing to do. But Dee has told me in e-mail that she knows I feel like I am beating my head against a wall..and for the record..the wall is a VERY hard one. But she also said that maybe she is starting to understand where I am coming from with my hurt and anger. She also mentioned that someone posted some PRE ww info that she did not know about. I am in no way saying Dee has decided to leave KK or run from KK..But she has taken the step to tell me that she sees why some of us feel as strong as we do. So for me..I guess it is worth it to beat my head against the wall.....I just wish they were not as stubborn as Dee..lol
So while some may get tired of reading the debate...for some it may be the first time to hear certain facts that we so know off the top of our head.
Did that make sense?

Ahhhh....gotcha!

We do hear a lot of "Because it WORKS!" Of course, smoking crack, taking speed, becoming a political prisoner or being forced in to a concentration camp ALSO work. I think all are equally unhealthy....but hey...if weight is your only concern, knock yourself out. Just don't try to tell me it's safe and healthy

I think that anyone has a right to express themselves on any thread of a free website, however, I think if someone comes into an environment which is not supportive of their beliefs than debate is inevitable. I suggest that if someone does offer an opposing view it can be acknowledged as freedom of speech but the energies given to that person might be somewhat limited to a respectful acknowledgement and then back to the business of what the ducks are about. JMHO!

Cleo and other Atkins ladies.

Okay here is something hard to admit...but hey lately I seem to spill it all here . And since this involves KK I think it is okay to post here..maybe another kk person will read this and know it is a post KK issue.

When I did KK I did not eat too much..oh wow that is a shock for some...lol
So I found it easy cause as Jeannie says ..I am use to grab a little this or that and that was a meal. But now that I am back to atkins..I find myself in a constant behind the eight ball way...cause I am not use to planning .

So I am going to work on that. That is why I asked you Cleo.
One last off topic question...I have had cast iron pans and ended up throwing them out. If I were to buy one...other then bringing it home what else do I do with it to make it ready...lol

I don't mind skimming through a few OT posts, but if the thread stays on topic that's okay, too.

I just know I never would bother you or the admins if it does go off topic.

Whereas, people, such as Dee, and others can come in with what appears to be an intent to stir up trouble, call the Ducks "haters" and other such nonsense and they seem free to say whatever they want for as long as they want. To me, THAT'S the crux of the discussion here about what's OT and what isnt.
Another complaint about this? You were simply reminded by an admin of the terms of service because of your post: "Every gal needs a little "sea man" in her life." That's all. We don't want posts like that here.

And we respect Dee's right to express her opinion especially since she was being talked about here. Do you feel she should be banned from the site because you don't agree with her - or would it make more sense to respectfully address her concerns as some others have done here. Instead you laughed and encouraged posts that tell her to not "let the door hit your A## on the way out." What type of reaction do you expect when people talk to you like that?

That was what I was trying to say in my (as usual) long winded post. I absolutely think that Heidi is a crook, but I'm still interested in understanding why anyone would think otherwise. I don't want to debate it, because you're not going to change my mind. But I am interested in hearing a different perspective on the matter.

Lou
For the ducks, the "debate" over whether Heidi is a crook, the plan is nutritionally bankrupt and more of a danger to your long term health than remaining obese, etc, is of course settled.

But for anyone who might come in telling us otherwise, I suppose we could simply demand that they read all 17 threads, start to finish, then come back here and try to justify their stance... but that's pretty inconsiderate, especially of people who might be new to the whole KK story, desperate to lose weight asap, and figure it's quicker and easier to just plunk down $79.95 than it is to read through allllll thoooose threaaaaaaaaads.

So when someone comes in trying to defend Heidi or her "diet", I really believe it's our duty to try to explain how we've come to this conclusion as concisely as possible, along with providing a few well chosen links that explain not only the fraud, but what eating such low calories, too little fat, and using daily laxatives can do to your health - not just our blogs, but also some links to comprehensive information about the scam (such as about.com, or 3fatchicks), as well as reliable information about the effects of rabbit starvation, malnutrition, eating disorders, laxative abuse, etc.

We've definitely had our share of socks, and those who come in just to try to divert us away from the topic at hand (and I'm not talking about the joking, cakes or cats - it usually grew out of the KK conversation, and applies in some way)... but IMO, it's terrible to assume that every newcomer is going to be out to get us and we need to be on the defense.

As fast as these threads move, it usually ends up that while you're typing away on a post explaining something, a dozen or more other posts go up with variations on the same theme. Unfortunately, there's just no way to know what someone else might be typing at the exact same time as you, so when someone new comes in and gets 2 dozen responses all saying pretty much the same thing (filtered through each of our unique styles of writing or presenting the information), it can be quite overwhelming to newcomers - especially if they're trying to answer a bunch of posts at the same time as still more go up! For instance, in just the time it took me to type this, there have been 8 posts... could be even more in the short time it'll take me to hit "submit reply".

Thanks Wildangels!

and here is the text that I have a question on...

Quote:
"Been a member of Kimkins for almost a year now but honestly haven't started the diet until this past Sunday. No real excuse here - just laziness, procrastination and a love of all things edible that has really kept me from being faithful.

My goal is to get back into my "high school shape," which was still medically considered obese, but being a football lineman, there was some muscle underneath the fat -- I remember how much energy I had and how I looked. Of course my weight was 250 lb and over the years I have lost and gained my way up to 375 lb. I'm still an active person who compensates for a corporate job (sitting in front of the computer all day) by walking as much as I can. Living in Manhattan, this is almost a way of life and a necessity as cars aren't that prevalent.

I had real success with the Atkins program in 2000 and lost close to 50 pounds that I had gained after high school and through college. Of course, I returned to my old eating habits and gained it back (plus a whole lot more).

To me, the Atkins program has started to get somewhat muddled down with the wide array of meal and snack replacement bars on the market, low carb protein shakes and supplements. Being someone who likes to "chew" and actually savor the flavor of food in my mouth, these aren't really the best thing for me. At the same time I was enjoying eating unbattered fried chicken, steaks for days and mayonnaise on everything, I was beginning to worry about the high caloric and high fat intake of the foods I was eating.

Research lead me to Kimkins which answered some of my questions and gave me some hope. I found myself not getting caught up in the bad press surrounding the diet, but focused on the results I was seeing by those who had tried the program and it actually worked.

So now, as mentioned above, today is day 6 of being on Kimkins and I have lost 8.6 pounds. I was afraid of the headaches stemming from caffeine and carb withdrawal (as I live on Diet Coke and love bread) so about 4 days before starting I began to wean myself off both in hopes of cutting down on the withdrawal symptoms and it worked!!! As of day six, I have only had one headache and I believe that was more stress related than anything.

Here are some of the tips that have helped me thus far:

1. Weaning myself off of caffeine, sugar and bread a few days before starting the diet head-on (so as to not go cold turkey).

2. Using my grocery store's on-line shopping feature which allows me to "virtually shop" in the store then drop by and pick up Kimkins-friendly groceries for home for the week. This helps me to avoid the pitfalls of the fresh baked breads, desserts and middle aisles of the store where temptation seems to lurk heavily.

3. At home I quickly boiled up around a dozen eggs to have on hand in the frig -- allows making tuna salad, deviled eggs or snacks readily accessible. Took large packages of fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breasts, proportioned the sizes and put in individual Ziploc bags in the freezer, only keeping 1 or 2 in the frig to throw on the George Foreman grill in a pinch.

3. Multivitamin: I was already taking one so this wasn't something new. I use the "Mega Men" from GNC as a personal preference

4. Packing my lunch every day without fail! Additionally, have also packed an afternoon snack of a couple of deviled eggs to eat right before I drive home. Since I pass several fast-food restaurants on the way, I've found if I'm not hungry, my SUV won't "automatically" pull-in to the drive-thru.

5. Bought a new suit two sizes smaller than my current size and hung it up on my closet door as a constant reminder of my first goal. Once I meet that goal I'll buy another a size smaller and continue to do the same thing until I've reached my goal.

6. Water: I'm not the only one who hates the taste of water. I did come up with a compromise for myself (albeit somewhat costly) of being different types of bottled water (a few bottles of Evian, Dasani, Fiji, etc.) and alternating what I drink. All have a different "taste" and it helps to "keep it interesting". I've also allowed myself a glass of seltzer water a day to satisfy my soft drink addiction.

That's it for today. A lot I know, but hopefully it'll help some other newbies out there."
... Kimkins member, Bill R.

Wow. He must have a lot of money. I don't know anyone who would buy a suit in the wrong size and then buy another and another and another until they reach goal. Maybe a pair of inexpensive jeans, but a suit? Or am I just a cheapskate?

I didn't POST that Tom, I merely laughed in response to it. I don't have a problem with Dee posting her side of things. She has a right to express her side of the issue. As a matter of fact, I've had very few dealings with Dee. My problem is with the fact that lately we don't seem to be able to make any little off-color remark about Heidi. That's my issue!

Hey, it's your board and you can certainly run it as you see fit. I'm not someone who complains about other's posts. I've only complained about one person here and fortunately he chose to leave us on his own. I don't TRY to cause trouble, KWIM?
