OT--Mental Health Parity

We interrupt this program for a shameless plug and public service announcement.........

I posted here recently about the Mental Health Parity vote that was coming up in the House this week. I asked for y'all to please get involved and contact your representatives. Many of you did this and I thank you. The house did pass their version of this bill.

Now on to bigger work. The House-passed measure must now be reconciled with a parity bill already passed by the Senate. A final version will have to be approved by both chambers and signed by the President before people living with mental illnesses will finally have the same rights under their insurance plans as individuals with other health conditions.

Please check out my blog post to see how you can be of further help in this fight.

House Passes Mental Health Parity Bill

Now back to your regularly scheduled program---As the Kimmer Turns....

From the Kimpound

I was asking earlier about when I was going to get my Maintenance Plan from KK. I'm actually 7 lbs from goal so I need a little Pre Maintenance advise. Looked around. This is what I found:

Close to goal...what should I do?
Hey everyone. I am within 10lbs of goal but I dont really see the scale moving as fast as I would like it. I sorta expected that but wondering what suggestions you may have to ensure that the scale keeps moving. Meaning should I watch portions, calories, splenda intake, diet sodas, exercise etc.

I am aiming for another 5lbs loss in the next 2 weeks so whatever it takes I will do it. I am actually thinking about cutting out the coffee with splenda and the diet sodas for the next 2 weeks to see if that will help.

This is what passes for a Pre Maintenance plan and advise from SL

Wow! Congrats on being so close!!! Unfortunately, slower weight loss is something that happens as we get closer to goal....but think about how much comparatively to your overall bodyweight 10 pounds is now to what it was when you first started. When I first started ten pounds was not enough to show or even make a dent, now after having lost over 1/3 of my body weight ten pounds is a higher percentage of my overall mass, so I think that maybe have something to do with it....if that makes sense.

I would say keep as you are doing....do not do anything drastic that cuts your food intake/ callories. BUT, cutting out drink extras would definitely be something to try, I would say swap them up with more water. Some people do get stalled up a bit from sweeteners, so that is something to consider. You may want to simply try adding in a little exercise....walking etc...

Congrats again hun

Huh? So let me get this right.....

Basically I can look forward to starving myself for a little longer. Then I can look forward to not ever having a diet soda or coffee with Splenda ever again? Because obviously the "myth" about the last ten or so pounds being hardest to lose is a direct corolation to my one Coke Zero a week. Thanks but I'll pass. Maybe someone who has actually made it to goal and kept it off can give out some wisdom.

From the Kimpound part 2: Vegas Plans

"quotes" from the board
(paras) from me

Kimmer:
I vote we wait until a bit closer to see if prices go down, but will that mess up the folks who are looking for airfare/hotel deals? I'm not a traveler and haven't a clue.

(No clue? Leaves that old "I can't make it" door wide open, now don't it?)

For the Chippies (or their alternative lol), how about we leave it as an optional choice? I've never been and I'll be embarrassed (I'll recover, don't worry) ... but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Or their husband/boyfriend's.

(You can be embarrassed? Since when?)

From Member on another post:

you Las Vegas ladies all should meet up in one of the hotels gyms at 8:00 am then another one at 10:00 am then for lunch somewhere, then maybe at a pool for organized water aerobics at 2:00 and 4:00 pm then dinner somewhere for 6:00 pm then everyone will get to really know eachother and have the rest of the night off, then do the same the next day, and if anyone wishes to skip any of the sessions they wont feel guilty but at least set it up with some of the hotels so you can get the chance to treat you like V.I.P.s just suggestions.

(In my best Dr Evil voice......"Riiiiiggggggggghhhhttttttttttt---t".... Silly girl! Gyms, exercise, pool, aerobics, walking???? Don't you KNOW who I am?)

Sometimes, you don't get what you ask for, but what you actually get is better than what you were asking for....

I contacted this site to ask them to remove the information about the Kimkins Diet Scam:

Cerebral palsy of colorado | Cerebral Palsy Symptoms

Check out what they did, instead.

Thank you, Hector!

Okay I may be really out of line here . But I could not help but think how pathetic it is that someone like Heidi could even be allowed to comment on a site that deals with sickness. And from my experience I am pretty sure Heidi has not nice or kind feelings for sick or disabled children. Look how she talked about my son with a stroke and medical issues. Thank Goodness she is not on that site anymore. No telling how she would figure a way to use their illnesses against them and make money. Cause that is Heidi .

Amyb,

Good to see ya here! Hope Philip is having a better day!

I hope you don't mind, but I blogged about Heidi's nastiness toward Philip today. The thought that she was taking disability money while committing fraud to rake in more than a cool million - AND - making snarky remarks about someone with true disabilities all at the SAME time is sickening.

I only wish the wheels of justice didn't turn SO slowly!

Ketosis question for folks who did KK.

On low-carb, low-fat, low-calorie, did you register on the keto stix?

I've always wondered if the sticks are measuring ketones from the fat you eat or from the bodyfat you burn.

If you aren't eating any fat, like on KK, then the ketones could only be from bodyfat if they register. If no ketones register on the stix and you are losing fat (along with muscle) then it's only the fat you eat that cause the color to change.

Am I making sense with my question? I've been on sinus drugs for the last several days, so I'm feeling a little loopy.

Sorry you are feeling bad, PC. Feel better!

Can't answer your question, though. This might be a better one for the ML. I've never used a ketostik. From my understanding, the level of color on your stick can be affected by the amount of liquid you drink. I'm a big water drinker, so I never wasted money checking a ketostk even though I was tempted!

Heidi may appear in "Vegas" after all

From Yahoo! video games news
Quote:
Snap photos of your head from the side and front, and Vegas 2 will create an in-game model that looks just like you and can be used in both solo and multiplayer games. You can be male or female, white, black or Hispanic -- but your name, in the single-player game at least, will still have to be Bishop. Sorry. Unless your name's Bishop.
I don't know if Heidi-kins is into gaming, she is more of the scamming type, but now she has a chance to "appear" in Vegas and never leave Corona!

I'm not sure if you can multiplayer with a bunch of cabana boys, tho!

Hi Amy,

Ever since we all learned that Heidi gave her young (14ish) foster boys alcohol, it has solidified the fact that she should not have anything to do with kids. What a sicko is right!!! Hugs to you and your family..

stix do not know where the molecules that where bundled up to become ketones came from. the stix only measure the concnetration of one form of keton body. The fatty acids that were oxidized to create the molecules could be from either dietary or body fat just as they are from any other low carb diet.

AmyB hope Philip is recovering and you guys have found a way to manage his pain. How are you doing yourself?
