lowcarbmargi: I had similar experiences, unfortunately. My mom used to restrict me to carrot sticks, boiled eggs, and plain hamburger patties as a kid. But, then she'd always have some kind of luscious dessert or cake sitting around. What kid could resist?

Someone brought up Brandon's profile...I'm not calling him Rezeyu 'cause we ain't friends...

But, it made me wonder if Tee-Pee Toes has a kid or two? If she does, they're probably working the monster truck circuit or pro wrestling or something...

OMG, my godmother did that to me too! She was always baking cookies, brownies or cakes, then I was allowed to have "one" portion if I was good.

On that note, welcome home to you as well!

Don'tcha know, he's just so annoyed just being called "Rez" in those 'mundane places.' (Although I think it's doubtful he goes anywhere else BUT mundane places.)

I really did try for years and years to eat a "healthy" diet full of whole grains - all it did was make me hungry, sap my energy, make me sleepy, and cause me to gain massive quantities of weight.
Me too, and there was a hint of celiac disease and wheat allergy in there as well. I can eat 100% rye crackers every day, but that's about it.

But oatmeal? I feel great.

In other words - keep a food diary and do what's right for you.
Cravings can also be undiagnosed food allergies. Your favourite food, the ones you think you can never live without, are apt to be worst for you. I like oatmeal, but it makes me too hungry.

My moods were already wigged out because of adolescence, and I was on a high carb diet on top of that! Of course I was blamed for the scale not going down, for either being lazy or gluttonous. Yeah, nice things to say to a kid that's 13 years old.

EDIT - I'm not sure if I wanted to count the grapefruit diet in, because it consisted of two days with me refusing to eat grapefruit. I lost about ten pounds, all water weight, until my mom finally relented and let me go back on deal a meal. Figures.

Another vivid memory I have is my godmother sitting me down in front of a very small plate that had half a tuna fish sandwich (fat free mayo on white bread, little lettuce) and exactly ten plain flavored potato chips.

Ok glad I got that off my chest.

Bama,

For some reason your new av makes me think of a rapper. Maybe it's the quarter laying in front of it. Does that make you "50-cent-Light?"

Yo. If you get a record deal, can I be your manager? I'll only charge you $79.99

You said it! Then to throw the thin-obsessed media on top of all that, I wonder how the experts can actually feel "perplexed" that many of us don't have a "healthy relationship with food."

Oh, I meant to say good job on the Brandon information. I wonder why Dennis doesn't start his plumbing business to help out?

Oatmeal has always made me hungry too. I noticed this but didn't connect it to food allergies. I don't eat it often, but I will be more aware of what happens when I do eat it next time. I used to think that eating breakfast in general made me more hungry than when I skipped it, but then I noticed it had more to do with what I ate at breakfast.
Apples also make me hungry.

Yes, it's kind of boring. Most times I've been there, there are 7 or 8 users online. So, if you subtract Pokey, Brian, and Heather and another counselor or two, there's virtually no one there. Fawn (Butterfly) sends out her SMILES and HUGGIESSSS. If you post, you don't get responses for a day or two. I can't go there that often 'cause I fall asleep.

I was always that way ANY kind of cereal breakfast left me starving an hour later.

Well, good.
Hopefully, the onslaught of New Year's Eve resolvers have by now fallen off the wagon and the traffic will die down, like it does every year. Hopefully, everyone's gotten the mesage and are steering clear of the place. Most people nowadays are savvy enough to google something and research it a little further.

Apples make me hungry, too.

Eating a "balanced" breakfast makes me very hungry and sleepy; pancakes or waffles leaves me almost comatose. Eating a protein/fat breakfast gives me lots of energy and I feel soooo much better all day.

Wow, Finally caught up on the thread..I can throw in my eating story, too. I was a pleasingly plump kid...but mine was due to a bloated little belly from Celiac Disease. My two sisters were extremely slim and called me "Fat Fat the water rat!" (I used to swim a lot) and they also sang "Fatty Fatty two by four" to me. I hated myself all through childhood. I'm better now and have had to help both my sisters with their weight issues.

Any carb breakfast plummets my blood sugar. It took me years to find out I had Celiac Disease and get treatment (GF diet)..I easily gain with carb high meals. The KK diet worked for me because I didn't drop the cals..daily I was 900-1200.
I credit my disease for getting me to read about nutrition.
I agree that folks don't need a degree to write a diet but should offer the free look-see to let you know what you're paying for.
Anybody lurking that still is on KK and in her site should join the lawsuit...she is a fraud.

Also, I am reading Gary Taubes book Good Calories, Bad Calories currently and rereading DANDR. I am constantly asked questions about weight loss and want to be the best informed I can be..that isn't possible with standard medical education. You have to seek it out.
