Surely, you aren't addressing me with that statement. I never heard of the topic until a few weeks ago (when I saw that video). I haven't not posted anywhere else on this subject prior to here (in fact, in no other place about kimkins, but lowcarbfriends and the copy and paste compilation on my own site). If anyone has a link to a prior post from anywhere that looks like it came from me on this subject, I would love to see it.

Did anybody else receive an email that appeared to have been sent by lowcarbdiscussion (Jimmy Moore's forum)? There is a virus attached to it!

It seems that Jimmy's forum has been hacked again. The link to it on his blog is gone and I would not recommend to use the direct link

Well, like my first post on this thread said... I was intrigued when I first saw a video on one of the tube sites about the Kimkins fiasco and so, I began doing some Google searches. The story became more fascinating when I discovered that behind a simple fraudulent sales promotion was a internet posting vendetta (now that's not necessarily a bad thing). If those conducting a vendetta are truly on the side of righteousness, I offer no condemnation. As Barry Goldwater said, "Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

I am glad that I'm not as senile as I think I am at times and did indeed recognize you from elsewhere.

Are you also the Samuel who at one time was a poster at ALC? The writing style is more than similar.

The plot thickens.....

Yes, Jimmy is under attack right now, so be careful when going to his forum for the moment and when opening emails from his forum as well.

I didn't click on it thank goodness---because it said something about having to enter a code and there was no code in the email

(yes, I ended a sentence with a preposition! :P)

I think it would take someone with the skills of Gary Taubes to be able to accurately and fully tell the story of Heidi Diaz. Unfortunately for us, I don't think he was ever a member at KK.

Oh, I disagree. It would take someone like that, Mayberry, to tell the story from the victim's point of view, certainly. And it would take Heidi herself to put her own spin on things.

But, it would take an objective third party - maybe a biased third party could pull it off - but a third party, none the less - to be able to tell the whole story. A person willing to at least hear both sides - there really ARE two sides. This whole thing is very fascinating when you step back from it and remove any personal emotion. It is a classic example (IMO) of people coming together to stand up in the face of evil - and that evil also has a name and parents and a story of their own. That fact doesn't make it any less evil.

I also agree with whomever said that it would naturally fall to some sort of true crime writer, or aspiring true crime writer. Sam's interests do lie that way - consider his interest in the Holloway case, and now the Caffey (I presume that is the case he is referring to) murders. So, his interest in this doesn't baffle me at all.

His approach has been interesting, though.

Gosh, Heidi's minions are hard at work! Surely she isn't dumb enough to think any of this will work? What's the point in temporary delays?

I was speaking via PM with another duck this morning and I said that even if these threads went poof and everyone who posts here were banned from LCF, it's not going to change anything that's happening to Heidi. It's already in the court system. Any new lie (and there are plenty) that she's told recently that we report is just icing. The cake is already baked!!

So, pay someone to be a rabble-rouser, pay someone to hack into Jimmy's, etc. You CANNOT stop the train with your name on it Heidi and you KNOW it.

I have to disagree with this statement. A good writer will want to cover all angles of something, even those points with which he/she disagrees. For example, I think anyone who's read Taubes agrees that he is quite a good writer and extremely thorough. He has definitely "chosen sides" in the whole low carb/high carb diet debate. I would say he is emotionally involved since he says health problems led him to research the topic, and that led to his book "GCBC". His personal involvement with the topic didn't keep him from examining all sides of the argument.

I certainly have no plans to write a book about this topic, but if I did, Heidi's point of view would HAVE to be part of it. The look inside the mind of someone that twisted and demented would be - well - fascinating.

I could see a CSI episode, where someone has died from malnutrition, and it comes to pass that there was more behind the scenes, and that some were encouraging folks to not eat in an underground anorexia-type cult. No one would be charged at the end of the show, but the foe at the end of the story would be viewed in the interrogation room with Detective Brass... a morbidly obese ring leader who drove and encouraged people to not eat... and one... to starve herself...

"No life should be snuffed out this easily."

*camera close-up on Gil, furrowing his brow. Cut, as the sheet is dropped back over the face of the deceased*

(That is purely my fictional take on a screenplay for CSI, so don't give me any grief. The people are all fictional and any likeness to people, living or dead, is purely coincidental.)

Cleo,

Just make sure the younger, dark-haired CSI regular is featured prominently in your script and you are assured of many (female) viewers.

He could be my cabana boy any day of the week!

I sure am glad the Jimmy trademarked "LLVLC" because I'd hate to think of anyone else using something sooooo clever and totally original.

Anyway, I AM sorry he got hacked. That ain't cool.

I have been posting on boards since the seventies (beginning on the Commodore 64, using Compuserve, which was like a forerunner to the internet and today's bulletin boards) and from way back then, I have ofttimes explored very similar forum situations, where strange and often unusually intense relationships form between people (who are actually geographically distant strangers to each other) anonymously hiding behind unique posting pseudonyms, but where behind the scenes plots and "take over," as well as, "take down" plans unfold and where loyalties are broken and revenge is sought. Hatred often builds to such very intense levels it sometimes has even resulted in assaults and even murder. I have participated in a few boards, where I saw it happening and where it increased to an insane, mad frenzy (years ago, the very first "big brother" tv show boards had fighting groups, which were something to behold... one fray resulted in a shooting between members of opposing boards). On smaller boards, the sociology of the fighting factions can be tracked, until you can often observe the "tipping point" at which a board has been entirely taken over by a group with special interests or bias or prejudice (much like these Kimmer threads), where no discussion or dissent is allowed unless a poster agrees with the majority (anyone else is shouted down).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're looking at this from a sociological perspective, then you have sullied the scientific method by actively participating in the forum. If we are your scientific experiment, then the posts you have made here have been designed sort of as a test to see how we would react, am I correct? You are the independent variable, we are the dependent variable...and where is your control group?

Also, researcher bias may be a factor here due to the fact that you have already formed an untested hypothesis that mob mentality rules when these groups of forum posters come together.

Additionally, you have left a gaping hole the size of Texas in your development of this study, by not taking into consideration another independent variable at play, the actuality of perceived wrongs. For instance, you compare a television show audience forum to people who were cheated out of their money and, some, their health.

Before (and if) you write your book, you might want to take these things into consideration.
Extremely well said, Jeanessa. As always - concise and to the point(s).

Anyone remember the old Laugh-In show?

I'll bet Heidi does. I understand that her favorite part was when someone would say "Sock it to me!"
