LOL actually there are no more carbs in a raw onion then a cooked onion it is just the form the carbs are in.The chemical in the onions that block is from tasting the sweet flavor is destroyed allowing us to taste the sugars there.
Dr Atkins did say to use green onions for the onion flavor as they have less carbs then the other onions.

One of the things I've been thinking about lately - and I know this is weird - but I often wondered how Kimmer latched onto Russian brides. Then I remembered that Robert Atkins' bride is Russian! YES! Veronica Atkins is Russian. Is there a connection? Who knows? Funny thought though!
Barb I wanted to say thank you for sharing some of interactions with Dr. Atkins with us. He does sound like a great person as well as an outstanding doctor.
I loved the muffiin - cake reference Dr. A made.

Sounds like they would have been perfect as partners.

Also, when you cook and onion (or any food) the volume decreases. If you start with 1 cup sliced onion and cook it, you end up with about 1/3 cup - so it seems there are more carbs because it would take 3x as much to get the same amount you started with.
Spinach too - 6 cups raw cooks down to about 1 cup cooked lol

My husband cooked some spinach last night with our chops. He said "I had so much when I started, I don't know where it went to"

Recently, I pulled out a vegetarian cookbook from the mid-1970s. There were a few muffin recipes in it. Take a guess at how much sugar was in each recipe?

2 tablespoons! In 12 muffins. They were still carby, of course, with the whole wheat flour and a handful of raisins, but they weren't cake-sweet. Oh, how times have changed.

I followed that book almost like a bible for 5 years and look where it got me. Overweight.

Not sure if this is the post you were referring to, so maybe I'm duplicating what you were saying, but Medusa has a really powerful post up. Please consider using it when you need to explain what's so bad about the Kimkins "DIE-et".

One more day till Brandon's deposition, and then this thread will come alive with a vengeance. Brandon, if you're listening - I know she's your mother and all that, but she has involved you in a nasty start to becoming a legal adult. Which means now YOU have to look out for yourself, as evidently she doesn't love you enough to have your best interests at heart. Tell the truth, Brandon. Throw yourself on the mercy of the court and don't try to bluff your way through, hoping against hope that past misdeeds will escape judicial notice. They won't. It's as they say - you can choose your friends, but not your relatives.Don't let even your nearest relative make you pay for her misdeeds.

SMP- Maybe hit some of the important things...to him that is... he may have to cut his hair if things don't go well and I don't think they let you wear black nail polish in a federal prison or play PC games either.
Let Momma answer to her wrongs and you can return to your life of teenage angst.

I’m haunted tonight. I can’t sleep because my head is full of images. Images of people just signing onto Kimkins.com. I can see them vividly and I can feel their feelings and hear their thoughts as they introduce themselves. As they type out their first greetings, nervous with anticipation and filled with renewed hope. Another beautiful soul, who has dared to dream again, hopping onto the magic carpet that will only disintegrate into dust.

Who are these people? Heidi Diaz aka Kimmer doesn’t care. They’re faceless to her…just another $60 in her pocket.

Let me introduce you to some of these people. They are real. They are just like you and me.

(snipped - but if you missed it the first time, go back and READ it!)
Wow, Sweeteater. I have tears streaming down my cheeks. I've been each and every one of those women it seems. The hard part for me is that I DO remember what it was like to be "normal" yet it now seems so out of reach. When I got married 13 years ago I wore size 7 jeans and xtra-small tops. I have the clothes to prove it - can't bear to throw them all out - just in case.

I don't even know who I am anymore. I miss myself and I want me back - so badly that even I entertain the idea of just maybe trying it - how bad can it really be? Thank God the intelligent part of my brain kicks in loud and clear.

Anyway, thanks to everyone here who so loudly sounds the alarm. I think that is why I keep hanging out with you all - you keep me tethered to the truth - keep me from falling into that vast, enticing pit.
