I HATE to tell Fawn, but Heidi doesn't give a tinkers you-know-what about Fawn being black. It has NOTHING to do with anything, as far as Kimmer is concerned. Kimmer wanted Fawn around because she loved the adoration. And, let's face it, Fawn's post did get people talking, here and there! Kimmer definitely subscribes to the notion that all publicity is good as long as they spell the name right.

Fawn, my dear, you've been used by Heidi, and some think ( Medusa) you still ARE being used by Heidi. And, once you've outlived your usefulness to Heidi, she will discard you. Not because you are black. It's because the only person Heidi gives a rat's behind about is herself.

I asked your question here, and what I got was a bunch of mumbo jumbo. When I made a funny face, he told me that all you have to do is "direct your address to go somewhere else". He said you can keep the address but let only certain people know about "what to ADD on to the address you type in)

He said you could also do it so you have to be a member so long or a certain number of posts before being able to reach that certain board. I guess that would be like the "playground" here.

Did any of that make sense?

Is that why the MCD site looks dead? If it's like the playground here, yes, you have to be a member for a certain amount of time (I think 60 days) before it even shows up in the forums list. Something about slowing down the trolls~ Maybe the MCD has a second password or an access setting only given to paid members?

You could also have different categories of members. Admins, for instance, will have access to admin only areas. maybe there are members, then super members.

It would just be a member designation. Think of it like security clearance. Some people can see nothing. Some people can see things on a need to know basis only. Some people can see the whole shabang. If you understand databases, then one of the fields in the database might be called "clearance". So, the combination of the user name and the "clearance" determines what they can see and what they can access. We know they do it here with the playground. But here it is set to automatically change based on the join date. Somewhere else maybe a change has to be made manually, on a person by person basis. That way they can hand pick who gets in to a particular area. A forum is really nothing more than a big old database. That info would just be one more field in every record.

We used to have that sort of thing on the old CompuServe forums, too.

and to keep folk who can't see it from even knowing it is there it would have to be different forums like a general met and greet type thing newbies could see and if they get the high sign then they could see some other forums like a diet plan and an FAQ with mods assigned to that area and if they are approved they could access the whole board.

1-they would notify members of the new board
2-and why it wouldn't be posted anywhere for new members. (Just to let them know to keep posting in order to go to the "secret place").

Why would we assume that there are enough members over at the MCD to even need a hidden board? There has been no marketing of this site. Even with the craziness gone from the MCD dot net site, there isn't even a link to MCD dot com. The link from the candle shop is gone too. No affiliate program on the site. Not even a blog that points towards MCD.

How do they sell memberships? On Bonnie's candle route? To Bonnie's insurance customers?

Kimmer had very active viral marketing. Apart from members recruiting friends from other low carb boards, she spammed MySpace, CraigsList, Yahoo answers and sent recruiters to other boards to spread the word. Not to mention all the articles by Wouter and other internet marketeers. Plus affiliates.

you don't get in based on number of posts. you get in cause they think you should, so they will be asking you questions, watching your posts, PMing and emailing you off board talking to you about your diet and stuff so nobody on board sees it. then somebody contacts you about joining a different part of the board. I'm sure it would have a fancy name to make you want to be there and one day you stop posting on the board the new folk see and you are off on the real place.
