too much protein is what causes the ketosis breath associated with a low carb diet---

I render lard---learned it from Modern Foragers site---lard was always a staple here in the south---but commercial lard is part trans fat----you can make your own easily---luckily There is a local slaughter house near me--I'm able to buy bones, hooves, scrap fat etc. I make my own stock---recipes are on Weston Price

then we also have this place for the best amish goods---great cheeses---the good kind not that fake stuff like kraft---good fermented cheeses

olives are another way to get fat in your diet without protein---

Those are the ways to get fat in your diet---

Margi--since you like avocados--I found a great recipe on the net for avocado stuffed eggs---it is marvelous
Wow! I am SO impressed.

Apparently, if you do eat a lot of protein it's gonna show up in your blood sugar and you'd have to take more insulin to deal with it.

Someone correct me if this isn't accurate.
Yes, you are correct. Dr. Richard Bernstein warns about too much protein raising insulin levels. I don't take insulin -- I am on Metformin. But I do find that if I eat too much protein, my blood sugars rise above where I want them to be.

see this is why I spend more time here than on my WLS site---too many of them are into the whole low fat gotta have grains ideas----I just beat my head up against a brick wall with most of them----then they wonder why it so hard for them to lose their weight and keep it off.....

one even told me she "dumps" from eating fat---hello get a clue---could it be all that fiber one you eat every day that has your tummy in an uproar---not the fat

for those not familiar with WLS---dumping is a huge side effect where you get sick as a dog when eating sugar--some just have serious diarrhea from it

I end up in the ER---great aversion therapy to not eat anything to high carby....

Have you ever tried some of the recipes on lowcarbworx.com? They are from TV shows from Mary Dan Eades and Dr. Michael Eades. My husband - who cooks far more than I do - makes a wonderful black soybean soup with coconut oil , and some wonderful little low-carb breads made with almond flour, rye flour, and bran. You can dip the small bread into a lovely olive oil dip containing all kinds of herbs and garlic. Wonderful!

Fraud: Recognize It. Report It. Stop It.

The Best Way to Help Stop Fraud Is to Report It.

If a scam artist has contacted you or if you've been defrauded, contact the FTC at Federal Trade Commission - Home or 1-877-FTC-HELP. We gather evidence, identify fraud trends and alert law enforcement throughout the U.S., Canada, and abroad. By reporting your experience, you can prevent others from becoming victims and help put an end to fraud.

The Face of Fraud: It's Not Who You Think.
Believe it or not, there is no typical fraud victim, but research finds that fraud victims are likely to be educated, informed, relatively affluent, and involved in their communities.

Scammers don't care about your age, race, income, or geographic location. They just want your money.

You Wouldn't Fall For It?
Thousands of people are defrauded each year. Scam artists use the latest trends and sophisticated techniques.

Hey, Siggie:

For a long, great read go here: Case Information 7.1

Type in Guest..Then type in Heidi Diaz..Then click on the Fenderson versus Diaz case, then go down to the first thing listed with a little camera on the right side..

This is many pages of legal stuff..and it will kind of fill you in on what happened..The best thing is the attorney's letter at the very end of the 100 plus pages. This works great if you have cable or dsl..

I wrap my chicken in bacon when I bake it, sometimes pound boneless chicken breasts flat and roll up with cream cheese/spinich/anything else you can think of inside. Bacon is GOOD!

Many people have chronic renal failure and do not realize it until it is too late. Ultimately they end up on some type of renal replacement therapy (dialysis), or if they are lucky they get a transplant.

If you have a family history of renal disease, you should be checked frequently for declining kidney function. Also, most patients starting on dialysis now ended up with end stage renal disease because of diabetes. So going low carb and preventing diabetes will also protect you from acquiring renal failure.

HTH.

Now back to bringing Heidi down!!
Thanks for that information! I don't have any kidney failure in my family, and I'm not diabetic, so I am on the right track low carbing.
