Heh, great name!

The other cool thing about our kitties is they are both Hemingway cats. They are double-pawed.

All four of my babies were abandoned, too. Thundercat came from a rescue as an adult cat who had been abandoned on the side of the road. My brother found Minx as a kitten in a snowbank. A colleague found Morsel, aged just five or six weeks, wandering the street at 2 AM. Lilly was thrown from a car, rescued, sent to a foster home, was found to have a heart condition whereupon her foster mom joined the same online support group for heart-kitties I belong to, and then flew with her from Ohio to Boston so I could adopt her.

As I tell them all the time, "How could anyone throw such great cats away?"

And I mean it. There's a special place in hell for people who do things like that.

Vicki~I'm so sorry about your kitty cat.

I have two precious kitties myself, both rescue babies. I love them so much; but you know, I love all cats in general. Show me a picture; I fall in love. Every cat that crosses my path, your cats, my neighbors cats, stray cats, they all just totally melt my heart.

My only pets have been cats, and they have brought me so much joy my entire life. I've suffered thru the loss of a few over time, and it is always so hard.

I'm always so sad to hear about someone losing their fur baby.

Hi there HoneyBee! How are you feeling? You're probably best off making the rounds of the blogs. Heidi has been posting here and there on the blogs as CrispyBread, Anonymous, and kimkinite101, but you may have already seen that (back in February). There was the whole Sam Redman thing, with the usual accusation about the ducks not really having a case against Heidi. Yawn.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a houseful of pets, all are rescues. Three cats -- Chloe, the three legged wonder, Max Sinatra and Opie. I also have two English bull terriers (like Spuds McKenzie and the Target dog). Spike is tri-colored (like a beagle) and Charley (a girl) is white. Unfortunately, Spike was diagnosed with terminal heart disease. We are sick over it as he is only 4 years old. He was given 3-4 months, and that was six months ago. We are taking it day-to-day with him.

Thanks Barb B- I will hit the blogs and start reading this "new" thread. Wow...number sixteen.

Yep, I sort of thought crispybread was Heidi since that was the name of the blogger who did the "kimkin's Lesbian" blog post with pictures of previous staff/admin. And then when a commenter on Prudentia's blog showed up with that name defending Kimkins and saying how we should use "our time" more wisely or be upset with the government for the food pyramid not kimmer for kimkins ....well then I was pretty sure it was Ms. Heidi.

I saw some of the posts of sam's in thread 15, but I didn't wade through it all.

Ok, back to speed reading I go.

Yeah, I do love the look. I am bummed though that I cannot customize the CSS to give a lighter text color without paying a fee. The quoted parts are kind of dark, but for now I am going to leave it unless I get major complaints. Thanks for the feedback.

I do that too. My mom is "grandma" to my boys.

Sorry about Spike. I hope you have many months left with him. We lost our little girl Missy in 2005 and I don't think we'll ever be fully over it. Her brothers looked around the house for her for at least a week.

Okay, everyone wish me luck today! I have a job interview with the county school system. It's not a teaching job, but it's at the central office and requires certification. Sounds lofty, but its someone to coordinate resources for students in the system that are struggling for whatever reason. I think I can help out with that!! So, think lots of good thoughts for me. It will be a foot in the door, so to speak.

Oh, and Truth, Cutie, Christin, et al., it's nice to have you guys hanging out with us more around here!
awww, how sweet of you!

i'm a "hit & miss" kind of gal these days. some days i have extra time for posting and then i might go days/weeks with no extra time...so i'm not real dependable for consistency, lol.

some of you already know this...but last month, i left my job, apt, etc in tx and have moved to va for a while to take care of my elderly parents, namely my father. my father who is a long time diabetic and heart patient had a stroke that has left him unable to drive and do much of his own caregiving. for a while now, my mom has been trying to take care of him on her own but the task has been too overwhelming for her and now she is exhausted in every sense of the word.

where they live in va is pretty remote (though picturesque, gorgeous mountains!)...and for her to drive to the store etc. is a minimal 40 minute drive. that is wearing on her with all the doctors' appts, etc. not to mention the actual physical care of dad is too much for her. she is petite and can't get him off the floor when he has a dizzy spell and falls. also, his stroke has left him with issues of memory loss etc. that leave him often frustrated and child-like with his emotions. it takes a toll physically and emotionally to be around him...and poor mom is spent.

anyway....i'm here now taking a "leave of absence from my whole life" to help out and to see about getting them moved up to pennsylvania near my older siblings so that they can help take care of mom & dad on a regular basis. that would be a better long term care situation.

to get them moved and then get them settled in a new place, find new doctors etc. will take a while so i'm expecting not to be able to go back to texas to live again until sometime next year.

all that babbling to say...depending on what's going on with all that, some days i have lots of "free" time when dad's napping etc. and then other days i only have time to myself really late at night after they've gone to bed, so it's "hit or miss" when i can get online to read and/or post. but i think about you all often and am so glad so many are still persevering in this very important mission to shut down the kimkins site and put a stop to heidi.
