Ally Marie update:

A couple of pm's sent me searching for Ally at Jimmy's. I found her, sort of. She was there and totally trashed Kimmer. She also apologized there for calling LCF a bunch of "haters". However, she hasn't posted there in a few months. So, I sent her a pm. She said she wanted to help get Heidi, so hopefully she'll take me up on the invitation to join us in that fight.

Thanks to everyone again for your help with this! You all are truly the best!

Kimkins was my first foray into boards etc. After many lectures to my three kids about the internet, I should have known better than to have taken so many things at face value. I have become very wary of what I say and to whom.

Mayberry knows about how I have trust "issues" now. I think maybe I'd feel better if I went out in a blaze of glory over there too but I just can't.

I'm doing my best to lick my wounds and move on.

The following is an email I sent to the editors of WW today concerning their "apology" (read CYA) of their Kimkins story. Please, send your own thoughts to them as well!

What exactly did you hope to accomplish with that anemic, barely there retraction of the Kimkins Diet story from last June. Seriously, are you kidding me?

The original story was a cover story complete with success stories, real and fake. At the very, very least your retraction should have included follow-up interviews with Christin Sherburne and Deni Huttula, the two actual success stories in your piece. If you had done that, you'd know that they've each had health problems associated with doing a very low calorie diet (VLCD).

You claim in your retraction that "reader trust means everything" to you. Really? You could have fooled me. The retraction should also have given "Kim Drakes's" real name - Heidi Diaz - and the fact that there is a pending class-action lawsuit against her. The evidence in this case, the attorney's name, and the names of many victims of this fraud are readily available on line. I guess reader trust means everything to you just so long as you don't have to go to too much trouble to tell it, right?

At least the National Enquirer doesn't pretend to be anything but a rag.

P.S. Deni I hope I spelled your last name correctly! If not, sorry!

And even more happy to hear that you are safely away from Kimkins.

Take your time and when you feel more comfortable with us, just know that you have lots of friends here who will be happy to listen.

It will take time to overcome the trust issues, unfortunately. Sadly enough, Heidi hurts people in so many different ways.

You've found a safe haven here, and with time your wounds will heal.

I only pray that more folks will see the light and seek safe haven.

Jo, take your time. You have friends here, believe me. People who have turned their lives upside down to prevent more people being hurt. But you shouldn't feel pressured in any way to tell your story. That is your choice.

Yes. I do know about "trust issues." And, please, don't take this as pressure to tell your story. I'm just gonna tell you mine. I lurked here for a long time while I was still a KK's supporter. I totally DID NOT get what the folks here were talking about. At first, it was curiosity that kept me reading here a couple of times per week, with my mouth hanging WIDE open, btw. But, something kept me coming back. Maybe it was my common sense that kept telling me there must be something to what the people here were saying about Heidi (Kimmer). It cannot just be hatred for this woman based on her personality.

I truly believe that unreasonable bias, hatred, whatever you want to call it, cannot stand in the face of facts. People who hate (let's use the KKK for example) choose to remain ignorant of those they hate and just focus on superficial qualities like skin color. Okay. So, some people would have those who were/are members at KK's believe that the folks here are just haters - the Kimmer Klux Klan - as it were. NOT TRUE. I realized by reading here that the people who are out to stop Heidi, including myself now, are motivated by HELPING others so they will not be hurt by the Kimkins diet.

I've been contacted by another KK's member who, just like you, still has access to KK's and feels foolish over falling for the scam. She can't bring herself to go out in a "blaze of glory" but she can't bring herself to join us here. That's okay. No penalty points are assessed for not telling Heidi where to go.

The ONLY thing I'll ask of you is not to let what Heidi has done change who you are. I've stated many times here that I finally realized I'd rather be a trusting person who gets taken sometimes (although it won't be nearly as easy now!) than to be a cold-hearted land shark like Kimmer.

You're among friends who like to have fun, honey. Let the healing begin!
