Is it just me? Or is there something wrong with this???
Wrong in what way? Amy didn't leave Kimkins because she felt the diet didn't work. In her case, and with an apparently balanced WOE, she has done well. So she isn't going to be hypocritical and blame the diet. Her problem was with its lying founder, and the PBTP, as far as I can determine. I thought, under the circumstances, that her offer to put up a disclaimer was entirely fair. The only quibble I had was that her disclaimer basically said - I left Kimkins , NOT that the diet was too low in calories and fat even at 800 calories per day. And citing an URL to a medical professional discussing the effects of too low calories would add to its informative value. "I left" is not saying much.

Members of (Jim) Jones' church called Jones "Father" and believed that their movement was the solution to the problems of society, and many did not distinguish Jones from the movement. The group gradually moved away from the mainstream.

With all due respect Miss Merize, your emails to Amy show you in an unfavorable light.

It looks like you were threatening ("I'm not the only one who thinks this"..."I'm going to write about you in my blog") and harrassing this woman because she wouldn't do what you thought she should do.

Wow! Unbelievable.

The more I read this thread, the more appalled and shocked I am.

I think the message is definitely commendable (to alert her how people could interpret her videos as promoting Kimkins), but boy... the delivery needs some polishin'.

It wasn't a threat, but more of a "heads up".

The first response back that was "I probably won't do anything" was really sad!

I understand what you are saying Lola, but she has known about this problem for months, and is hiding in the bushes.

If she had just said, "I've been busy, but will be attending to the matter soon" or "I could use some help" on the first reply, the story on the blog would have been much different.

Her initial response really let's me see what Amy is all about.

I'm on to bigger and better things now anyway.

Here is video about filling out the form for the FTC.

There was no threat. Other people DO agree with her. As someone who makes and edits videos, it would take her about 15 minutes to cut out that section of video and reupload. If the recipe is the important part, showing her weight loss isn't necessary....ESPECIALLY if it is credited to a dangerous eating plan.

Someone should tell Amy about free movie editing software if she's having problem "fixing" her video.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.

Sounds like Amy had a different disclaimer but this is what she has now:

*Disclaimer:

The early videos were made while I was doing the Kimkins diet and in some of them, I reference the Kimkins Diet. I no longer support that diet, nor do I recommend anyone join Kimkins.

Not a lot of info but at least she is not recommending Kimkins.

No real contradiction, Ani. Like most people, she followed her own version of Kimkins and ate what she believed followed the guidelines. The 800 calorie upper limit was established by TT after Amy left. The rules were ambiguous in the amount of fat permitted, and she might have been one who added extra fat where she felt it was needed. Since I haven't come across any evidence (or forgotten it) that her health was damaged, she may have just been one of those fortunates whose youth and nutritional status could handle the temporary restrictions of Kimkins.
The most important point I read was that she supported the work of the ducks, if not all their methods.

Yes, we have made that comparison many times too. Especially, when members had responded to some posts at another blog and Kimmer pretty much told the KK members to not respond and return to their "safe place'. The entire safe place, haven or making of one's own bubble of reality spooks me and sounds like a cult too.

Does anyone know if Heidi herself ever approved the 800 calorie minimum? It's easy to go on TV and say "we" are willing to make changes and "we" established an 800 calorie minimum. The real question is, under what authority were those statements made, and did Heidi buy into it?

I remember her discussion about a conversation with her Indian doctor. He was convinced that we Americans have a feeding "fetish", and because of this, we have this morbid phobia of fasting and missing meals. We ugly Americans have convinced ourselves that we will DIE if we fast for longer than a week. The rest of the world fasts regularly, for religious reasons, for much longer than that. Essentially, the conversation boiled down to the fact that her dr. believed that we are all a bunch of sissies.

I would think at this point that she would say ANYTHING to be able to salvage her ill-gotten fortune. I'm still wondering how she's still getting money, and why affiliates aren't dropping her like a hot potato, considering all her assets are allegedly frozen.
