Hey - I think I used the hoe, rake, and shovel with you the other night, but I don't know if it got vaporized or not.

I suggest we use the term " Horticulture implement" which can be shortened to Hi !

Yes, it has. I will go over the good points first.

1. I will bet that I could never have quit without it. It's like a freakin' cotton batting (I don't even know if that is the right word). The cravings are sort of "covered" and smoothed over. Nothing is harsh.

2. My main problems are: Sleeping: I wake up either 2 or 3 or 4 a.m. and cannot go back to sleep.

I have some stomach/gas problems which derive, I think, from both my Metformin and Chantix prescriptions.

Other than that, I wouldn't do without it. How bad is it to go for several months with the above listed problems - against lung cancer or other issues?

No brainer!

Just hope I can do it!

I don't get the magic chicken stuff at all. Didn't the .net site says it was going free now that Bonnie was going to be working the insurance job? And now there's no one in there but one person? Or is she the only one trying to answer questions for those that are there?

OT but.. if anyone gets a chance would you please participate in the poll at http://weighingthefacts.blogspot.com/.

Congratulations! I have two friends who own a bar/grill that allow smoking and they were both smokers. Well about one year ago then went on Chantix and are still smoke-free. My girlfriend said that it was easy. She especially loved the dreams at night Couldn't wait to fall asleep.

She did gain a few pounds - but is in the process of getting it off.

She did say that the hardest part of quitting was when she was talking on the phone. Down here in Florida most of us go outside and smoke - no inside smoking.

So again, congratulations! KUTGW my friend!

Thank you! I remember, back in November, I think, when I was thinking about it, you sent me a PM about your friends. And that was what made me go for the Chantix! So I have you to thank for a much easier way to quit! Thank you!

My simple answer is this, Bill Gates has made more money than hundreds of people could spend in a life time, why does he charge for Vista, when he could easily given it away to the world for free?

Does it strike any of you as a little strange that the first part of this was rambling and full of spelling and gramatical errors but the last bolded part re: Bill Gates was lucid and almost grammatically correct?
Yes, that also struck me as strange. Good point.

That's so great! My husband is on Chantix, too. He said it makes cigarettes very unappealing to him, but he still smokes a few. My fingers are crossed for him! Do you have any advice for me? I know I can't make him want to quit, but did you find anything anyone said or did helpful?

Shazam, Jo..you said a mouthful! Did you have to put a bucket on your head to think of all that?

Reckon we could cure Heidi of being mean if we sent her a tube of Miracle Salve? I got to go by Dr. Pendikes' office tomorrow and I could pick one up!

From what I saw Barbara, she does! I have a screenshot of a post where Suzy is begging someone - ANYONE - to talk to her. Sad. And according to one of the blogs, Suzy paid the full $69.95 for this kind of... uhm... support.

Suzy - that's for you sweetie! There are other places for support and much, much healthier diets.

Good luck to you!

Well, a couple of things I can think of. I bought Chantix in November, but I didn't feel prepared to quit until February. I think it's all about mindset. Don't enter a quit if you are not prepared to quit. Sounds simple, but it's really true. You are supposed to quit on the 8th day of taking Chantix, but I felt I still wasn't ready. I smoked during the first week of Chantix, but cut back from about 22 cigs a day to 6. I waited until the 11th day to quit altogether. Attitude is a huge part of it. AND I was immensely helped by njquitnet.com. What a wonderful site it is. There are all kinds of things to encourage you and keep your mind off smoking. And there are various anniversaries that are celebrated with interesting things. Like your 3-day bracelet, which you design (in your mind) and show off to other members, who comment on it. There are internet jigsaw puzzles that people post. And you are encouraged to pledge every single day that you will not smoke that day - this keeps you honest and gets you by, day by day. There is such wonderful support there. And you can keep your own journal, for your personal voyage to quit smoking. People send you private messages when you reach short-term goals - 3 days, the end of your first week, which is called Hell Week, then your 2nd week - Heck Week, etc. I can't say enough about it.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Another thing is you have to have a plan. For the times you feel a craving, for the psychological connections (i.e., determine when you are most apt to smoke, then alter those situations). I wasn't sure I could continue drinking coffee and quitting smoking. But, after Chantix, it seemed like it was going to be okay. I stocked up on tons of TicTacs - the only thing I could have because I am diabetic also, so no hard candies. And anyway, I didn't want to gain weight either. So far, I think I'm doing pretty darn good.

That is outrageous. She should ask for a refund if there IS no forum and no support. Seems like a membership at MCD is no better than Kimkins - perhaps worse - at least at Kimkins (from what I hear) the support on the forums was a draw.

Good for you Barbara! I started chantix smoking 2 1/2 plus cigs per day and am now down to about half that! Doc says I should figure on quitting completely at around 2 months of chantix! Hopefully sooner, but just taking it one day at a time. The only really bad side effect I've had with it is nausea, but it makes me not smoke during it, so that's a good thing!
