They probably think they did, Kat ... back when it all started. Can't remember whose blog it was all on, where they said it was named because of her grandson calling them magic chickens (not sure why he wouldn't call them magic cans, since it was CANNED chicken, but that detail isn't important), and how they'd never even heard of Kimkins until the WW magazine came out (they never said if they subscribe or bought it off the rack at Wally world, and never explained how they managed to know about it with enough advance notice of the publication date to have been advertising for a clone, but that detail isn't important), and how she was told by GOD to share this gift of successful weight loss with others (but didn't quite explain how he told her to charge the amount she is, or at ALL, frankly - wouldn't God have us share with others for free?, but that detail isn't important), and how this is just an awful coincidence and misunderstanding, and then followed it up with that wonderful dotnet site with all those loving, husbandly like comments and all (which has now been miraculously scrubbed, with the slightest hint of explaination or apology to women everywhere, but that little detail CERTAINLY isn't important).

Yes, ladies and gentlemen - The Drakette is surfing around at Kimkins this weekend and just PM'ed me the following tidbit of troubling information.

SL is dishing out so much crap and bad advise this weekend I can't believe it. She is on such a power trip w/out Heidi around that it is almost like she has taken over the site.

Alas, poor Singinglass. She is in an abusive relationship with Heidi and doesn't even seem to realize it.

Don't know, Reb. I gather that the negotiation with the Cabana Boys Union in LV is...uhm..protracted.

Drakette didn't speculate to me where she thought Heidi-ho might be off to. Since I was sent to banned camp, I can only speculate on the whereabouts of Kimmer.

As far as Amyb's "friend" from over there, I gather there has been some "global cooling" in that relationship.

You know, it's interesting if you head over to MCD and look at the success stories. The pictures are all GONE, except for Bonnie's. The testimonials seem a little suspect, too. Not a WORD of health concerns, hair loss, etc. Just many people losing 100 lbs. in 5-6 months.

What's wrong with this picture?!

Obviously because it's a WEIGHT LOSS site! No one claimed it's a healthy weight loss site. If you were selling something, would you focus on the failures, the dead and dying, the bald as a billiard losers? Of course not. You'd just sweep those ones under the carpet where they can languish unseen.
Naturally the resemblance to Kimkins is remarkable, but all this proves is that bad advice is bad advice no matter whether promoted by a fraud or a successful dieter.

mariasol: Magic Chicken Diet Questions

After reading Mariasol, I've decided to start referring to it as the "Tragic Chicken Diet".

Either Bonnie and Heidi are in league or Bonnie's playing a dangerous game of copycat.

You know, I wonder if Bonnie or one of her sister's could've been a member at Kimkins and THAT'S where the Lupers got their website idea, prior to the WW article? Perhaps that is the only "connection" to Heidi. Still, the Tragic Chicken Diet is nutritionally bankrupt and like Kimkins will cause health problems for anyone that follows it for too long.

I just can't figure out if Bonnie is well-meaning, and misguided or if she's way too much like Heidi.

You know, something is wrong when a person has to have a license to cut your hair, but anybody with a can-opener and some Costco chicken can start a weightloss advice site.

I believe in "caveat emptor" but, people who give out financial information have to have some serious training to call themselves a "financial advisor." Shouldn't weightloss consultant, advisor, whatever, carry a special designation too?!

Heck Mayberry you even have to have a license to own a dog or catch a fish.

My point exactly with all my convoluted (no Capt'n involved, too many carbs!) Pre Maintenance/Maintenance ramblings.

When you want someone giving you advise, don't you want an expert who not only knows how to get to the goal but is actually successful in keeping themselves in check also? I for one, don't want that financial advisor who has declared bankrupcy himself messing with my hard earned money.

Or do you want someone who says they were at goal at one time but has no evidence to prove it and that "stress" made them gain a whopping amount back in a matter of a few months?
Or someone who is serving up tidbits about "what I do" and "it works for me" who is still a long way from goal herself?
Or a woman who claims to have lost a huge amount of weight in a very short time but has yet to "share" her plan to keep it off either?

The common factor is none have a proven track record and for them to be handing out something akin to medical advise and charging for it is a travesty.

Yes, and as a teacher, I often wish for parents to be licensed before having kids as well. Guess Heidi would've never had little Dennis or Brandon if that were the case!
