Excuse me if I'm confused, but is Laurala the one that was on the front page of KK, promoting the plan? If so, I thought I read that she had been informed of all the controversy, but didn't care because she was losing. Maybe I have her confused with someone else, as there have been a few that made that statement?

I simply saw a pretty rude remark about someone I consider a friend, and thought that perhaps it was made based on assumptions instead of fact. I am now really exhausted with the line between defending the honor of my friend and having to defend myself here.

I'm sorry to have even posted and gotten involved. I guess my tired sick brain doesn't have the normal "just lurk and stay out of it" guard on duty today.

I'm not meaning to preach or anything... just throwing out my 2cents worth to all the lurkers out there that not everything you see posted is fact.

I really believe that so much of this could be avoided if we would all talk in person instead of posting. But... here I am... hitting submit reply.

I guess I wouldn't mind this so much if it wasn't that a) Laurala HAS made statements that she knew of the controversy and didn't care; went on the front page in spite of knowing about it all; is now only gone from KK because she was BANNED - not because she got a clue, and b) MY friend is being singled out here.

Deni, maybe you are just having a bad day, but Bama really didn't go on and on and her responses here have been very measured and intentionally civil. You are making far more out of this than was there in the first place, and have drawn an inordinate amount of attention to it.

I thought Bama was your friend, too. Maybe not really, eh?

I spent a lot of time and care talking to Laura and I know for a fact that she left and THEN she was banned...
I also believe that she only knew PARTS of the controversy and didn't care. Because when I told her about ALL of it, she was in shock and sickened and asked to be removed from the page the next morning.

Yes, I am having a bad day... I've been sick all week.... Bama DID go on and on in a response to me and then she changed it to "nevermind" AFTER I saw it and replied.

It is not my intention to bring "an inordinate amount of attention" to the situation.. but I feel it's important that it not end in a misunderstanding. I also don't think that any of my posts have been uncivil either.

I am unsure of who to consider a friend if you want to know the truth. Sadly, I could probably only count them on one hand.

So, I heard from a friend who heard from a friend about the fraud of the Kimkins on her own. She mentioned the Russian brides specifically! It is wonderful hearing that all of the good, hard work has made a difference! People unrelated to the consumer effort to get the word out are now finding out about Kimkins!

I wanted to pass this along (the person lives in Canada. too!) We're talking international knowledge of this.

That is most unfortunate, and a pretty predictable side effect of your relationship with Heidi. Hold everyone at arms length, and Heidi wins.

Bama has spent more hours than I care to think about fighting for this cause. She has dedicated a big part of her life to warning people that they are endangering themselves. It is very difficult to have spent all that time doing that and then have someone that you know has heard those warnings act as if they never happened. It would be a real travisty for one of the "high profile" people in all of this to turn on someone like Bama, as you appear to be doing. What was it that some were saying about Yucky and her issues with Christin - why didn't you take it to her privately? No one likes to feel turned on by someone who is supposedly on the same side in such a public manner. Sadly, there seems to be a pattern emerging here.

I do hope that Laura comes to terms with what has happened to her - what she allowed herself to simply ignore, as she said on AmyB's blog. Just a minor point, but she did say that she asked to be taken off the front page and then was banned, not that she left and was banned. She also said that she declined to be allowed back in when that was offered - which is very wise on her part. I'm sure Amy was able to share how that worked out for her. It simply doesn't serve her cause all that well to now pretend that she was unaware of the risks, or at least of the charge that there WERE risks. It is wonderful that you, Cutie and Amy have been able to help her with this. All of us, I'm sure, hope the very best for her. But she did make a choice. She did ignore the warnings. I have to give AmyB a lot of credit for stepping up and saying she made a decision to ignore those trying to warn her. She accepted responsiblity for her choice to stay. That was one thing that has made it so easy to embrace and support her as she has come out of it.

Deni, the public whippings (even if you prefer not to see it as that) of people who have worked so intently doing all sorts of things - ranging from capturing screen shots for John T, pulling weeds, spending countless hours doing Google searches looking for where Heidi is funneling her money - is what is feeding into this whole them vs us mentality.

Oh, and as a side note I have a question I keep meaning to ask, but forget all the time ... you do take issue with the Kimkins diet itself, right? You agree that it's a bad and dangerous diet, right? I simply am having trouble keeping everyone straight here ...

Unfortunately, this gets a bit hazy when it comes to KK. I'm sure there are a lot of people still stuck in there that think they are Heidi's friend - but I do understand they are drinking koolaid and really don't know what they are doing.

They are currently misguided, but I would like to believe many of them will be my friends in the future.

Exactly, MissM. And sometimes it takes a bit to figure out if the cross over is authentic and if it is a matter of someone else actually making the decision for you.
