I have a story for you all.

Once upon a time, I was a waitress at an Italian restaurant. I've worked at all kinds of restaurants, but this is the Italian one.

One day on my walk to work (it was about a mile) I saw some smoke in the distance. I really didn't want to work that day, and I thought to myself (early 20's at the time) WoW! wouldn't that be great if that was my job burning down? Should I go get my camera and take pictures of the big smoke plume I see in the distance?

I was late for work, so I said na, just wishful thinking, not to mention I did not have my rent money, best I just get to walking.

I had to walk up a sort of long and windy road uphill - the Boston Post Road. A little bit further up the hill, The direction the smoke appeared to be originating from changed. Suddenly it looked like the hospital was on fire. I thought, Oh! that would be terrible if the Hospital is on fire.

A little further up the road as it took another turn, it looked like it was coming from one of my roomates job. Again, thoughts crossed my mind of how terrible that would be.

Finally I got to the top of the hill, and as I was approaching my job which was 2 blocks away, I began to realize that this fire was indeed close to my job.

My job was in an outdoor kind of strip mall. It was in the middle of several businesses.

As I approached the strip, just as I got there, my job was burning down.

I watched as the owner paced through the parking lot with his hands on his head and shaking his head back and forth. I watched a fellow waitress crying her eyes out. I saw a huge crowd across the street, watching all the smoke created from the video store next door. All the chemicals from the tapes going into the air.

I watched the fire for about 20 minutes. I was mad that I had not gone back for the camera - although I can still see it in color to this day in my head.

After 20 minutes, I realized there was nothing I could do about this situation, I wasn't getting paid, and there was absolutely no reason for me to be standing around, especially in front of a noxious fire.

I proceeded to turn around for the walk home. I also proceeded to hit every bar up on the way - and got a free pity drink as they all knew my job burned down.

I eventually picked myself back up again with a job and all, but it took a while.

This is how I feel about my blog right now.

Melissa, thanks for the tip on economical places. I'm all about economy, but I'm nervous about taking shuttles. I was born with no sense of direction and although I'm great with freeways ... it's the small directions that totally mess me up. This was why I was hoping for mid strip and then I could walk where we're going. I'm over-thinking this I'm sure!

Look at the next box down where she lists schools. The only one listed is Bethel Tate High School, but her survey says been there, done that to college. Seems odd to me - what college graduate do you know who would only list their high school in their ecuational experience section?

Ahhh - yes you are right -- I didn't even look there. Yes, I would be more than proud to list my college... so either she went to a really bad college or she is... dare I say it.... lying about something....

When I think about some of the reactions by some of the current members of Kk to the bombing run the other night, all I can think is "None are so blind as those who will not see."

Of course, we can't be too sure who actually reacted to it, and who reacted as an alternate personality of Heidi.
