It is an extremely well-written book about the science of why lowcarb/high fat diets work.

I have been on this plan for 2 weeks. Starting blood sugar was 136. Today, I came in at 110. Starting weight was 216. Today I came in at 205.

I was in the process this morning of being advised by a medical professional that I needed to eat half of my FRENCH FRIES and not put butter on my MASHED POTATOES when she took my sugar level. She stopped and asked me how I did this so quickly. I said, "What is your opinion of dietary fat?". We had a good conversation! She wasn't aware of this way of thinking/eating, but was very open to the possibilities and encouraged me to continue.

I would like to throw in a hearty recommendation for this as well, but with a caveat. Taubes' audience isn't the casual dieter, and this is not a "diet plan" book. This 600 page brick is a compilation of his research into the "research" that led to the meme of low-fat and the replacement of High Fructose Corn Syrup into everything from bread to beer. The audience is one who is looking for research, not 'the next big diet plan' and I would even go as far as to say that it is targeted toward nutritionists, doctors looking to adivse their patients on healthy choices and us, the ones who are obsessed with the topic. :

If anything, it will help break through the mindset that fat = bad and start to wear down those old pyramid mentalities that told us all that our diet should be first focused on starch and an occasional skinless chicken breast.

BTW -- theres your fraud right there. Forget SugarCookieCrumbedStretchPants. She is claiming the same exact "Current Photo" with various levels of weight assigned to it. In order to sell a diet subscription.

Nuff said...

Edit to add -- Same goes for the fraud that is SL, claiming different numbers on the same picture. I originally screen shotted these with just The Scameratrix but wanted to capture the header promising the weekly UPDATES to WATCH US LOSE.

Years later when I picked up the Atkin's book, I was like "WHAT! I was doing it all wrong!"

Woofy, I hear ya! I thought it meant all you can eat as well and yep, buffets were my favourite hang outs, too. But I eventually cut way back on my protein for other reasons, but kept up my fat. So I don't need to start over again, just more or less where I left off. But this time, I'm resisting fruit more, and fat less. I've even been eating coconut bark after resisting for years. (I shoulda kept resisting - that stuff''s addictive!)

But you can't eat fudge! Sorry, it's one of the fake non-nutritive foods that set up greater and greater cravings, kind of like post-Kimkins binge eating, except it's a blood sugar response more than a starvation response. Kill it dead with fat and protein, and you'll be on your way down again.

That is the importance of healthy dietary fats. They fill you up and they are the body's preferred fuel. It is physically impossible to overeat on a diet that is 60% healthy fat, 25% protein and 15% carb.

WOW! Between weeks 4 and 6, Kimmer only lost 3 pounds!

She must be weak.

She must not want it bad enough.

Remember, kids! Kimmer is only for those who want those pound a day losses!

3 pounds in 2 weeks? She must be not using her fitday properly. She must be eating more than she's claiming. She must not be doing Kimkins.

Golly, Kimmer. How's that weight loss working for you? What? It's not because your calories are so low that your body is rebelling? Well, shucks. Just be careful your hair doesn't fall out.

Hot dang! I spoke too late.

Don't forget, four days with no weight loss is a stall. I think she's fudging on the whole thing and hasn't lost an ounce.

I apologize for bringing Tippy's post here. She's heavily censoring comments on her blog, so I posted here. I didn't really consider that you and Dottie and the other admins might never have known what she said, and would have been better off left that way.

I feel particularly stupid for feeding her demand for attention. I chewed all my cuticles off first, but couldn't let her off the hook in the end.
