I wish we could have more brown fat...but we have the most when we are newborn to help keep us warm. Alas, as we age we get more white fat and lose some of our brown.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like things are really building up again. I've noticed a lot of the earlier big time fascination posters are back -- like Cleo, Kiki, ControlledCarb, and RightNow to name a few -- and it's darn nice to see them again. Maybe HevinMonkey will even turn up again? The Truth even posted a blog or two. Could The Awakening of Ducky be far behind? Makes me feel like "stuff" is happening. Good stuff.

One of my new year's focus is to laugh out loud more and you guys are getting me off to a good start. Aside from the usual holiday stress I experience every year, I have several other stressors going on that I wasn't expecting. I think the drama and self-promotion of some of the players has actually been counterproductive. People can work quietly behind the scenes and do the right thing, but when folks bang the drum and say, "Look at me! Aren't I splendid?" that's when I start to get a feeling that things aren't so much being done because it's the right thing so much as to call attention to one's self.

Maybe, maybe not. The only reason why I think the kid might be adopted is 1.) No evidence her former husband had anything to do with this kid and 2.) She was asking elsewhere about how she could adopt one of her foster kids.

That said, I don't know for an absolute fact that the kid in question is adopted, or even hers. There are very specific reasons why I think it could be, but the genealogical website I use (for genealogy, for years, I didn't get the account for just this!) isn't infallible, nor are any databases. And I have it on pretty reliable authority that there are no children currently living with her, and it would be known if there were.

Because that's not certain, and because it involves a minor child, I didn't post specifics. I trust most people involved in this to avoid dragging a little kid that might not even be involved into this, but you never know. Emotions run pretty high sometimes. The right people have the information they need to take whatever action might be needed.

You can get that here, for free. Or, if this place is too rough for your itty bitty feelings (those that think so have obviously not been online very long ), there are plenty of other diet forums. Or cooking forums. Or friendship forums. Or whatever-floats-your-boat forums. And they're all free.

There's nothing there that suggests to me a good reason to plunk down a $1.98, much less $19.95. (not that I'd pay either amount...I'm a cheap bastid that way.
